So far it's the Hudson Series. I have yet to read any of the new ones but I finished Runaways and I wasn't too fond it but Orphans was really good!
so far...i have read the cutler series and i am not intrigued by the idea of father having hots for their own daughter.
I would have to say the "Landry" series. I liked it for the first two, but quickly lost interest afterwards
Landry series (for now). Loved the place it took and culture related things but characters lacked badly the quality of original Virginia Andrews.
The Delia books sealed it for me.. I vowed to avoid the newer books as they are just not my thing. I was pretty convinced it had to do with age... maybe I outgrew VCA? But the Diary books - the ones about the Dollangangers - hooked me.
I also found the inconsistencies with the Willow series extremely frustrating... there was a CD player somewhere in there that completely threw me off.
I tried the first Delia book, but then stopped in the middle. I think I was concerned because there was a creepy tutor or something? I'm a bit skeptical and unsure of these new Dollanganger books. My own least favorite series is probably the Orphans. I haven't read Raven's book, but I like the whole family saga thing, instead of a new girl each book. I haven't read a lot of the VCA series in full, though.
I recently read the Unwelcomed Child and it was my least favorite book. I'm so happy it's just a standalone because I thought the plot wasn't strong enough for this book let alone a continuation. I didn't like any of the characters except the grandfather. I'm hoping the new books after this are a lot better!
The Diary series and the upcoming sequel to My Sweet Audrina. They shouldn't even exist if you ask me. Neiderman needs to leave VCA's original work alone. That ship has sailed :\ Him, the publisher and VCA's remaining family just want to cash in on the exposure from the movies coming out.
I didn't know they were making a sequel to My Sweet Audrina, I'm going to read it regardless but I'm wondering what the story will be...I haven't read that book in such a long time!
Yeah, I saw abot it on completevca.com. The info about a new book is from a podcast that Neiderman took part in. So far it's titled "Whitefern". No doubt it'll have some secondary title like; "Whitefern: Whispers from the Colors" XD
O I have heard of that website I just always forget to check it! I know there is a new book coming out I think this month. I'm also hoping to read the new Flowers in the Attic continuations or spinoffs, not really sure what to call them...I just hope it's not three more books told in Chris's perspective.
I stopped reading new VCA after Orphans. I was DONE. Before that, the Landry series was my least favorite. I think the prequel for that series is possibly the worst book I've ever read--even outside of VCA.
I'm on page 25 of bittersweet dreams and know what you're feeling, it's like I'm forcing myself to get through. I have been told it's takes a good 75-80 pages to really get into the book so as long as we can get past that first hump we should be all set and get into a good read. Good luck to you! I have to say overall my least favorite book has been Unwelcomed Child, I got through it but I really didn't understand a story line of any kind, it was hard to get through and there didn't seem to have that mystery/flare like most of the other VCA/her ghost writer books have.
No, the release date isn't until the end of the month. So I assume by February we should see it in stores.
I'm on page 73 of Bittersweet Dreams and I still don't know what she keeps referring to that was so bad.
Yea I'm having a hard time not tossing it to the side and moving on. I'm really not sure why this has to be dragged out, at this point I'm thinking there was no point in this story. I retract my statement before about The Unwelcomed Child being my least favorite, atleast that one I smoothly got through it and didn't want to throw the book out the wind like I do this one.
I'm about 29 percent through and usually I'd be engrossed in the storyline by now, but I'm still wondering if I'm missing something, it's so drawn out. She hasn't even gotten to the school yet. I can't believe they took 5 chapters to say so little ...
I'm on chapter 14 and she's still not at the new school. It's like she's fallen into a dream state and is only living the past right now. Around page 180 it picks up for about 4-5 pages which could be the subject she's referring to as so bad, or it could be around page 240 that she's referring to what she did that was so bad. Honestly I can't really tell and after the 4-5 pages is dies down again until about page 230ish. It's dreadful and I'm only continuing because I have the biggest problem with not finishing books but at this point I'm throwing myself a party for finishing this thing
Color me surprised (not). Why do we keep doing this to ourselves? All the new books are terrible. The first couple series Neiderman wrote were pretty good imho. Passable as VCA knockoffs at the very least.Have you read all her original stuff, Dana?
I have read some of her original stuff and am working on reading now all of it. I'm definitely putting on hold all of the ghost writer books now because I just can't handle it anymore so I'm going to focus on her originals and that's it
I started watching the new movie My Sweet Audrina, I missed the last hour or so but I kind of enjoyed it and I liked the cast. I still haven't watched the new Flowers and the Attic movies and I'm not sure I will.
Yes they did on Lifetime. I think it aired 2 weeks ago with the girl from the Secret life of the American Teenager and the guy from the Chronicles of Narnia. I did enjoy what I seen of it, it was a little slow but I need to watch the end!
I think Celeste is my least favorite. just was not interesting at all to me. I couldn't get into it.
and actually I know this is probably blasphemous but I didn't enjoy the Dollanganger series as much as everyone else appears to. it was just alright.

Mine is probably any of the mini series books. Sure they held my attention, but they were really lacking and I don't like the numerous main characters. Obviously it really takes away from the general VCA feel.
And yours is?
