sorry mckenna; i didn't mean to offend you. it was just that i felt like you kept asking me the same question like you thought i was trying to avoid it. i was just making it clear that i was giving the most direct response that i could possibly give.

I do not like the idea of abortion. If it was my baby, unless it had something really wrong with it, and it was going to die or something, then I wouldn't get an abortion. In some cases, I think abortion is the right choice, I don't like it, but put yourself in someone elses shoes. Like a teenager. If you knew you would have to give the baby up when it was born, to like an orphanage, and if you didn't do that, you would have to raise the baby yourself, knowing that you are not ready for it. The baby is not yet in the state where it, scientifically is considered alive. Wouldn't you at least consider getting an abortion. I am not saying I think it is right, but that's not my choice. People should be able to do whatever they want. We can encourage them not to get abortions, but they don't have to listen. If you get an abortion early enough, it is not murder. Some people have a problem with stopping potential life, and I might to. I wouldn't know unless I was in that situation. I won't stop people from doing what they think is right. Just because I think this way, doesn't mean it's right. If you think one way, then you can do what you think is right. You can try and convince people to do what you think is right, but they might think another way. They should do what they think is right at the moment. I'm not saying anybody is right or wrong. These are opinions. It's none of my buisness if my best friend wants to get an abortion. Just because I am against it, does that mean that I am going to stop being her friend? NO! It's her choice, I might not think it's right, but, it's not my choice. Ok, anyways enought from me! HEHE. I'm Tal...and um...I'm 11. I just wanted you guys to see my point of view. WOWO THAT WAS LONG!!!!
Ok, well, Tal, in a scientific point of view, the baby is actually alive. You know of all those creatures that consist of only one cell, right? Well, they are considered alive in a scientific point of view. And from the moment of conception, the baby is one cell... it grows into more and more cells. So scientifically, that unborn baby is ALSO alive. It eats, it dreams, it grows, and moves, and so many other things besides. How can you say that the baby is not alive? I know you're just 11 years old (not saying that’s young, just hopefully a little while away from experiencing pregnancy) but surely you have seen a relative or friend pregnant. Have you ever seen the baby kick? Or felt it? There is no pattern. It is random. Just like the human brain is supposed to be. Its alive n kickin’ in there!
thank you tal! that is exactly the point i've been trying to make! just bcuz i'm pro-choice does NOT mean that i would personally get an abortion, but i want the option to be there for other girls.
exactly... some ppl act as if pro-choice ppl are like evil baby killers or something, but it's not like that at all.
Do you think it is wrong to have an abortion? Brigid..and wouldn't you think it was just as wrong for someone else to have an abortion even if they had a different view point?
ok, well this is mckenna (im at tals house) and i think that abortion is wrong, no one ever said that pro-ABORTION peoples r baby killers, brigid, u know abortion is wrong, and i am p.o.-ed at u.
ummm. why are you p.o.'d at me? just bcuz i have a different opinion than you? sorry, but that's really immature of you.
u know what, mckenna? i'm sick of apologizing to you! obviously you are just going to be rude and not accept anything i have to say. i have no choice but to assume things bcuz you NEVER GIVE A REASON for protesting what i have to say. so when out of nowhere you're just like, 'i'm p.o.'d at you', how am i supposed to know what you mean?besides, your impatience and sarcasm obviously show that you don't respect my opinion. that's not an assumption; IT'S A FACT.
Who wrote the long statement about letting someone else have their choice and not judging them? Was that an 11 year old?
oh yeah. that was tal. sorry, i thought you were talking about what mckenna wrote recently under tal's name...
Well there is no reason why we should all be mad at each other, cuz that WILL NOT solve any problems, or convince anyone of anything, so can we keep mean comments about each other to ourselves? Obviously we have different points of veiw, but that is no reason to be rude (and no, I'm not just talking to one person, i mean everyone).
okay, i'm sure this is directed at me, but still...some of us should have a little more patience and try to actually read what the other person's point of view is, even if you refuse to take their side. and if you're going to go against someone else's opinion, please give a reason why. don't just say 'that's stupid' or 'you're wrong' without giving a reason.
Of course I know that the fetus in the womb is alive. I've seen the ultrasounds, I've felt the kicking. It is an amazing experience. I guess I just don't see some magical change that happens when an egg and sperm unite that transforms it into a person with full rights that should be government-protected. I see human life as occuring in stages--the egg and sperm are alive, no question, with potential human life encoded in their DNA. An embryo is alive to be sure, but I still don't see it as full-fledged person. I don't know exactly at what point potential life should become fully-fledged, government-protected life. I guess I just have the world view that a God who is just and fair will make sure that those people who are supposed to exist will exist and those who aren't supposed to exist won't. Not all eggs and sperm turn into people. Not all fertilized eggs attach to the womb. Not all fetuses make it to viable baby. That's okay with me.The government doesn't really know either when human life exactly begins. So they've tried to come up with the best solution possible that accommodates both fetal life and women's rights and individual autonomy. They allow abortions to be performed on demand up until the age of fetal viability outside the womb. Then abortion can be banned as long as the laws banning them provide an exception for the mother's life or health. It's not a perfect solution, but I think it's the best one we've got for now.
right. the world will never be perfect. no matter what, there will always be unwanted children in the world, whether they end up being aborted or not. it's not a pleasant thing to think about, but denying it isn't going to make it go away. i agree w/lara; what we've got right now is the best solution.
(mckenna again) tal is my best friend, and i agree with everything she's saying. brigid, i never told u why, because u never ASKED y. communication is key in this discussion. and i agree that getting mad at people won't solve anything. sometimes, i just don't understand how someone can stand up for something that i think is so wrong, so i need to chill for a little bit and think in their shoes. brigid, i can understand what ur trying to say, i just don't agree with most of it. im not trying to make enemies, im just trying to get my point across to people with different opinions.
okay. i know what u mean, and i'm not trying to make enemies either. but mckenna, you shouldn't make me have to ask; don't just think that i'm going to. just say what you want to say and give a reason so we can avoid this.
Lara, if a family is murdered is it because God is no longer just? I say that because you claim he will 'make sure that those people who are supposed to exist will exist'. Or does He only look after us once we are officially born? And when did God ever promise that life would be fair? All this talk of fair is tiresome. What of a person with cancer, how is it fair that they have it and I do not? Brigid, you also talk so much about fair, but if the girl chose to have sex, she chose the risk of pregnancy. Life should have consequences, though today's society says not. And if she was raped, as in the example of cancer, SOME THINGS ARE NOT FAIR!!! Once should not take someone else's life! Also, supposing I didn't believe that a life or soul began at conception, at what point, exactly, is the soul born???? Not knowing, I would never be so bold as to guess and decide that up until a certain point, abortion is acceptable. Why is everyone so willing to take that upon their heads? I realize some of you pro-abortion people would say, 'but I would never do it', but if you are arguing in favor of abortion you are saying it is okay to make that guess.
i am not, as you say, 'in favor of abortion'. i support that in this country, we should have a CHOICE. and besides, i'm not sure if i believe in 'souls' at all. and if they do exist, we have no way of knowing when they are born. therefore, i believe in a girl's choice concerning her unborn child. it's not that i consider abortion 'acceptable'; i still think it's sad. but the choice should still be there.
Lara, I have to comment on your post #57.It makes my stomach turn to see how our society is so flippantly adopting the Darwinian "survival of the fittest" mentality. Are we becoming so uncivilaized as to be only open to perfectly healthy human beings, and heartlessly closed to those with defect? It is a slippery slope, Lara. I have a "defective" son (Clare's cousin, Brendan) with an incurable genetic disease called cystic fibrosis. I have been offered the pre-natal testing in each of my five pregnancies....to see if my baby is healthy. Sadly enough, I can take that information and decide whether he/she is worthy of my keeping. This is a horrifying result of pre-natal testing. It breeds violence. It breaks my heart for my 15 year old son to see the statistics of how so many children with CF are being killed off before they are born, because of their "imperfectness". How does this make him feel? If you ask him if he is grateful for his chance at life, he will give you a wholehearted "YES"! He has much to offer. His life has value.
It makes me so sad to think of all the children with down's syndrome and similar diseases who are not gracing us with their presence in our world because they too have been aborted. God places every child on this earth for a reason. Many times it is those "imperfect people" that have something to teach us "superior beings". Many times it is they who bring joy where joy was not expected.
Who are we to decide who is fit to live or die?
i don't want to offend anyone or anything.. i just want to prove my point.abortion should be illegal. okay, the woman got pregnant. she wants to get rid of it. then she should put it up for adoption. abortion is like taking away a life. if she doesn't want it, then its no different then giving it up to an adoption center then if gets aborted. from the woman's point of view, the baby is rid of anyway. just the option of abortion puts the idea of abortion in many pregnant womens' minds. if abortion is illegal, they don't even have the chance to think about it. thats why, in my opinion, abortion should be made illegal.
A person always has a choice. If the person doesn't want to have a baby, then do not have sex. That's it, that's the only answer. And if she's pregnant and doesn't want the child then put it up for adoption. I agree w/ Snoopy, abortion should be illegal.
so it should be legal to MURDER babies? Then that would make the Columbine, Virginia Tech, and all the rest of
THESE legal. Think before you say killing unwanted people should be legal.
All those shootings just killed unwanted people, so, using this VERY SIMPLE LOGIC, anyone with half a brain can conclude you think the said murders sould all be legal. Now is that what you want, to legalize killing unwanted people? Because thats what abortion is, killing an unwanted baby and thus a person.
right, so since she has the right to choose, she should chose to AVOID GETTING PREGNAT IN THE FIRST PLACE! DUH! its really that simple.
it is very sad, and so are abortions.in fact, abortions are far worse because, well, theres a lot more and for no real reason.
how much more?
THIS MANY!
and it is the leading cause of death in the entire WORLD!!!!!
do you know how many causes there are!!!?
more than ou could count in your life!!!
and the leading cause is ABORTION!!!!!!!
WHY does it seem right to MURDER babies? WHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?
Warning!!!!!This may be offensive to some people!!!!
ABORTIONI=MURDER
MURDER=ILLEGAL
conclusion is the government is trying to create a PARADOX so it can take over te world!!!!
[not really, although abortion is murder:]
anyway, this is the offensive part, and I REALLY don't want to say it, but it's the only way to get my point accross.
IT'S YOUR CHOICE WHAT HAPPENS TO YOUR BODY!!!
IT REALLY IS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
NEED I SAY MORE?!??!?!?!?!?!??!
1/4 American Deaths are from abortion1/2 World deaths, from ABORTIONS
AND worst of all, one person is diagnosed with autism every 20 minutes, but every 6 minutes, a defenceles baby is SLAUGTERED, BECAUSE OF ABORTIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
does that SOUND like it is better?
does 30+ years of guilt seem better than 50+ years of being proud?
not to me!
STOP MURDERING BABIES!!!!
by the way, I have Neurofibromatosis type 2, and yet I'm STILL alive!!!!!
I don't feel miserable
