I have all the Twilight books but only read the first one halfway through. I feel like I have to go back ad read it again. Maybe I'll get more into it this time? I'm I the only one not enthralled by this series?

Also, I listened to all 10 Sookie books but I'm not sure yet on the Harper Connolly series... I'm not sure I like the writing style... Is it weird to be totally obsessed with one series that an author writes but "meh" about another?

I have all three books of Stieg Larsson's Millennium Series on my bookshelf but can't bring myself to read. And not really plan to in FY 11 either, don't know why.

It's not weird at all, I have the same problem with Richelle Mead. I love Vampire Academy but am really struggling with Georgia Kincaid.

I only got about 100 pages or so into Twilight before I had to put it down. I could not get into it, and I found several of the characters kinda annoying. (Please don't hate me!)

No one will hate you Lisa. I had great trouble with that one also. Had to force myself to finish it; all that teenage angst was so over the top.

And having a cop for a father and him practically ignoring everything that's going on even though he loves her. Just ridiculous IMO.

Now, every time I see Twilight spoken about I think back to our read-a-thon. I can't believe I remembered as much as I did after so long.

I'm glad I read that one before getting onto GR and seeing the movie(s). I went into it not knowing what it was and I think I liked it more for it. Sometimes low-no expectations is best. That one is a perfect example, IMO.

I'm with you there. I put the first one in a challenge thinking I would finally read it, but nope, ended up changing the book. I still think one day, but there are too many other books to read :)

I don't blame you, especially with all the hype surrounding it.
I read it a couple years back, like you Steph, before GRs and the films. I liked it then, probably helped as well that I was a bit younger. But then I started reading other books and just moved off from them and found that they were ok books but nothing special. I don't hate them and they have encouraged lots of people to read so that's good, it's just IMO, there are a lot better books out there.

I was worried about reading <i>The Hunger Games</i> too but once I started all those worries fell away because it was AMAZING! The main reason it's so good is because it's original (despite it being a spin on [book:Battle Royale). The end in Mockingjay, like Wan says isn't as great as the rest but still good.

BTW, I hated Hush, Hush too. I wasn't too thrilled with The Dark Devine either -definitely not reading the sequel.

These are so freaking popular, I'm scared to read them too. I might watch the movies at some point though.

I have 3 of the 4. I made it through 1 but got stuck in 2. You're not the only one that's had trouble with it. :)

I have this trouble with Richelle Mead. I loved Dark Swan, I liked the first book of Vampire Academy and can't seem to find the motivation to read the second book of Georgina Kincaid but I think my problem was with wimpy Seth when she could've had the intelligent stud that is Roman.

I wish I was more committed, if I don't like a book -- then I don't continue on with the series. I have a shelf on TBR that is "maybe continue series" -- which means probably not for me .....

May be that was it. I saw them everywhere. It was a total impulse when I bought the books. I was going to watch the movie too, even got it from the library, but return it without watching it.

I haven't been able to get through #2 of Georgina Kincaid either. Not sure the reason. I'll give it another go at some point, I'm sure.

I gave up on Blue Bloods after reading #1 - didn't like it at all. I've also had a hard time with Sisters of the Moon by Galenorn. Cannot get through #1 even.

I tend to keep going with a series, even if it's buggin' me (IE: House of Night) because I want to find out how it all ends. But, it frustrates me when each subsequent book is the same or worse than the one/s before it.

I've read two or three of them and have another one or two on my shelf. I thought they were okay, not brilliant, but nowhere near as bad as some people think. I will probably go back and finish reading the books I own, and decide from there whether or not I want to continue with the series and buy any more.

Hmmm, well I didn't really think they were bad, just that there were a lot of books out there that were better. I'd bought the 1st 4 and that's why I stopped at #4.

I actually really liked the first one and was kinda not feeling the second so that one I don't know if I will ever get around to continuing.
