Lorena (lorenalilian) Hi, I was wondering if I could ask for help and perhaps help others find either titles or authors of books we have read but cannot remember.

I for once have been dying to remember who wrote or what was the name of one book I read for an assigment back in school days ... the plot was about a newly wed couple in the 1800s (I want to say) that moves into a new house and the bride becomes sick, she feels better during the day and gets worst at night, people think that she is being the victim of a vampire but at the end they discover the "real" reason she is sick. I lost my copy of many books when I moved to the US and want to buy them again ... please help!

ScottK | 535 comments Hey Lorena, Not that people on this group will not be helpful because we both know they will be . However, there is another group here on GR that I have used on occasion with great results . The group is called Whats the name of that book. You give them a bit of info and then others try to help. Wouldn't hurt to put it out there in more than 1 group. Just a suggestion. :)

Scott, what a smooth compliment :) haa haa.
I would have suggested the same thing .. that group is amazing when it comes to finding the titles for you....

ScottK | 535 comments I was afraid I would get in trouble for being in another group, hence the compliment.....plus it is true!!

Heather Lorena, when you discover the title please let us know. The book sounds interesting!

Lorena (lorenalilian) Sure Heather its a great book, and I would love to have my daughter read it in a few years.

I have been an avid reader since my teenage years but cannot remember a lot of the names of the books I've read, I wish I had kept a reading journal then.

message 8: by Heather (new)

Heather Thanks Lorena! I started keeping a reading journal in 2000. It's so fun to flip through the journal and look at the titles I've read - I can read remember where I read the book and what was going on in my life at the time. It makes me wish I had started it years ago because I know there are sooooooo many books I've forgotten that I read.

Lorena (lorenalilian) Its so sad isn't it? I gave my daughter a reading journal already (she is 10) and she loves looking at how many books she has read since she turned 10, or how many since Christmas ... and so forth. Its fun, we started our journals at the same time, last Christmas.

I remember so many plots and not the titles its nuts, and I am afraid that in some cases I might be mixing things in my head ... he he he

Scott, why on earth would you get in trouble for being in another group?!!!!

I am a member of quite a few, tho, really, I only have time to check the two I run most of the time :( Not enough time in the day.....

Melody | 564 comments I'm just wondering if anybody can remember the proper title and author of a book I read when I was a teenager.

It is about a mother who is dying and her daughter is really young and she starts a diary for her to remember her by. I think it may have been called Sunshine (or maybe not) as I havent found anything by that name.

Ari (aricl) Ummm, Lorena, the only story I can think of that fits your description is a short story by Horacio Quiroga, called "El almohadón de plumas" ("The Feather Pillow"). The book is Cuentos de amor, de locura y de muerte.

Here's a link to the English version, so you can check it out http://www.horrormasters.com/Text/a05...

Greetings :)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments I had it in my mind since I got to this group, but other things here kept distracting me.

I once read a book by a author that I think wrote a classic or i known for writin classics. Anyway, a famou author.

The story as far as I remember is that the man leaves the country he lives in (America or England I think) where I think has also married. Then he other part I remember is that he is on a boat and when he sees the land where he is going to he feels like he knows it, like he has been there already even if he hasn't. Why I like the story so much an would love to remember which one it is, is this: before getting to land he fet like he was getting home, arriving in the country where he was home without ever having been there. When I read that, I finally found a way to describe to people how I felt about Italy before going.

In the rest of the story I think he paints but I don't remember much.

Don't know why but it always makes me think about Hemmingway. I tried to find out if he wrote i but don't seem to find the book.....

I would b so glad to know again which book it is because it is like it tells how I felt/feel and can't express it in my own words.
