SOLVED. A book about a girl who gets lost in the woods with her dog during a vacation with her mom and dad. [s]

A little girl goes on a vacation with her mom and dad to a national park (i think?). She gets in a fight with her dad and runs off into the woods. She hears something that scares her and she keeps running. Eventually she gets lost. Her dog, whom she loves very much, I wanna say its a beagle, is with her. Meanwhile a man in jail, who killed the little girl's mother's sister when the mother was a young child, is planning his escape. Eventually he escapes and finds the little girl and tries to kill her in the exact spot and way that he killed her aunt. The little girl has no idea that he killed her aunt though.

Read it years ago, I remember girl lost in the woods, creepy bad guys are always part of Stephen King ... not sure about the rest of your plot description.

so i just logged on for the first time in FOREVER because i stopped checking the email that was attached to this account. and to my surprise the mystery (that i was still trying to figure out) has been solved!!!!!!! i looked up Cold Fear and that is indeed the book! Thanks guys :)
