The forever stamp is a first class US stamp that is valid for whenever you use it. It never declines in value nor does it expire. It is a perpetual stamp. When the cost of postage goes up, if you have forever stamps, you don't have to buy 1 or 2 cent stamps to make up the difference of the old postage rate. It's value is whatever the cost of postage is for a first class one ounce letter at the time of use.

Never knew that, Robin, thanks!

YW..I love them. I have a couple of books of forever stamps so if the cost of postage goes up I am still good to go with the forever stamps : )

and on more little tidbit of info, the postal dog (mascot) is on the forever stamps. He's a cutie."
OH really...I didn't know that : ) I still have the forever stamps that have the liberty bell on them. I may have to buy some just so I can have the postal dog ones too.

What book-buying ban?? I said I never heard of any such thing. It's Kat who is on a book-buying ban. :D

I'm on a book-buying ban :("

Kat, how do you find the freebies? I don't have a Kindle but do have an Amazon Prime account to save on shipping and they give deals for a PC Kindle which I downloaded.

These four I actually found through a blog yesterday.
There is a website you can also use to find free Kindle books - I only just found it, but it looks like it works: http://www.jungle-search.com/US/kindl...

So a few minutes ago I purchased:

Such self-restraint, Mikki. One whole week without buying books! Well you made up for lost time with some great purchases. The only one that I've read is Travels With Charley which I really liked. Enjoy. :)

"
And those 3 are?? It's no fair to keep us guessing.

I just downloaded Metis Traveler on the Red Road for free from the Jungle Search website. When you click on a book's link, it takes you to Amazon.

Kat, thanks so much, I'll check it out!

Fess up, Judy, before Janice makes me tell.

Shannon, Alice Munro is one of my favorites. Have you read any of her other stories?

Having confessed my sins, I can say that there are many Canadian authors that I have truly enjoyed and some that I will go back to and try again because I find my tastes change as I "mature".
Re the short stories. I thought they would be perfect on the Kobo to have for those times when I only have a certain amount of time to dedicate to reading and I could not think of anyone I would rather read in short story format (unless it would be Alistair MacLeod - I believe he has short stories)

I like Alice Munro :)

OK here it goes again.
I don't normally read short stories but have read one or two of Munro's but not a whole collection. I thought it would be good to have some short stories on the Kobo though for times when I only have a certain amount of time to dedicate to reading and could not think of anyone I would rather read (except Alistair MacLeod) and I will probably add his book Island : The Collected Stories of Alistair MacLeod) as I find his writing to be magnificent!

I read the first 2 1/2 Outlander books - loved the first two but the third one kinda lost me. May go back and reread them and continue with the series one day seeing as I have them all!

Lol, my original comment was a big confessional about how I don't like Margaret Atwood (well I like her writing but not her stories) and I am such a bad Canadian but I also don't like Mordecai Richler but that is based on only one book. Having said that there are many Canadian authors that I really do love. So hopefully I am accepted in my own country!

The only Margret Atwood book I've read and liked was

I loved Outlander, I plan on reading the rest this year. They're just such long books!

The only Margret Atwood book I've read and liked was

Maybe I will try that Atwood then. thx.

OK here it goes again.

Shannon, it's there at #500! I haven't read anything by Atwood except for Handmaid's Tale lonnnnng ago.

I loved The Stone Angel! I have [book:The fire-Dwellers that I found in a used bookstore, but haven't read it yet. I really should read more of her books.

I wouldn't if I were you. You could have some transactions on your card that aren't yours. We're all sure that they aren't books! :)

What I meant was that your credit card company wouldn't tag book purchases by you as suspicious. They KNOW you buy books. When I get those calls it's always about something I don't normally buy - one time it was a train ticket in India while I was at home in the U.S..
