I read this book in high school a few years back and I'm at a loss for that the title is. There is a group of people that are stuck on a spaceship and their are aliens on their with them. I know that some of the aliens communicate with each other by using lights and some of them are ultraviolet and the humans try to learn their language. I believe it might possibly be a part of a series but I'm not 100% on that.

Rama II?There are several other books that deal with the group of people on that spaceship. The octospiders speak in colors, some ultraviolet.
