To Splurge or Not To Splurge
So I'm thinking about splurging for a Nook. Anyone have one? Is it worth it? Do you like it? :-) Thanks for the help.
It's been two weeks since my fav bookstore closed, so I finally had to go somewhere to get my new releases. Picked up a few that were on my list:
and a few that were not

For reading books it is awesome, recently I brought all those books from borders and I had forgotten it normally takes two hands to read and you get a hand cramp with one. Terrible :-)
Anyway the biggest issue I have with it is the lend me feature. To begin you can only lend a book once and the second thing is the lend me feature goes away - this may be a publishing issue.
I have to admit I am thinking about getting a Kindle now that I can read library books and with Kindle it is easier to find .99 books or free ones. Plus the price has dropped so much! But knowing me I will make do with my kindle PC.
Back to the nook though I did have an issue where it was not downloading properly so I took it to the store and the next day I had a new one. So stuff like that make it really great.
I hear the newer version has a friend feature so that sounds cool.
So yes it was worth the money and it works well for all me needs.

LOL! Poor thing. Don't ya hate that?! Man, I am really bummed that when I go home to visit family there will be Borders to browse. :( But, B&N will have to do.
Good News! Able to return the dupe and of course I picked up a few extras:
and in my quest for discounts on new release Tuesday... WalMart came thru...
Amazing deal at Amazon today. Entire Hunger Games Trilogy in ebook is only $4.38 http://amzn.com/B004XJRQUQ
So this is gonna be huge. I'm gonna see how long it takes me to write this post up.A couple things have been happening the last couple of weeks.
First, Cindy convinced me to join PBS (and was crazy enough to lend me credits for books). I've gotten 7 books so far. Two of which were from the lovely Cindy, herself. (Sadly there was no love note or special treat for me. *has a big head* I really appreciate the books, Kate Daniels Books 3 & 4. )
So here's what I've gotten from PBS.
And apparently I can't control myself, cuz I spent some of my student loan money on a Nook, which I then need some books for. (I really do have a problem....)
So I've got a Nook, and here's the books that I've bought for it so far. (Some of the books I got were $0.99, so I don't feel quite as guilty.)
And while I was buying my Nook, I picked up the hardcovers of...
I also ordered
from B&N.com.And finally, I was lucky enough to win a few books from various blogs like the last month or two.
*sighs* What have I gotten myself into? I don't know when I'm going to get to read them....
Also, some of the Nook books have the Lend Me feature if anyone's interested in any of those, I can check it. You might have to explain to me how Lend Me works, but I have no problem sharing. Then you can tell me how it is. Haha.
HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!!!!Just wait till you start playing in the games at PBS.........
is on it's way to me now, as is
I might wanna hold off on the games. I still haven't read almost all of the books that I bought from Borders while it was closing. And that was like 30 books.
Just LMK when you are ready.....I'll hook ya up! You actually don't have to already have the book read before you put it in the games. Most every hostess gives 2 weeks (sometimes more) to read after the game ends. So, as long as you don't sign up for more than you can read, you should be OK.Today -
and
showed up in my mailbox. YAY!!!
Not sure where this info should go... But, I just received an email from Barnes & Noble that they purchased Border's customer list. If you were on their list and want to opt out you have to visit www.bn.com/borders before October 15th.

So, you got a dragon and two Runes. :D

Exactly!!!!!
:DDDDDDDDD
Very good guessing ;)
And Lethal, I'm reading Eternal Rider this month too :)
I love pre-orders and orders in general! Although, I've found that I've bought A LOT of books recently and it's taken the hype out of getting them in the mail :( probably because I see how much room I don't have for them.
I rec'd an email from Pocket After Dark about a bunch of books @ $3.99:Dark Warrior Unleashed, Dark Protector, Dark Stranger, Masked by Moonlight, Awaken Me Darkly, Hunger Like No Other, Thirty Nights with a Highland Husband, Raziel, Tempting the Highlander, Tempt me with Darkness, Moonlight Warrior, I Burn For You, Marked by Moonlight, Hush, How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf, Gentlemen Prefer Succubi, Enemy Lover, Earl of Darkness, and Blood Trinity

Definitely. Sadly, I have all the ones I want from the list, so no sale price for me. But, hopefully others can grab some good deals. :)
I have recently bought some books...
2 bucks cheaper at Wal-mart.... Heck yes, I bought them. --->
My Nook was hungry. --->
I found an autographed copy of
at HPB today. YAY!!!! Both Rosemary Laurey and J. C. Wilder autographed it! Also found a nice, barely read copy of
. Lucky day!
Apparently my Nook's "stomach" is like a bottomless pit.Bought some more books today.
In my defense, they're all on sale for $3.99.
There are more than those that are supposed to be on sale too. Plus, I think it's not just B&N that has them on sale, but others like Amazon, for example. (Not positive though.) The special is from Oct. 11 to Nov. 1.
Here's the link for the blog article where I found out about the books:
Simon & Schuster Promo - Happy Halloween: Paranormal Romance E-Books. Only $3.99
No judging ... I just haven't posted my purchase stash in a while, that's all. ;)
Forbidden Embers still hasn't arrived, dagnabit!
I was looking at the Secret McQueens, you'll have to let me know what you think. And that reminds me, I've got to read Wolf's Glory too.Very surprising FE is taking so long, like I said before I've had mine for more than a week.
:) I'll try to remember, who knows when I'll get to these beauts. LOL! I know! It's really bummin' me out. I can't check the status b/c our mail goes through an FPO. Waaaah. Gimme my book!! :P
There's no judging here, only jealousy lol ;)I'm reading Secret McQueen at the moment! I'm also looking forward to Daughter of Smoke and Bone which I've reserved at the library. That one really sounds goods :)
I'm very disappointed in myself though since last month I read over 20 books and so far in this month? Two. And it's not like I'm in a slump, it's just I was back to uni this month and work is killing me.
:D How's Secret McQueen? Liking it so far? I'm the same -- well, with little time to read b/c of uni, but unfortunately I haven't read over 10 bks/mo in a while. It's not the quantity, it's the quality. :D
@Steph: I know, work's annoying, always in the way lol. Yeah, I'm only a quarter of the way through but it's good so far. Nothing really unique but I'm intrigued to know where it's going, I'll let you know more when I'm finished :)
I just recently bought:
I've started The Hunt for Atlantis and so far i'm really enjoying all the action and adventure.

Regarding
, I'm all ready a fan of Wedel (he writes werewolf fiction and is a friend of Kelley Armstrong, she wrote an intro to Call to the Hunt) so I'm really glad he's managed to get some exposure by collaborating with someone as famous as Carrie Jones.
Bought 2 more books this month. It's freaking me out. I'm usually very frugal, since I'm you're stereotypical starving, broke-ass college student. But I keep getting this itch to buy books. Usually, a quick mental smack upside the head cures the urge but my brain is having none of it.Here's the goodies I got this time:
I picked up
from the library. Brand new, hardback, smells fantastic - I can't wait to read it!I also picked up
and... that's it. It's a rare thing to walk into a library and come out with so little but due to time being limited recently, I feel I've been very well-behaved. Go me!
Hope you enjoy Daughter of Smoke and Bone, Josie. I haven't read it yet, but I've heard good things.Let's see...
I just got
from PBS.I've also bought
