Josie | 1967 comments Yeah, in separate shops as well. I love finding them though, just the feeling of satisfaction :D

message 352: by Josie (new)

Josie | 1967 comments So, I went to a charity shop yesterday and bought a little bundle, except that the lady serving me said that I must have a lot of time on my hands :/ What do you say to that??
I mean I didn't buy that many and if a series is together, you have to take advantage of it don't you? Well I did. I didn't really like the first one of 'Riley Jenson Guardian' series but I've heard it gets better so...

Kissing Sin (Riley Jenson Guardian, #2) by Keri Arthur Tempting Evil (Riley Jenson Guardian, #3) by Keri Arthur Dangerous Games (Riley Jenson Guardian, #4) by Keri Arthur Embraced By Darkness (Riley Jenson Guardian, #5) by Keri Arthur The Darkest Kiss (Riley Jenson Guardian, #6) by Keri Arthur and then Undead and Unworthy (Undead, #7) by MaryJanice Davidson Glory in Death (In Death, #2) by J.D. Robb

Sandra | 25908 comments I think that was just rude! What you do with your time is up to you!!

I of course, think that reading is never a waste of time *nodding piously*

Lucky you Josie, finding so many good ones at one time.

message 354: by Josie (new)

Josie | 1967 comments I know!! And it's not like there's a rule that I have to read them all at once, I could be spreading them over the year (I'm not but that's neither here nor there). Sheesh!
Lol, I knew I'd have some support here! :)

message 355: by [deleted user] (new)

Wow, that doesn't feel like something one should say to a customer. And shouldn't she be happy you bought them? ._.

message 356: by Josie (new)

Josie | 1967 comments Yeah, you would've thought so. I think it came out wrong, I think she just meant that I had a lot of books, because really, who does have a lot of time on their hands? If I worked in a bookshop, for example, I'd be thrilled at people like us who buy loads of books because of our healthy addiction!

message 357: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments You said it, Sista! I say ya go back in a day and buy more. LOL! Well, if could afford to. :) Great deals - enjoy!

message 358: by Vivian (new)

Vivian (_vivian) | 1934 comments Okay, we're a skewed sample, but 7 books is NOT that many, right? ;)

Not to mention someone working in a shop selling books should not be surprised by that number. I've worked in used bookstores and because of the prices, people leave with BAGS full of books. And getting first pick of the books that are brought in, it's fantastic...but gets dangerous...

Awesomevegan (AKA JenReads) (awesomevegan) | 468 comments I would love to find a used book store to work at... maybe I should check my area and see if any are around and hiring. :) And no 7 is not a lot. I have bought more than that at one time for my Kindle.

message 360: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments 7 is definitely not a huge trawl. If I was there, watch out!! LOL.

message 361: by Josie (new)

Josie | 1967 comments Lol, I agree - it's really nothing compared to other days! When she said it I thought what on earth would she have said if I picked up those other series by Keri Arthur...??
I then proceeded to spread them about in several shopping bags to make it look less, tehe ;)

message 362: by Angi (new)

Angi | 485 comments I think that lady is definitely not an avid reader or she would know that is an absolutely rediculous thing to say lol ... she just SO doesn't get it... ;-)

I just bought (or preordered) "Shadowfever". I so freakin can't wait to get it..... I've been dying a slow death after the last cliff hanger... AHHHH! Anyone else??

Totally agree with everyone here. You don't need a lot of time to read. A little bits here and there. My friends said the same thing better yet when I told them that my hobby was reading, they laughed at me and said I have no life. I was furious in the beginning but now I don't really care. My down time is reading and I need it.

@Angi -- I preordered Shadowfever last year around Octorber. I'm waiting for the book. I don't even read the first few chapter that KMM posted on her site. I'm just gonna wait.

Awesomevegan (AKA JenReads) (awesomevegan) | 468 comments My bf got me this from the bargain shelf when we were out yesterday: Sharp Teeth by Toby Barlow It is written in verse and about werewolves. Has anyone read it? It looked like it may be interesting.

message 365: by CyberAlmu (last edited Jan 19, 2011 12:06AM) (new)

I've never seen anything about it, but I'd be interested to know what you think when you read it. Please let us know.

Will do. :)

message 369: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments AV, I read that one. But, I'm embarrassed to say that I don't remember much more than the blurb. I checked to see if I'd written any kind of review - nope. Which isn't a big surprise since I read it pre-GR, back in 2008 or 2009, I believe. Found it at an airport bookstore when I needed something for a flight. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Thank you for trying! I will give it a try at some point. Possibly this year... I have so many challenge books to read. I can work it into something I am sure. :)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments Looking forward to seeing what you think of Mr. Monster. While I enjoyed #1, I am not burning up to read #2.

message 376: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Yay, Ames, all the Shelly Laurenstons'. One of my favourites. Oh by the way I picked up that Sleeping With the Wolf (After the Crash, #1) by Maddy Barone and will read it soon :)

message 377: by Literary Ames (new)

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 1854 comments Yay, Sandra!

Question/query for those buying ebooks:
I'm all for consumer choice but when there's more than one edition of an ebook what differentiates them other than the cover? I was trying to figure this out when buying the Laurenston books above. I got the cheapest and hoped for the best. If the cover is the only difference then what's the point?

message 378: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments That's an interesting question! I didn't realise there were different ebook versions.

Apart from the fact that they periodically re-release popular books, with new covers. Probably so they can spruik and get more buyers.

I'd be buying the cheapest unless I wanted a particular cover.

message 379: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments Sometimes the formatting is different -- at least on the Amazon versions.

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments I bought A Brush of Darkness, Abby Sinclair #1, by Allison Pang. Looks interesting, esp curious about the "...Now, she has an enchanted iPod, a miniature unicorn living in her underwear drawer" part of the synopsis. LOL! Miniature unicorn! We'll see.

A Brush of Darkness by Allison Pang

And Nightshade, Jillian Conrad #1, by Michelle Rowen. Not to be confused with Nightshade by Andrea Cremer. :)

Nightshade (Nightshade, #1) by Michelle Rowen

Awesomevegan (AKA JenReads) (awesomevegan) | 468 comments LOL at the mini unicorn! That sounds adorable!

message 385: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments I just bought: Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake (Love By Numbers, #1) by Sarah MacLean A Hunger Like No Other (Immortals After Dark, #2) by Kresley Cole

These are truly splurges for me since I have so many books I own. But I can't get these from my overdrive libraries, I normally am not a fan of PNR, but everyone seems to love the IAD that I am going to give it a try.

A miniature unicorn! Very unique. :)

message 386: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh, I recently bought those two as well Regina. Haven't gotten to reading any of them though.

message 387: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments Who knows when I will get to them, lol but I will be looking for your reviews. :)

message 388: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments I love A Hunger Like No Other (Immortals After Dark, #2) by Kresley Cole it is one of my favs, but I know some who think #2 is better, so enjoy :)

message 389: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments Thanks! I hope I do! I love the idea that if I do, there are so many to read.

message 390: by Steph, Serious series addict (last edited Feb 09, 2011 07:38PM) (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Sandra, do you could that one as #1? I read The Warlord Wants Forever back in '09, I think and never got back to that series.

ETA: But, I will! Eventually!

message 391: by Literary Ames (new)

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 1854 comments Good job you ETA'd, I was just about to say 4 stars and you never got back to it? Shame on you! LOL!

message 392: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments I read A Hunger Like No Other (Immortals After Dark, #2) by Kresley Cole before I realised The Warlord Wants Forever (Immortals After Dark, #1) by Kresley Cole existed. That's probably why I keep forgetting Warlord is #1.

Warlord was originally a novella in an anthology Playing Easy to Get by Sherrilyn Kenyon which is where I came across it sometime later.

message 393: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments LOL! I know, I know. I'm like a hyperactive, ADD kid at the toy store though. Books, books, everywhere pretty books!! So many to read ....

Oh, that makes sense. I bought the eBook, so I didn't realize it was actually a part of an anthology. Should'a known though. Thanks.

Moving #2 in my MUST READ stack for soon this year. :D

message 395: by Vivian (new)

Vivian (_vivian) | 1934 comments Hmmm, good thing it's only February, isn't your 'must read' stack growing pretty big??

message 396: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments LMAO!! I just said exactly that in the previous thread you posted on. YES, Yes, it is! Isn't it delightful!?! Think I'll live long enough to read them all??? Fun time tryin' though, right?

message 397: by Literary Ames (new)

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 1854 comments As you guys mentioned The Warlord Wants Forever (Immortals After Dark, #1) by Kresley Cole , here's a free PDF of it from Amazon:

Sandra | 25908 comments Thanks Ames, that was the only IAD I didn't own.

Awesomevegan (AKA JenReads) (awesomevegan) | 468 comments I just got spoiled by my bf today... technically yesterday. It is 1:33AM.

He got me a Sony Pocket Edition Reader! They were on sale at Borders. It is a pre-tax return/get well soon/I love you splurge present LOL. I wanted it for netgalley and library books because I have been requesting galleys like crazy and will never get through them all on the computer. I loaded my galleys on it already. Now I need to get a library card so I can add the ebooks I want to my waiting list.

I recently injured my shoulder, arm and back. This will help me feel better a bit. I already have a Kindle (1st generation) I think I have a problem. I am addicted. My bf said I am "cheating on my Kindle"

message 400: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments I'm sure that's what my hubby thinks too AV, but substitute computer for kindle. LOL.
