Ashley (readerandwriter) Just wanted to know if anybody here wanted to write?

I do. I actually have one published works. Its a collection of poems I wrote over a period of 4 and 1/2 years. It is called "My Written Thoughts" . If anyone is interested they can get it at amazon.com. I'm just started to work on a memoir :).

Tabatha (lylathewicked) | 69 comments Nothing published cept for online publishing. Mostly erotica in that general area.

Beth Larabee | 52 comments Ashley, was it hard getting it published? I have a few things up my sleeve and was just curious!

message 4: by Ashley (new)

Ashley (readerandwriter) It wasn't hard. But I later learned that my publisher, Publish America, has a bad reputation. So I will be going to a different publisher for my memoir when it is finished.

Holli What made you decide to write a memoir so young?

Bloomin’Chick (Jo) aka The Eclectic Spoonie (bloominchick) Wow! I've heard that getting published is extremely difficult! How did it happen for you?

Ashley (readerandwriter) I dont want to say too much about my memoir just yet but it is basically gonna be about what it has been like for me to live with my grandfather and how living with him has affected me and my perspectives. It seems kind of innocent but trust me, it will be different from what you will probably expect.

Publishing can or can't be easy...it depends.

First thing to do is ...find a publisher and one with a good reputation and is reliable.

Publishing can be hard in the sense of trying to find a good publisher and a publisher that will accept your work. The majority of getting published is waiting and lots of it unless you go through it quickly which is not a good idea because you want everything to be perfect.Hope this answers some of your questions.

Carrie (missfryer) | 533 comments I have always wanted to write! I love reading so much and I often read books and think, "I can do that!"

I have a few ideas, but haven't started writing because I fear failure and I'm lazy :)

I wish I wrote but I think I make a better reader than writer.
Thanks for sharing your book with us Ashley. I've added it to our shelves we always like to recognize authors in our midst by putting their book on our shelf.
Any others with a published book let us know.

Holli Fair enough Ashley..........just was curious about what prompted you to want to tell your story.

I've had several people tell me I "should write a book" about my life and the things that have happened to me in my 34 years here and I still don't think I have anything interesting to say!! lol

Just thought I would see what had happened to you in your 22 years that would make you want to tell your story and if you thought people could learn from you telling it........

Ashley (readerandwriter) Tera- thanks for adding my book. I appreciate it. If you read it, please do review it. I love seeiing what people think and say about my book.

Holli You know what Teri...........that is such a good idea!!! Thank you so much for suggesting that....I honestly never thought about that. I just assumed they woudn't care about weird Aunt Holli ;)

Someone Youmayknow (momar13) I used to write. I had a newspaper column entitled "The Mother Load" It was cute at the time but recently I looked back on it and had one of those, "What was I thinking moments."
It actually lasted about three or four years while I was raising my kids and it paid me what used to be called "pin money". It probably used less quotation marks and the word it a lot less too in order to be as successful as it was.

Bloomin’Chick (Jo) aka The Eclectic Spoonie (bloominchick) Maureen, it's still fantastic! Not many people can say that they've had their own newspaper column!

I'm a writer, not yet published besides my blog, working through a rather constipated phase!

Therese | 60 comments I wouldn't call myself a writer, although I do get paid to write a weekly recap of Guiding Light for a soap website.

message 16: by Robyn (new)

Robyn (roxy_nj) | 354 comments Therese - you write a soap recap!? I always wondered who wrote those!!

message 17: by Therese (new)

Therese | 60 comments There are lots of us who do. Eight soaps on air, 5 daily recaps, 1 weekly recap...When my husband starts to tease me about watching my soap, I remind him that it is paying for gymnastics classes for our youngest this fall!

message 18: by Holli (new)

Holli Therese that is SOOO cool........how did you get started doing that??

Bloomin’Chick (Jo) aka The Eclectic Spoonie (bloominchick) Yeah, I could do one for As the World Turns!

Therese | 60 comments I am an avid reader of soapcentral.com (I can't help but read the spoilers)and one day I was on there and there was a post looking for recap writers. I've done it for about 7 months now.
