Hi everyone! Just finished
The Chronology of Water An amazing read. Unlike anything you will read. Review can be found here: http://wp.me/pTRJE-4N
I just joined & am very excited about reading
. I also want to see if I can join
which starts to point to the problem I'm worried about.I'm currently reading
So surprise I feel overwhelmed. But I'm thinking of just finishing Slash, if I can-it's light & library, & same for If Books could Kill & Maisie Dobbs.
That just leaves the one real chunkster, Wolf Hall, to read with these & I'm about 40% (Kindle-talk) finished & liking it so it might be possible.
Maybe this group will help me organize myself a little so I don't freak myself out with my own reading.
I didn't quite realize how much I was balancing until I listed them (& I left a few off-just getting too embarrassing).

I am also trying to balance five or six other books. I think many of us are so you are in good company in that regard.
What a relief-I swear I thought you guys were going to chase me from the group! *whew*Luckily, I see the Pillars read finished a while ago so that one can continue to wait a while.
Nope! We would never chase you out. Happy reading. Let me know when you begin Pillars.... so good!!! The sequel World Without End is just as good if not better too. But no pressure!
Completely understand. I love that about goodreads. So many people with the same quirks/obsessions about books as me!!!

Actually, the Pillars read was kind of aborted... at the time, I think only a few people started it and then I think it petered off after just a few weeks. I don't know that anyone would be opposed to giving it a try again, though, if there's enough interest. I've had a copy for about 1.5 years no, and hope to get to it at some point not too far from now.

If you (Jolene or Ellie) would like to do The Pillars of the Earth as a side read I think that would be wonderful. I can put up a poll to see if there is any other people interested in reading with you if you are interested. Just keep in mind that you would have to submit a schedule (you could use mine from before if you want to) and lead the discussion...
Kristi wrote: "If you (Jolene or Ellie) would like to do The Pillars of the Earth as a side read I think that would be wonderful. I can put up a poll to see if there is any other people interested in..."Hi Krisi,
I am not a re-reader of books but would take part in the discussion if it is a go.
Hi everyone! I just finished
The Priest's Graveyard by Ted Dekker. This was my first Dekker book, and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. I was a little skeptical at first as I thought it might be heavy on the Christian thing (think preachy) but it wasn't at all. Just a good clean thriller that was full of action.
I reviewed the book here on my blog if anyone's interested in reading it. http://wp.me/pTRJE-54
Jolene wrote: "Kristi wrote: "If you (Jolene or Ellie) would like to do The Pillars of the Earth as a side read I think that would be wonderful. I can put up a poll to see if there is any other peopl..."We'd have to find someone to be the leader if anyone wants to read it...
Hey everyone, I am new to this group and joined when I saw you were currently reading "Vanity Fair." I have been in the middle of it for quite some time and hopefully this will give me the push to finish it. I prefer to read only one or two books at a time but right now I am distracted by quite a few: "Confessions of an Economic Hitman" which I am reading for a library discussion, "Emma" which I am reading because I love Jane Austen, "Brisingr" and "Farmer Boy" which I am reading to my kids, and last but not least "Vanity Fair." Thankfully I finished "Breaking Dawn" over the weekend so that is one less distraction.
I just finished reading Sarah's Key & loved it! I kept avoiding it for the depressing subject matter, but I'm glad I finally got the push to read it. I just started Daughter of the Forest last night while continuing with Vanity Fair.
Kristi wrote: "Jolene wrote: "Kristi wrote: "If you (Jolene or Ellie) would like to do The Pillars of the Earth as a side read I think that would be wonderful. I can put up a poll to see if there is ..."I do want to read it. I think I'm a little new here to be a leader but I'd be happy to help out.
Ellie wrote: "Kristi wrote: "Jolene wrote: "Kristi wrote: "If you (Jolene or Ellie) would like to do The Pillars of the Earth as a side read I think that would be wonderful. I can put up a poll to s..."I'm really new too Ellie. Would you like to lead it together?
I think I'd have to do a little research first, background info kind of thing if we lead it. Right? And start a new thread (but that could wait until we actually started I suppose)
I would also like to read Pillars of the Earth, but I'm rather overextended currently. is there any chance we could delay starting this until one of our other current reads is done?
I'd be happy to wait a bit-I'd like to come up with some sort of date but I'm also overextended so a little wait would help me too.
Liz wrote: "I read Pillars of the Earth last year & loved it! It's one of my favorite books now."I read it several years ago, and found that it could have used a good editor. The basic story and information were interesting enough, but I thought it needed a lot of tightening up. Not that I don't love long books when the length is productive, I do, but I didn't feel it was necessary in Pillars.
I guess I found it to be really a normal book masquerading as a chunkster!!
I would be interested In Pillars myself. I am currently reading. Mistress of RomeThe Lord of the RingsVanity FairThe Crimson Petal and the White and currently listening to Where She Went. So this month is a little overwhelming. I will keep my eye out to when everyone decides to start.

I personally disagree :) I was fascinated by pretty much all of it, even the long descriptions. There were parts that were disturbing & difficult to read, but it was a book I could say I really cared about the characters & what was happening.
I do think it helped that I switched back & forth b/w book & audio. If I hadn't listened to the audio as well, I probably would have started flipping through the pages & wondering when the end was going to come. It's definitely a long book!
It looks like a lot of people are interested-would June work as a start date? Jolene-is that too far off for you?
I just read this last year so I think I'll pass. I would love to read World Without End if people are interested once they finish Pillars!
Ellie wrote: "It looks like a lot of people are interested-would June work as a start date? Jolene-is that too far off for you?"June would be fine with me and I like Andrea's idea of doing World Without End afterwards if people are interested. I devoured that one too.
If June is a go. I would be happy to put a schedule together and start a new thread for it. I will probably go along the same lines as the previous schedule. Let me know what you think.
Ellie and JoleneIf you want to use the reading schedule that was posted last time we tried to read Pillars of the Earth feel free, it is posted here. Please send me a PM with the info for the thread I will post for the Side Read, to see the info that we like to have please refer to Loretta's first post on this thread. Once I have the info I will post the thread and we can see who is interested.
Should be a fun read!

Thanks Kristi!
I will get the info to you today and we'll go from there.
Ellie wrote: "I sent the schedule to Kristi (copied the old one she linked-looked great). Hope that's ok"So did I. I just put in the dates for easier reference.
At least we know we have it covered.
I have posted the thread for The Pillars of the Earth! If you have any questions about leading the discussion or anything else please let me know, other than that I hope you both have a blast reading the book! Good luck on your first foray into discussion leadership...lol!
Ellie wrote: "I think I get the most distracted reading my Goodreads e-mail!"I know what you mean, but I think there are worse things. Looking forward to leading with you.
Thanks Kristi for all of your help.
If you go to the "(some html is ok)" link at the top left of the comments window, you can find the HTML for links.
Thanks, I'll give it a try. I also saw something about a "well-formed URL" automatically turning into a link.So I'll try to form my URLs very well indeed!
