I was thinking the same thing Phil, wondered what he thought of Bell hops too.

That reminds me of back when all (yes all) of the porters on trains were of African descent. The porters, sleeping car attendents, and dining car waiters/cooks were all African-American. The conductors and trainmen were all white. And it really wasn't all that long ago.And of course, they were all men.
It also reminds me of the time in the late '80s when I was on a cruise and the man in the cabin next door had one of the male Haitian attendents in with him for the evening. I assume for an extra large tip. Not that it was any of my business.
Glad you liked it Helena. It is an IPA, so good chance that I wouldn't like it. I have found that I like most Belgian and Scottish type ales though so maybe there is hope..
Lee, I did have two and I was totally fine...not even a bit snappy :D I'm picky with IPA's too, Jim- this one wasn't bad, but I wouldn't have it often, nice for a change though... but bold.
I had a couple of these in Portland airport terminal yesterday afternoon while waiting to board United 598 to Denver.
I liked it plenty good.
United 598 turn right to 170, descend to 33,000 and maintain.United 598 turning to right 170 and descending to 33,000 roger.

Oh,oh, I finally get to do this.......

Apparently this Eliot Ness amber lager was a gold medal winner 8 times over the past 15 years at the World Beer Championships.
I had a Happy Ending at lunch today. Mind out of the gutter people, it is actually a beer. No pictures available, but the info is as follows.HAPPY ENDING
7.7% abv. Belgian Abbey Ale. Climactic spicy aromas and flavor with a slightly sweet finish.
Quite tasty.
That's one of the things that amazes me on Mad Men, how they just pour another scotch and keep going about their business.
I'm curious, how many people liked beer the first time they tried it? How many sort of just acquired the taste for it? I've tried different beers on multiple occasions, and I just don't like the stuff.
I can't remember the first time I drank beer. I know I drank wine first; either at a friend's house, probably around age 13, or when I was babysitting for the high school principal, age 14 perhaps. I definitely did not like the wine. I still don't really like wine, although I'll have it occasionally.
I'm sure though that I didn't love beer the first time I tried it. It was an acquired taste.

Even without mixing it it's way too sweet for me now.

Yeah! MD too! I have a bottle in my fridge waiting for me.
I pretty much liked beer from the get-go, once I allowed myself to try it. I drank a lot of wine coolers first.
First beers: Labatt and Molson of course, both of which were drinkable but I don't know that I'd say like.
My freshman year of college I made friends with a German guy and a Dutch guy who lived on the same floor as my boyfriend. They only bought good German beers, which it turned out I liked very much. I had expensive taste way too early.
My first beers: Grolsch, Heineken, a dark Hertog Jan beer I can't remember the name of and Knock Out.
I can't remember my first beer. It was with my grandpa when I was around three. He used to get a glass of beer, I got a shot glass full. I don't remember it, but my mom had pictures.
My first taste of beer was when I was around 8 or so--all the kids got a taste at a Christmas party. I didn't like it then and never developed a taste for it.
This is going to sound terrible, but my parents slowly introduced us to beer and wine by mixing it with ginger ale. Beer shandies were a treat on special occasions like Christmas & New Year’s Eve parties. When we were older, say 12-14, we drank wine with nearly every meal and I still do.

I hated it. Of course the first brand I tried was Budweiser. 'Nuff said.
Amber wrote: "My husband is a big beer drinker (when he drinks at all), and he loves Heineken, it's his go-to beer."I never drink Heineken if I can help it. It's not exactly the best Dutch beer (we like to call it 'slootwater', ditch water). Two popular Dutch brands I do like:

Especially breakfast... hair of the dog, it really does work.
I love beer for breakfast.
Edited to add that only when on vacation in Mexico and the beer is Pacifico. Not, like, on a daily basis or anything.

At one time I liked
Yeah that's what I meant, you lovely corrective creature you. I've had a little too much chardonnay.
Keizerskroon, not the most interesting beer, but very drinkable and refreshing.http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/keizersk...
Utah update:Restaurants that serve beer as their only alcohol have new restrictions beginning Jan. 1, 2012.
1) Food must account for at least 70% of sales. Beer can be no more than 30%. Food MUST be ordered before beer can be served.
2) Servers may not open or pour the beer in front of a customer; it must be poured in a back room, out of sight of the dining room. THIS INCLUDES DRAUGHT BEER. It will now be illegal to open a can in front of a customer.
Okay, people from other states with restrictions. Do your best and see if you can beat THAT for ridiculous.
