Myra so I like to be open-minded about things as I believe that everyone is entitled to their opinions and beliefs. I don't need to agree withe everyone, but this book was was just filled with some crazy crap.

Yes, Ma'am... Scientology is the go to thing for people who are a marble or two away from letting go of the handle bars of reality.

Famous people are the first ones to fall for this type of lunacy because they are surrounded by "yes-people" and people who always tell you "yes" and nod and feed their fevered egos.

These people don't live within reality.

Lynda I too, was open-minded concerning the Christian faith, particularly Baptist! But then I saw the so-called Christians in my life who did not exhibit this type of life-style. Those family members closest to me all spout this faith and yet, they are far from that belief! They have been since removed due to the stress of trying to figure out their 'codes of life!' So, I have read Dianetics about 20 yrs ago and am reading it again. While I have not signed onto this Scientology belief totally, but as a writer, I am learning that many doors remain open for those willing to take a new chance/experience.

You can believe whatever you want. If you want to believe that you are driven by a dead alien spirit that's fine, but don't blame your need to believe in something so badly that you are delving into an obvious con on the fact that you are a writer. It's insulting to those of us writers who know better.

This is the man that wrote Dianetics. L Ron Hubbard... a fucking lunatic who was diagnosed with severe schizophrenia. This is what scientologists believe and lie about believing while calling out respectable people of medicine as hacks.

Go figure.

Lynda Well, considering our world is made up of various beliefs, faiths and experiences, we need to be more open-minded!! You may be a writer too, but judging by all the millions of subjects to indulge in, I would certainly not base my opinion of your talents from your reading material/research/interests. This is why we have our ideals and the freedom with which to voice them. Since I write historical fiction, I am more open perhaps to research and will view anything for the first time. After all, how can we put ourselves into our writing if we haven't even tried to investigate what we're really about. That being said, if someone was to indulge in their opinions/beliefs/ideals, etc., to me, my response would not be one of slanderous words, but 'let's investigate,' before jumping to conclusions.

I misread your post. It came off to me that you were interested in seeking the church out as an avenue of belief not just simply research. I apologize, religion, especially obvious con jobs like scientology is a touchy subject for me. Mainly because I think people should be more evolved and have a higher in intelligence than falling for something so insane and false.

I am not "slandering" your skills as writer, either. That would be ignorant of me being the fact that I haven't read anything you've written. And even if I didn't like your style, I still wouldn't hold that against you.

Scientology is a cult and cults have been something of an interest to me so I have been reading about them and lightly investigating them since I was a 15, I'm 32 now. Human behavior is something of an interest to me and mostly what I write about in my novels.

There's no slander on my part when it comes to Hubbard or his ilk. The facts about the supposed church speak for themselves.

Lynda Aahh, then we agree! It's ok to research! I love to read anything and make my own informed choice. I'll read cereal boxes like books! I'm a true nerd, geek and can't get enough of any form of research! :D

Hi, have you ever properly read a book written by L. Ron Hubbard? Have you ever received auditing? Have you ever been in a Church and had a tour?

"Lightly" investigating something does not give you the right to be rude and disrespectful.

Before replying, make sure you read the guidelines of this website--you have already fallen outside of them.
