I'm so excited, I finally finished Dangerous Allies by Renee Ryan!! I'd hoped to get to it on our family trip, and then I forgot to pack it. Ugh. So I read it the other night and really loved it. Dangerous Allies by Renee Ryan

Now I just need to decide what to read next on the TBR pile.

oooh, nice!!

I have to admit to being a total literary dork and have not read anything by Elie Wiesel. My friend and I put together a list of must-read-before-dying books, and it's on there. Sadly, I haven't yet read anything on the list. *sigh*

I've usually got a fiction and nonfiction book going. I'm still deciding on the fiction book, but my current nonfiction book is Walking on Water: Reflections on Faith and Art by Madeleine L'Engle.

message 16: by Heidi (last edited Oct 08, 2010 07:01AM) (new)

Heidi | 33 comments I'm reading A Time to Forgive and Promise Forever. It's a compilation of two Marta Perry stories, and I'm on the first book, A Time to Forgive, right now. It's really good :) I haven't been interested in many LI books in the past. I usually read the LIH line, but I am finding more and more LIs that I like lately :).

Oooh, love it! You guys are reading some great stuff.
Heidi, I love Marta Perry. She's one of those authors who started out as a great author, but each book gets better and better. I love it.

message 21: by Ruth (new)

Ruth (ruthaxtell) | 8 comments The Master's Wall (Iron and the Stone, Book 1) by Sandi Rog
I'm reading Sandi Rog's book which takes place in Roman times and really enjoying it. Sounds very authentic.
Also, The War of Wars The Epic Struggle Between Britain and France 1789-1815 by Robert Harvey
Very informative for the regency I'm working on.

Oh that's great, Joy! Congrats!

Can't wait to hear what you think of them, Terri.

Ruth, that Regency book sounds interesting. What's it about?

Last night, I read Loving Bella by Renee Ryan. Yes, I know... I'm sooo behind in my reading, but that's life right now. Somehow I ended with a TBR stash by my bed. I wasn't feeling well, so I ended up grabbing the first book from the stack and read. I really enjoyed the book. Definitely a great escape.

message 23: by Ruth (new)

Ruth (ruthaxtell) | 8 comments Joy, I loved the Secret Garden, one of my all time favorites. Hope you get through it this time.

My regency is about a French female spy and a British male who is spying on her! So, you can see I have to know all about the Napoleonic Wars.

I just finished one of Debbie Macomber's Cedar Cove series. I think it's her first cause the copyright was a while ago. Really, really enjoyed it. She has a knack for storytelling.

I love the idea of that book, Ruth! Can't wait until it comes out!

Joy, definitely check out her other books! I really enjoy them a lot. I'm also a big fan of Regencies.

message 25: by Ruth (new)

Ruth (ruthaxtell) | 8 comments Joy, You haven't lived if you haven't read a regency! LOL. My all time favorite author of them (after Jane Austen, of course) is Georgette Heyer. Good romance but so witty, too.
Thanks, Janet T.--I assume that's your comment in message 27.

I really want to read this! It sounds fabulous. Unfortunately as a new college freshman, I have to have a budget for myself otherwise I'd be buying all the LI titles every month!! I'm trying to keep an eye out for it at the small local used bookstore, but you ladies must all know what that's like. A hit or a miss. They're a little cheaper there too luckily. Wish I had more money for books!! LOL!!

And Ruth, I regretfully must admit that I've never read a regency. I've heard about them and everyone says the same thing, but I most definitely have not read one : )

Just sayin'!

Jennifer, I thought this was the first in the series, but it seems I am wrong :P I'm new to to most of the LI books. Please let me know the others in the series, so that perhaps I can read them :). I loved the sisters in the book, and would love to read more about their good deeds, and those they bestow those good deeds upon :)
