I still struggle with navigation on this site, you say go into the book shelf, and add them to the "suggestions for group reads" folder......how do I find this?
Patricia wrote: "I still struggle with navigation on this site, you say go into the book shelf, and add them to the "suggestions for group reads" folder......how do I find this?"on the upper right ,you'll find (book shelf)under the group's name .click it and the you'll find (add books)on the upper left
You follow Skena's (thanks) directions, and in the "add books" bar on the upper left, you type in the name of the book you want to add. It will do a search. Then it will list books. Find the book you want to add, and next to the title it will say "add to group." You click that. A box will pop up, and it will say "choose shelves", you click that and add it to the "suggestions for group reads" shelf. Lastly, click "save group book", and it will show up in the folder. :)
I hadn't checked out that feature, thanks for letting us know. I just added Thirteen Reasons Why. A friend of mine told me about it, and it looks very thought provoking.

I haven't but it looks interesting!

Rebekah wrote: "I have an AWESOME book suggestion...has any one read Fablehaven by Brandon Mull???"Fablehaven is a really fun read about two children who visit their grandparents and discover a whole new world. Of course, once discovered, they embark on a number of adventures covered over several sequels. It is worth your time. Have fun!
Yes, and it was a good book. I've met him when he came to our Barnes and Noble store. He visited my friend's students and was really good with the kids.
I loved the Fablehaven stories. Bandon Mull is a great writer. The books kept me interested and entertained from start to finish.
I'd like to toss my hat out into the ring as a possible group read by an author who is a member of this group. My debut novel The TAKER comes out 6 September in the US from Gallery/Simon & Schuster, and 14 April in the UK. It's an epic supernatural love story, compared to "Interview with the Vampire" and "The Historian" but without vampires. You can read more about it at www.almakatsu.com

I will add you to the poll for the August Group Read. Make sure you come back after May 1st to vote for your own book. :)

Do you mind adding Fablehaven?"
Fablehaven is a group read for this month. :) Donna picked it when she won in the thread "win to pick 3rd group read", She has a thread in the group read section. :)

Dawn by Octavia Butler would be awesome. I've been looking for a reason to reread the book for a while now. It's part of the Xenogenesis series (also called Lilith's Brood).

They are in addition. Since the summer tends to be less busy for the younger crowd (high school, college, ect), I thought it would be nice to have extra group reads until September. :)

I will be starting it up again for the December Group Read. I'm just taking a minor break since my life is hectic right now (college classes, work study, writing, editing, book trailer, etc). I will definitely start it up again though! :)

Love this idea! Only problem is my tbr pile willnow gain maiming status if in the very likey event of it toppling over
I had this idea, don't know how well it would work, though ... what if a title word was chosen and all of the books for one of the monthly reads in the poll would have to have that word ... like if the word were "WIND" the choices could include Gone With the Wind, The Winds of War, Winds of Change, The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle, The Wind in the Willows, etc.

Just wondering if/when you have goodreads authors books for the group read? I would like to add my book to that list. :) Neophyte
I think we should read "The Great Gatsby". It's an amazing book, and as there is a film coming out, a discussion would bring the book alive and open it to new audiences. TGG! *****
do we still do group reads? I haven't found any updates since April and was hoping to find the one for summer reading. Please let me know where the voting and list of books that were read or will be read for group reading. I think there should be a definite new folder as of 2012 to help make location easier- just a friendly Haven suggestion from an enthused member.
To Johnathon- you know i have never read that, but I'd like to! Also I am a fan of Eva Luna by Isabelle Allende, I will be reading it again soon and would love to know what others think of it.
There have been lots of books posted but no poll or book selelcted. With little time available I can't do this but maybe somebody else here can het this moving. Have people nominate titles nor for the next week and put the poll here for a couple of days and then we choose the title. I don't know how to place the titles in the group poll but maybe somebody does.
I'd just like to say that the Groups introduction says that Book Haven is "a group for people who like all genres" but we seem to only read YA in the group reads. Why don't we have (instead of 4 YA books) a YA book, a classic, a literary book and a crime/thriller?For example; (not suggestions)
I. Divergent
II. East of Eden
III. Life of Pi
IV. The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo
I think this would open the group reads up to a lot more members.

I was also wondering if we are supposed to try and read all 6 of the books this month. It does seem a bit much, since I am in other book groups. I am guessing we are just supposed to pick the ones we would like to read, which is what I have done, but just wanted input.
I just read through Olympus Falling and I found the book highly enjoyable. It is a greek mythology/fantasy story, but it seemed more mature than Percy Jackson.I would recommend it!
hahaWorld of Archangels by Sufian Chaudhary
It's this amazing spiritual book about meeting the Archangels.
I have an excellent suggestion--- Finding Frank by Martine Lacombe.
