RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Well, if that lady from Delaware is gonna 'fess up, we better, too. I'm not sure I'm a fan of the word "witchcraft" with all its negative connotations, though...I'm not sure what it means and could be used to describe practices negatively that don't deserve the implications...such as...

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/09...

Anyone? Not that there's anything wrong with it, as pointed out here...

Félix (habitseven) Does being married to one count?

message 4: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca White (rebecca_white) | 1027 comments I have a lot of friends who have, and one who really considers herself one. I've been on email groups to learn about it. I just don't relate to the nature religions in the end, I guess.

But the thing is, I think this woman is a phoney. If you've "dabbled in witchcraft" you know that there are no altars to Satan as part of this. She's so ignorant of it, I just don't buy it. I think this is one of those things that some born-agains do, padding out how bad they were so that they look like an authority, and so that their testimony makes a better story.

Does liking Stevie Nicks qualify as "dabbling"?

message 6: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca White (rebecca_white) | 1027 comments depending on how much you like her, it might qualify as "dribbling."

If it does, me too!

Ken (playjerist) | 721 comments Whether a woman sporting a broomstick between her legs should be dabbled with is an entirely situational assessment in my experience.

message 13: by [deleted user] (new)

Clark, Stevie Nicks isn't a witch, she's a goddess!

Amelia wrote: "Clark, Stevie Nicks isn't a witch, she's a goddess!"

Sigh...

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments It could be witches, some evil witches...
Which is ridiculous 'cause witches they were persecuted
Wiccan good and love the earth and women power
and I'll be over here.

From the "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" soundtrack:

Gives me the chills.

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments One of my all-time fave Stevie Nicks tunes:

Beautiful Child

Other favorites, in no particular order:

Gold Dust Woman (the baddest ass anthem from a rock goddess, imo)

Storms

Dreams (awesome break up song)

Gypsy (HOLY Fuuuhhdge... check out the chemistry between Stevie and Lindsey!!! This song is total hotness - if I ever had to choose an anthem for myself, this song would be it)

Edge of Seventeen (love her commentary here - it's CRAZY awesomeness... and all the more reason for Stevie lovefest)

I see a poll coming on - favorite Stevie Nicks songs - what do you guys think???

message 18: by [deleted user] (new)

Perhaps a Stevie Nicks/Fleetwood Mac poll?

What's strange is that I'm no big fan of Fleetwood Mac, at least after she and Lindsey Buckingham came on board. But I always loved this Bob Welsh-era album, cover art not withstanding:

They got them hoppy legs and twitchy little noses,
And what's with all the carrots?
What do they need such good eyesight for anyway?

Hee!

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments I've missed you, too, Bun!

I've just been really busy with work, of all things! We have a new computer system, and it isn't good. And I'm not too happy about some of the things the administration has been doing lately, either. And not just me. There is much discontent among the ranks.

Dario | 63 comments Misha wrote: "I never turned anyone into a newt, but I am heavier than a duck."

Sir Bedever: A newt?
Peasant:...I got better.

King Arthur: A Duck.
Sir Bedevere: ...Exactly. So, logically...
Peasant: If she weighed the same as a duck... she's made of wood.
Sir Bedevere: And therefore...
Peasant: ...A witch!

Jaimie (jaimie476) | 664 comments I love how a thread about Wicca/Witchcraft/Paganism turns into a "Once More with Feeling" singalong!

Misha, my story is a lot like yours...although I don't have the talent to put it all so eloquently.

I started as a solitary practitioner when I was in my late teens and in my early 20's I joined a coven. My issue was that Wicca was never real to me. Just like when I was taken to church as a child. When I was solitary, all I'm going to say is I've seen and done things made me see there is so much out in this existence that we could not even possibly understand. This coven I joined, although I still keep in contact with some of them and still consider them my brothers and sister, they practiced more of the nature religion. It was all about visualization, nothing real. When I suggested doing things to draw up power, I was shot down. Someday, I hope to find something real. But never, ever did any of my experience have anything to do with Satanism.

Phoenix (phoenixapb) | 1619 comments I'm dabbling in witchcraft right now and you are all under my spell....no wait, that's not right. Damn, it doesn't actually work like that!

I didn't kill the chicken. I just found a baby yellow one dead. Cars kill them. I haven't got the courage to kill on..."

"Choking the chicken" is a euphemism for a man masturbating. I think Misha saw an opportunity and decided to turn the joke around and back on Larry.

message 42: by Lori (new)

Lori I used to dabble in raising the powers, reading the Tarot, spirits around us, yadda. So one night I had the brilliant idea (I think I was reading Mists of Avalon at the time!) to take a bath and "read the water." Lit candles, quieted myself, and called on my spirit. Oh I lived alone at the time. Well I have never done that again, I swear swear that what came was very powerful, and I felt malevolent too - or maybe I just got completely freaked - kinda heard a devilish scraping. GAH! GAH! I got out of the bath, turned on every light in the apt, and went to my black cat for protection!

Heh heh. No I wasn't stoned at the time. I have a very susceptible imagination.

But I still believe we have higher spirits, in a Sufi kind of way.

message 43: by [deleted user] (new)

The Craft was a GREAT movie! I so loved that.

message 44: by Jaimie (last edited Sep 29, 2010 12:42PM) (new)

Jaimie (jaimie476) | 664 comments Lori, I've done that with mirrors and I've seen some really not so good things. I think it's like the Ouija board. It attracts the malevolent. Thus, why I have no Ouija board in my house and I have very few mirrors. :-)

message 45: by [deleted user] (new)

I've never had or played with an Ouija board. Not for any real reason, I grew up nothing (as far as religions go), it just happened that way. Then, later, I was dating this guy from seminary (in my early 20's) and we were in his home town for the summer and got part time jobs for extra money at Toys'R'Us. He used to refuse to sell Ouija board games in his lane. He would seriously tell the customer that it was evil and he wouldn't sell it, they'd have to go to another lane.

I can't believe they never fired him.

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments did he sell magic 8-balls?

message 47: by [deleted user] (new)

Does the devil talk to you through Magic 8-Ball? If so, I'm going to hell, because I totally have one on my desk!

message 48: by [deleted user] (new)

What? Who doesn't know what a Magic 8-Ball is? Where are they from? MARS? If I was you I'd order one from Amazon and have it delivered to them!

message 49: by [deleted user] (new)

It's just the cheeky beast in me, I wouldn't be able to help myself. I'd be sending them emails with clips of movies with references and commercials and whatever I could find on youtube, snail mail with printed junk. Key chains with mini 8-Balls...all the while laughing my little butt off.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments I love Magic 8-Balls, but I'm a little scared of mirrors in the dark. That "Bloody Mary" story I heard when I was seven traumatized me for life. I'm not kidding!
