No, guidelines encourage people to create a separate edition for ARCs and the like. (Especially if they plan to list it on swap, but even if not.)

I tried to separate the right one so the users that have added the wrong edition could be associated to the right book, but it is the most popular edition and because of that it was not possible. So can someone do that too?

In cases like this, actually, we generally put a librarian's note on the books to indicate this information so that people who have shelved the books or who have heard about them and come to GR for details will know what happened. (Since the books have ISBNs assigned already, they will likely stay in the Amazon system for a long time, so they would have to be NABbed instead of deleted anyway.)
