Well, the Egyptians had a myth where Osiris was cut into pieces and his body parts scattered around the world. Isis tracked them down, and through magic brought him back to life.
Also Frankenstein seem to be based on the Greek Promethean myth where Prometheus created a living being from clay in the shape of the gods. Which also has the same undertone of stealing forbidden knowledge.
Don't know it that counts.

The Egyptian myth is about resurrection, not creation though.

True.
I'm not too concerned with it, so if someone has any objection to it counting I'd be more than happy to remove it.

That sounds like the best option. Surprisingly there really isn't much all that monstrous about the monster in the book except his appearance, and then later his acts. It's nothing like the film versions.
Lauren wrote: "Yeah, I just felt sorry for him most of the time. Frankenstein is more of a monster."
I completely agree. You really feel sorry for the monster especially after the part where he tells his own story for a while.

I've finished Boudica dreaming the hound. Since I only participate in the cover challenge and the bookhoarders challenge I can only use it for the bookhoarders challenge.

Over all now 10.. Am I doing this right? It somehow feels wrong that I'm using 1 book for 3 challenges :/
Yes, you are doing it right. With careful planning you can use a book for 3/4 challenges. That's somewhat the point of the challenges, otherwise it would be very unlikely that someone will read 125 books in a year.

A friend lent me a copy, and said it's a bit slow at the start and it only really gets going in the middle. I yelled "that's 400 pages!", but it turned out be a great read anyway :)
Slightly disappointing ending though.
Yes, it's an amazing imaginative world, but the story did drag at times with some sections that could have been left out entirely without altering the storyline at all.
The ending was a disappointment to me too. You don't get any sense of closure.
