Cinder sat on the windowsill in a deserted corridor, thinking silently to herself, humming a sad tune
She smiled at the girl, whispering "H-hello" back to her softly.
With a large sigh she stood and started her way towards the Great Hall, in need of some major food. She had quidditch practice later that day, and she knew from experience that she would faint and fall off of her broom, a nasty accident, from fatigue if she had no energy after the sleepless night.
Dawn couldn't see anyone, but she checked the suits of armor for good measure, then did a triple cartwheel, just for fun. She knew that if Peeves saw her he'd tell Snape, and then she'd catch it. She'd taken a few steps before a sound caught her attention.
She had just been walking down the hallway, daydreaming, listening to the girl walking in front of her, when she tripped over her very own feet and fell directly in front of her. "Ow." She groaned, her face smashed into the hard floor and her arm underneath her body, twisted in an unusual way that should not be possible. The girl looked at her as if she were crazy.
Dawn stared at her. How could her arm be positioned like that? She reached down, offering her hand to the girl. "Need help?" She asked, pulling the girl to her feet. ((Europe?))
((yup. Hello, again! :D))"Yes, thank you." She said sincerely, wincing at the immense pain in her still twisted arm. She looked at the source of the violent pain, no tears coming, her face slightly annoyed but mostly just exasperated. She sighed in defeat, looking to the girl.
" Would it be a terrible inconvenience for you to help me to the hospital wing?" She asked, annoyed that she would probably miss quidditch practice if she did go, but that she must go, regardless.
"Thank you so much. Hey, your in Gryffindor, right?" she asked, too thickheaded to look at the girl's robes.
She smiled. "Oops..... sorry. BUt hey, so am I!" she said enthusiastically. Then she looked down at her robes.
She sighed dramatically.
"Never mind." She laughed.
"My name is Cinder. And I am a klutz who is in disbelief that she won't be able to go to captain her own quidditch team tonight."
"The try-outs of which are going on tomorrow morning." Resa grinned, "I'm trying out, you know. Oh, and I'm Dawn."
Haha, nice to meet you. And I've been selected to be captain, and I'm running tryouts." she sighed,"I just hope that I can fly. Well, I will be able to, but they" she nodded towards the open door of the hospital wing,"may say that I can't." she frowned."What spot do you want?" she asked, smiling.
"Nice! I'm beater/captain. We do need a good chaser. I hope your good!" she said, smiling jokingly yet seriously.
"Haha, yeah. After knowing that, I as well would be shell-shocked!" she said, walking into the room hesitantly, clutching her left shoulder as if holding it where it is.
"Good luck! Hope you can make it to try outs!" Dawn waved goodbye, before being shooed out of the wing by Madam Pomfrey.
"Thanks, Resa! I'll be there to get you on my team!" She called to the girl, grinning, as Madam Pomfrey rushed her to a hospital bed, telling her to sit, while muttering something that sounded suspiciously like "These dumb kids just can't stay out of trouble, can they..." and walked off to her cabinet of supplies, ranting on.
((Anyone on?))Dawn ran up to her dormitory, grabbing her broom, and running out to the quidditch pitch.
Cinder Sighed, emerging from the hospital wing after a few short but painful moments in which Madam Pomfrey had promptly shifted her shoulder back into place and gave her a potion to ease any pain. She then told her to take the potion if anything hurt and sent her away, rushing back in her office and slamming the door shut behind her. Then again, Madam Pomfrey was rarely seen doing anything but rushing. As her arm was feeling well, and she'd hardly played all summer due to living in a muggle town, she ran off to the broom shed, grabbing a school broom and heading to the pitch to fly a bit. Once out there, she saw, once again, Resa. She waved and mounted her broom, flying into the sky and up to her.
Cinder nodded, sitting comfortably on her broom without holding on. She grinned."Out for some flying practice, are we?" she asked.
"Isn't that allowed?" Dawn asked, grinning. She let go, just slightly at first, then finally putting her hands on her lap.
Cinder didn't know what to do, so she decided on just laps around the castle."I'm gonna fly aroun the castle." she called to Resa, just letting her know.
Dawn nodded, giving Cinder a thumbs-up signal, before leaning forwards and pelting at the castle, just for fun. She knew it looked like she was gonna hit, but she could easily swerve...
Cinder's eyes widened."What're you doing!!!" she shrieked at the form heading straight at the castle.
At the last moment Dawn turned right, not slowing. She'd just managed to see someone through the window she was aiming at. She turned forward, and turned left again, barely avoiding Cinder. "Sorry!" She called back, doing a U-turn to face her.
Cinder shook her head, laughing, somewhat hysterically."Ha! Oh my gosh!" she said. She looked into the window and saw someone staring back at them. But who was it? She asked herself. Or rather, asked out loud.
"Who is that?"
"Who?" Dawn asked, following Cinder's gaze to the window. "Oh, she must be someone in Ravenclaw." She said with a shrug.
"Sure." Dawn said, smiling. She looked around for a second, then sped off towards the forbidden forest.
Dawn turned, grinning down at Hagrids Hut, where a bunch of third years were, for Care of Magical Creatures. Some of them noticed and waved up at them, Hagrid included. Dawn waved back.
Cinder saw Hagrid's Hut as she passed by, filled with third years. SHe sighed, missing Care of Magical Creatures deeply, before smiling softly, waving fleetingly, and turning back to Dawn, only to find that she was nowhere in sight. SHe sped into the forest, wondering if she went in there.
Dawn turned sharply right, thinking to turn around and see Cinder, but she only caught a glimpse of gold and red robes disappearing into the trees. She leaned forward, speeding into the trees. Dawn could no longer see any sign of Cinder, but she kept going straight, only turning to swerve trees.
Cinder sped through the forest, not knowing where Dawn was. She didn't feel scared, not in the slightest. Mostly comfortable. SHe stopped in a clearing, touching down silently and staring at the beautiful black creatures, horses almost, but only bones. Skeletal horses. "WHat are they?" she asked aloud in wonder, walking up and holding her hand out, gaining trust before petting one softly on the head.
Dawn sped on, the shadow of a frown just barely visible on her face. She spotted Cinder and sped towards her, then stopped abruptly when she saw the thestrals. She landed next to Cinder.
She glanced out of the corner of her eye at Dawn."What are they?" she asked softly, still petting the same one gently
Cinder nodded."Why shouldn't I see them? They're right I front of me." she said. Then she mouthed the word 'thestral' in wonder, stroking it's head.
