Here is the new folder for topics pertaining to NaNoWriMo 2010. I've changed the 2009 folder to "archive" and will continue to move old stuff there as I find it.

Also, suggest any additional folders you would like to see here.

Snow (kdskid007) Thanks Sarah Jane!

Scott (scottfischer) | 26 comments Whoohoo!! I guess that makes us "official" for this year!!

message 5: by Zulmara (new)

Zulmara | 70 comments Thanks, Sarah Jane!! This is my first year...are we doing NaNoNames in a 2010 folder??

This is my first year and have been reading the archives...

message 6: by Snow (new)

Snow (kdskid007) Okay, who else can't wait for the NaNo site to clear out from last year so we can all put up our new novel info? :P

message 7: by Scott (new)

Scott (scottfischer) | 26 comments Oh I am so ready to have the forums cleared out. I keep looking back at the same postings over and over hoping to see something new and it's just not happening. The fresh, clean, pristine forums being dirtied by all kinds of new posts is always a lot of fun.

And thanks to all of you who are friending me there and here. I'm really hoping to be a winner this year!!

message 8: by Snow (new)

Snow (kdskid007) We're all winners! :P Well, we can be, anyway. We shall all do it! :D

message 10: by Veronica (new)

Veronica (v_a_b) Yes! We can all be winners! I hope that i can win this year... I have the past two years, but this time around might be different. I'll probably have internal assessments going on or something like that.

message 11: by Snow (new)

Snow (kdskid007) You can do it, Roni!

message 12: by Veronica (new)

Veronica (v_a_b) But at least I won't have a 15 minute speech to worry about in the first week of november... I'm getting that over with next week!

lol...I am doing the same thing...getting rid of all the things in November that I can do sooner...hope it works...

message 14: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ OH BOY OH BOY OH BOY … Ah. I'm kind of screwed. MUST START PLANNING!

That's good. Hehe. I have Footloose to perform during the second week (which, I hear, is the hardest), as well as my brother coming home from France after two years. I'm planning on writing backstage during the play and bringing my notebook to the airport. XD

message 16: by Elliott (new)

Elliott Yeah, I have basketball in November... that's going to be fun. Not like I can write during the games... unless I write while I'm sitting on the bench. Hmmm. That might actually work.

message 17: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ I will probably be filling out tons of college apps in November. Joy!

message 18: by Elliott (new)

Elliott That sounds lovely.

message 19: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ Mmhmm. x_x

message 20: by Ashley (new)

Ashley (mashley310) My play ends on October 30. So I'll have loads of extra free time that I normally wouldn't know what to do with. :-) Which makes me very, very, happy.

message 21: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) I'm just hoping that my muse was decide to reappear...she/he took a vacation after last years nano and hasn't made their presence known again yet

Yeah, my muse needs to be pampered...a lot...my regional NaNo group goes to build-a-bear and builds a muse...I can't wait...seems like sooo much fun...

ADELANTE!!!

Zulmara

haha that sounds like an awesome idea

This is my first year participating in NaNoWriMo. I’m excited, but nervous. I think it will be a great challenge, and will get me out of my comfort zone. I tend to edit as I write, which I know I shouldn’t do, but I can’t be helped :P. I’m a perfectionist.

message 27: by Madeline (new)

Madeline hello again haha welcome

message 28: by [deleted user] (new)

Hello :). You were right; this group is really great :).

message 29: by Madeline (new)

Madeline heehee i love it when im right lol

message 30: by [deleted user] (new)

Don't we all? :P I think it's part of being a female ;).

message 31: by Madeline (new)

Madeline Hmm... a very good point that i just have to agree with =)

message 32: by Ez (last edited Oct 10, 2010 04:03PM) (new)

Ez (ezrah-rah) Hello! I believe this is my second time attempting NaNo. The first time I failed spectacularly. Here's hoping I do better this year! LOL.

That's such a cute idea!

message 34: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (chasmofbooks) I did NaNo last year and, surprisingly, I won! I'm SO looking forward to doing it again this year!!!

message 35: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (chasmofbooks) Is it just me or does the line, "NaNoWriMo has yet to begin" radiate torture?

message 36: by Madeline (new)

Madeline @ Stephanie, lol a little. but its a good torture. congrats on the win

@Harper, first off i love the name Harper. secondly, i failed last year too and im glad your trying again :)

good luck guys, lord knows we're gonna need it =)

message 37: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (chasmofbooks) Thanks. Yes, it is good torture...to some degree....

message 38: by Ez (new)

Ez (ezrah-rah) Thanks, Madeline! I figure it's worth another shot. At the suggestion of an author in another community I'm in, this time I'm going to try to set word count goals and give myself consequences if I fail. Maybe that'll give me the extra motivation I need. LOL.

Good luck to you, too!

message 39: by [deleted user] (new)

You could also give yourself little rewards for meeting your goal. Positive reinforcement. That's what I'm planning to do.

message 40: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (chasmofbooks) Conequences for not writing...this reminds me of last year's pep talks, when we're "picked on" (if you will) for setting up "rewards" for ourselves.

message 41: by [deleted user] (new)

I respond better to positive reinforcement. Besides, if I plan to punish myself for not meeting my goal, I'll be likely to renege on it anyway :P. I guess just do whatever works for you. If the threat of punishment pushes you to meet your goal, go for it. As for me, I think I’ll just be looking forward to my cookie :P.

message 42: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (chasmofbooks) Haha

message 43: by Madeline (last edited Oct 10, 2010 04:30PM) (new)

Madeline ohmygoshh that reminds me!! i might be the only one dorkishly excited about it but still... Lemony Snicket is giving us a pep-talk!!!!! :D im so looking forward to that!!!

word count goals are easy and basically set for you (1667 words a day i believe) and the consequence is that you fall behind and in the long run poiivly dont make 50,000. but what sort of rewards would u give yourself?

.... ah th yumminess of a cookie... genius indeed

message 44: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (chasmofbooks) I've no idea. Who's Lemony Snicket?

message 45: by Madeline (new)

Madeline *jaw drops* He wrote the series of unfortunate events
i love him. he's just utterly insane

Lemony Snicket

message 46: by [deleted user] (new)

He wrote "A Series of Unfortunate Events".

message 47: by Stephanie (last edited Oct 10, 2010 04:35PM) (new)

Stephanie (chasmofbooks) Oh yeah, that's right. I haven't read them but I've heard of them.

message 48: by [deleted user] (new)

I haven't read them either. I've heard good things about them, so I'll give them a try at some point, but right now my reading card is full.

message 49: by Madeline (new)

Madeline interesting... they'd be a little below your reading level at this point... they're really cool... i should reread them....

anyway i just think his peptalk will be really good

message 50: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (chasmofbooks) Haha
