Vivian (_vivian) | 1934 comments It's actually a group read now for another GR group, but I haven't had the chance to start it yet. I'll let you know when I finally get around to it!

Daffodil (daffodil--ripcranberry) | 2098 comments Went out to finish my Christmas shopping today. I tried to be good and buy for other people, but then I saw Alien Tango (Katherine "Kitty" Katt, #2) by Gini Koch and it was on my wishlist.

message 257: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments I want to check out that series. It's always nice to treat yourself. Plus, that's like kismet, it was just sitting there waiting for you to walk by and buy it. :)

message 258: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Daffodil, it knew were coming!

My copy came on the 8th cause I'd preordered it, but I'm still to read the first one. LOL.

2011 for sure cause I'll put it them in the must-read challenge (is that the tbr one?). LOL.

message 259: by Daffodil (new)

Daffodil (daffodil--ripcranberry) | 2098 comments It just leapt off the shelf into my arms. Honest. LOL.

I really was trying to be good, but I had to step into Borders to do a little research. I'm going to visit my brother and mother later this week. Mom's been eyeing the e-readers and she's so difficult to buy for, so he and I are going to go in together and get her one for Christmas. It's going to be the Nook Color or the Cruz Tablet, I'm not sure which yet. My biggest worry is she has some Macular Degeneration and I don't know if the LCD screen is going to be hard on her eyes. Just one of many questions on my list to present to the salesman when we're checking out different models.

message 260: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments LOL!!

Good luck finding the right eReader for mom. Hopefully there's one out there that'll be easy on the eyes.

message 261: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Good luck Daffodil!!!

message 262: by Vivian (new)

Vivian (_vivian) | 1934 comments Daffodil - Do your research, but I've heard better things about the Nook color overall, although that could just be due to popularity.

I would also suggest playing with the Cruz at Borders, but buying through Amazon, because Borders does NOT allow you to return e-readers. Someone in another group was not happy with her Cruz, but couldn't return it because of Borders policy. I think they're $250 either way.

My personal opinion - I originally really wanted a cruz tablet, but decided if I want all the bells and whistles of a tablet, I should just get an actual tablet, because in the end, you install the same apps anyways. Now the proud owner of a kindle - e-ink probably a little better on the eyes, since I spend so much time in front of a computer anyways.

message 263: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Wow. I cannot believe Borders will not let people return ereaders! That's absurd. You can return computers up to 15 days with original receipt/packaging at most places, why not an ereader? Strange!

message 264: by Literary Ames (new)

I would love to know what any of you think of any of these books and series. :) Also if you want to buddy read any of these in the new year let me know. :) I am going to have a very happy new year!

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Thanks, AV. Duh, I should'a thought to consult Vivian's secret beau, Google. LOL!

Kristen, I've thrown up some links for you. You need to have some sort of eReader - either stand alone, like a Kindle or software on an iPhone or similar to read some of them, others can be read on your PC. Also, check out our Book Freebies thread which has a lot of great resources to find eFreebies! :)

Thank you so much!!! I haven't gotten an e-reader yet, because I love the library and used book stores. I'll have to get one, especially if there are freebees to read.

Sandra | 25908 comments Kristen, generally you can read the freebies on your computer if you don't have an ereader.

message 292: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments :( wishing I was a HG virgin ... that or a re-reader

message 293: by Vivian (new)

Vivian (_vivian) | 1934 comments I'm liking my re-read journeys so far, Steph! But maybe your memory is better than mine, I don't remember anything, and I have those, whoa, I do NOT remember that moments (thank you Ms. Frost), lol.

message 294: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments LOL! I am pretty sure I'd have some of those moments with the series I read 2009-early 2010 for sure. Maybe even more recently. Guess I should consider re-reads in the new year. Just hate passing on a new2me to re-read, even when it's one I loved the first go-round.

message 295: by Vivian (new)

Vivian (_vivian) | 1934 comments When you're finding a hard time getting to certain books...what should you do...create a challenge! The re-reads only challenge! Ugh, SOS is a bad influence on me, I think everyone can be turned into a challenge, lol.

message 296: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments LOL! We accept that challenge. :) We're the same way, finding challenges in just about anything.

message 297: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments I love re-reading my favourites! Whether for the 1st time or the 10th - if it's good I want to re-read it!
