It was a scorcher. The sun seemed to be shining all of its light down directly on the camp, cooking the campers inside. The Ares cabin had felt like an oven, what with all the complaining campers filling it with their hot breath and only making it worse.
Lucas had the common sense to leave and find somewhere to cool down, and what better place to do so than in the shade of a tree?

He slouched against the trunk, curls damp from the second shower he'd taken today. Beside him, a basket of fresh fruit picked up from the mess hall, and an ice cold bottle of water. If there was anyway to beat the heat, this was it.

Olvan and Samantha wondered out of the woods into the open sky, of the camp grounds.

((That's the opposite of an excuse. The iPod has spell check, and capitalizes things for you. When I'm on my iPod, I still use grammar.))
