Hi Lannister. I'm not sure but she talks about that somewhere...she says that when she returned with Mircea from saving Radu in the past the Consul tried to grab her and she freaked and shifted accidentally. A week in the past but still inside the senate stronghold. That's when she "acquired" those items.

Ana, you genius!! :DI've done a bit of searching (hurrah for ebooks and their search facility) and it's at the beginning of Chapter 6, just after Cassie told Mac and Pritkin about the runes in the tattoo shop. The scene is almost exactly as you describe too, except it's only three days rather than a week.
Thank you so much! :D
You're welcome...I wasn't sure about how long or when Cassie explained but was sure about the situation. I re-read all the books a couple weeks ago so it's pretty fresh yet. Glad I could help! ;)

LOL... that's why its Urban fantasy ... LOLpersonally I'm not big on PDA.... but I do have a few exhibitionist fantasies.... LOL
And considering how little attention I pay to ppl around me at the best of times, I'd probably be one of the ppl just not reacting... :-)

Ahh Pritkin in the tattoo shop...
Dinique/Jax, I think the vamps don't react because they've seen it so many times before. And probably done it loads of times too! I guess after you've watched a few thousand gropes, it just becomes background noise and only worth watching if they're getting *really* creative!! ;)Anna, LOL, for some reason that scene in the tattoo shop seems to stick in a lot of people's minds. Gee, I wonder why LMAO!! :D
@ Lannister - LOL - I wonder what vamps would consider *really* creative! LOL - most of them have had years to experiment! As for the background noise... I agree... as its pretty much how I 'react', I don't really notice... unless we're in a "family" area... then I get pissy cos there are kids around... and lets face it... there's not much that kids don't notice!!

Oh, I bet Mircea can get very, very creative. *thuds*

Dinique, awwww! *hugs*It was awful when Mac died. I almost couldn't believe it and kept hoping it was a mistake, or he'd be resurrected vampire-style or something. That whole scene in the forest was pretty horrific and totally not what I was expecting, but yeah, Jax is right, it's great when an author makes you care enough that you're physically upset when something happens to one of the characters.
Sarah, yes, let's all take a moment to think about Mircea and his creativity!! ;)
Whew!!

Totally agreee with you on Mac - thought he was great and was thoroughly shocked when he died. Haven't quite forgiven KC for that one. I was looking forward to a few new tatoos if nothing else!
...and Jax don't think I haven't noticed you moving in on Pritkin... :P
LOL, god yes, a few more trips to the Tattoo Shop would have been fun! I wonder where else Pritkin could get tattooed!!

Jax wrote: "I'm sure his caffeine addiction should keep him going...LOL"
LMAO I just had a Pritkin-Power-Pause with a VERY ... enjoyable... fantasy about Pritkin. Think about it, caffeine addiction, incubui DNA and a wall. Try thinking energizerbunny without the pink bunnysuit!
Funny thing is, normally I think tattoos are totally hot, I have a few and counting, but on Pritkin I don't want him to get any more.. I have no idea why..

yeah...*as I pant in lust*...
hmmm presented like that I could have got into Maths: triangles, squares, pentagons...Lannister there's got to be be a game in there somewhere!
Leodora, LOL, I hope you enjoyed your Pritkin-powered Pause!! It sounded kinda fun! :D I had a kinda half-dream/half fantasy the other day about Marlowe and one of the vamps out of the Jane Yellowrock series. I have no idea why the other guy popped into my head. These things happen when you're half asleep! (By the way, if you haven't read the Jane Yellowrock series by Faith Hunter, I highly recommend it!) I don't think I want to talk about what actually happened in a public forum! (But it was good!)Dinique, LOL, there's no shortage of hotties in KC's books! She's got something there for everyone and I approve the trend! I thought that was a really nice scene between Tomas and Cassie in the cell, cos she basically forgives him for being a complete idiot (which is more than I would have done). I was glad that being in Faerie speeded up his healing, because I didn't like to think of him being tortured.
Anna, "triangles, squares, pentagons..." Oh noes, I'm having nightmare flashbacks to Geometry lessons in school, where the teacher was a 6' 10" tall American (in a British school). He was SCARY! But maybe I could come up with something. Let me think about it! :D
Dinique, I'm actually kinda glad that Mircea wasn't the one to pop Cassie's cherry. He's smug enough as it is!! It's one of those things when I look back over the series, I'm glad it was Tomas she did the deed with. He does care for Cassie but it feels like their relationship has 'Doomed' written all over it. :(

I can't explain exactly why, but I never wanted Cassie and Thomas together anyway.... I didn't really think about the fact that Thomas was her first....Though at that point, I wasn't rooting for anyone in particular.... :-)
Tomas needs to go back wherever he was... and have a nice normal vampire life and leave Cassie to Pritkin... YUp!
I read the first Cassie book 6 months back , and youll see I wasnt overly gushing. However I am back on board!!! I have a question though. I sort of couldnt place Marlowe. Who was in the the scheme of things??

Lorelle, I think most people would generally agree that Touch the Dark is the weakest of everything Karen Chance has ever written. But the books get soooo much better, I promise. Every book she writes now becomes my new favourite and I think she's improved heaps as a writer since Touch the Dark. I hope you'll stick with the series. Or if Cassie isn't kickass enough for you, try the Dory series. I think I actually prefer the Dory books (though that might change when the next Cassie book is out!)Marlowe is the Senate's chief spy and information gatherer. He hardly gets a mention in Touch the Dark, because he had been injured and almost killed by Rasputin's guys at the start of the series. He complains in Claimed by Shadow when one of the Fey hits him on the head. That was his old injury playing up!
If you like Marlowe (and I do, a lot!), he gets a much bigger part in the Dory books. Apart from that scene in Faerie in Claimed by Shadow, he really only has a small role in the Cassie books.
I have no doubt that this series gets better . I love having loads of characters to play with. And I think Ill have my hands full here! A lot of the characters have some link to history. Being that im very bad with Geography and history, is he based on someone fantasy or irl?

He's a real life character and a seriously interesting dude!Marlowe was an English poet and playwright in the time Queen Elizabeth I, but was also believed to be a spy for the queen. His wikipedia entry gives some info...

There's so much mystery and speculation over Marlowe's life and death. It's why I find him so intriguing!
@Lorelle lolI think Lannister would happily pay people to let her talk about Marlowe. Ask away!! :D
oh and keep going with the books if only to add your two penny's worth to the calender thread!
True, you're really doing Lannister a favor by giving her a legitimate reason to talk about Marlowe. So glad you've decided to keep going with the series!
Im actually going to organise to read the third one when I get precious moments to myself over Christmas :) Its funny I was reading the first 200 pages, getting my head around whos what and where, finally saying to myself, ok I think Ive got it! Then this tattoo parlour goes scooting through the compound ( for lack of a better word), and they pick up Marlowe along the way and Im like what the? where does this guy fit in hehe. (view spoiler)

Lorelle, that scene with Mac (the tattoo guy) was a shocker and all the more so because it was completely unexpected. Still, I like authors who have the balls to write scenes like that. It keeps the reader on edge.I can see why you might be confused over Marlowe especially when it was months ago that you read Touch the Dark. Well, you'll know who he is in the future! And to the group, no, I'm not going to talk non-stop about him. I'll wait until someone asks a question first! :P
@Marlowe suuuuuure you aren'tI'm thinking that I might to a re-read of book 2, since I can't start anything new until after finals.
I didn't even realize that I'd accidentally put "@Marlowe" Oh boy. I think finals are getting to me. Last night I spilled water on the table before I went to bed, and told my roommate "water needs table too."
Anywayyy I've basically forgotten the finer plot elements of the first two books completely. I didn't even remember that a character named Rasputin existed!
I didn't even realize that I'd accidentally put "@Marlowe" Claire?? Are you fantasizing again... Lannister is NOT gonna like this...
Claire wrote: "I didn't even realize that I'd accidentally put "@Marlowe" Oh boy. I think finals are getting to me. Last night I spilled water on the table before I went to bed, and told my roommate "water need..."
I think Marlowe has put one of his influencing spells on you. And possibly the table too LMAO!!
Hope you do well in your finals.
Yay, and I'll be finished work next weekend for almost two weeks.Party at Dante's next weekend everyone! Dress code casual, but you will be judged on your footwear! :D
