It is interesting. Either way it goes there will be a lot of change coming. Stability won't return just because they stay, and it certainly will be crazy if they leave. Fascinating. I love change (when it's far away and I don't need to see it up close but can observe from afar). I'm just hoping it is resolved peacefully!

It's all been pretty peaceful so far, despite what certain elements of the media might imply. The worst behaved have been the politicians! The Scottish police force actually put out a statement saying they weren't to be used as a political football, and the run-up to the referendum had been "overwhelmingly good natured". I'm not expecting riots in the street, no matter what the result, though a few drunken punch-ups will probably occur. Meh, what's new? LOL!I think half the population will be celebrating on Friday night, and the other half drowning their sorrows.

I'm really excited as well. So curious how they will decide.

The polls are so close that it could go either way, though my feeling is that the Yes campaign has the momentum and the grassroots support, but whether that translates to a Yes result is unknown. People often don't like change and boy this is a big one!I'm setting my alarm for very early tomorrow morning, so that I can see the results come in. The final result is expected around 7am, so I'll either be jubilant or crying into my coffee by this time tomorrow. :D
Seems like they voted against independence. Hm, a "yes" would have made things really interesting. At least from an outside point of view.
No matter what, I hope you're happy with the result, Lannister! :-)

I'm gutted. I really thought we were going to get a Yes. I was almost crying this morning, and I feel so depressed today. Ah well, the people have chosen. What can you do?:(
Hope they call for a new vote in a couple of years? Make the issue not slide away into "things we didn't accomplish" in the history books?
I'm sorry the vote didn't go your way, Lannister! I was secretly cheering for Independence too (not like it matters since I live in the US but whatever)Also, thanks everyone for the kind words about my cat. I check in with my parents about her and she seems to be doing alright.
Thanks guys. It genuinely touches my heart that so many people round the world took such an interest. I'm still depressed though. :(
Woohoo, it's Friday!! Anyone doing anything exciting at the weekend? I'm doing NOTHING and I couldn't be happier about it. :D
*bliss*

I'm going to go watch Jessabelle with my girlfriends, (one hates horror movie, and I haven't told her we're going...lol someone going to be sleeping with the light on tomorrow night..lol)
And I'll probably watch eveything I DVRed this week.
Oh Can't forget about sleep, ummmm sleep. XD
That's awesome!
My weekend will be busy. I have to finish some work, we have to stack our firewood (it's getting cold in Austria), some other things to do in the house like painting etc.
Sunday we will take tests with our shelter dogs since they all are, you know, evil pit bulls. *rolls eyes* We hope once they pass the test (which they will have to take with their new owners again), it makes it easier for them to find a home.
Next week my parents come visiting us. :-)

Emily-Ann, LOL, your poor scared friend. She's in for a horrible shock! *cackles evilly* Catching up on sleep is one of my big plans for the weekend too.Sarah, sounds like a busy weekend. I will think of you whilst snuggling under the duvet. :D
I had a much busier weekend than I thought I would. I've been out late on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. My resolution to go to bed early last night didn't turn out so well, either. I'm starting to think having a social life is too much work!I did make some super awesome pumpkin scones though, so I count it as a win.
My resolutions to go to bed early never work either, so I can sympathise. Tragically, I only get strong coffee to keep me going, and no pumpkin scones (which I did not know were a thing.)
Mmm. Pumpkin might be the only good thing about fall. Fall- the harbinger of both snow and the death of warmth. Nah. I like crunching leaves, too.
I hate it when it starts to get cold. :( We've been lucky that it's been incredibly mild (in fact, downright warm) for most of September, but I can feel the chill in the air first thing in the morning these past few days.I hate getting out of bed when it's cold outside. I should've been born as a bear. :/
It was a lot colder than I expected today, which saddened me greatly. It doesn't usually get truly cold in the district until late October, which I enjoy.
If anyone is interested in the recipe I used for the pumpkin scones, here's the link:

I didn't have cloves, so I just left it out. Also, I did not add the glaze. I really enjoy them like this and so do my roommates. I really recommend this recipe because it is quick and easy.
Those sound lovely, and easy to make too. Though I've no idea if you can get canned pumpkin in the UK. I can't recall ever seeing it, though I can't say I've ever specifically looked for it either. I don't think we eat pumpkin as much as you guys over the pond :)
Oh Yummy!!Definitely going to give them a try!
I'm sure I should be able to use fresh pumpkin in place of canned.
Claire - canned pumpkin - is it already 'pureed' or is it just diced and preserved?
Hehe, we're all going to get the chub on in this group! ;)I can't stop eating Nigella Lawson's Breakfast Bars. They are incredibly addictive, and I tell myself that, despite the sugary carnation milk, they're good for me because they're packed with seeds, nuts and oats. I ate them all summer as a portable snack when I was out cycling. This is the recipe if anyone's interested:
http://www.nigella.com/recipes/view/b...
Also, I'm totally gay for Nigella. That's got nothing to do with anything. :P
Pumpkin in cans are usually puréed, right? I may have bought one once. This looks like a good time to buy another :) I love pumpkin pie, but it never works out for me. Crusts and I have issues. :P
I'm back! I moved from one to the other part of the city and had no internet at home till now. Also I didn't read much in the year I've been away. I did read Masks and the Pritkin stort :)
I feel a bit bad for leaving and not saing anything to you but LIFE (economically speaking...damm crisis!) has been a bit rough with me and my family :'(
I've skipped thru the comments a bit and saw that you gals have been busy ( Arushi congrats!!! and Zeenat hope your baby and you are doing fine :) )and not missed me...yey!
From today on I will be around GR more, but if on a tread I do not get back to you in 3 days...please continue w/ me :)
To stick with the fall/pumpkin theme, I recently made Pumpkin Cheesecake Snickerdoodles. They turned out great and didn't last very long!http://therecipecritic.com/2013/09/pu...

Hey Missdevora! Welcome back! I'd noticed that you disappeared a while back and hadn't been on GR for ages. I sometimes worry a bit when someone just disappears, because you really hope nothing bad has happened to them. I'm glad you're OK, even if things have been rough. I hope your family's situation picks up. I know the whole of Spain has it really tough right now.
But I'm glad so you're around again! *sends hugs*

OMG those look fantastic!!! *drools*
Oh Lannie thank you for the warm welcome! Sending lots of blessings and a big hug ((( <3 )))
OMG that looks too yummy to eat!!!
LOL!Why is it that cooking desserts and other tasty delights is never such hard work as peeling and chopping vegetables?!
I had Gwyneth Paltrow chicken for dinner tonight. I read this recipe/stream of conciousness article and I just had to try it. I can't say it's the best chicken I've ever had, but it was pretty tasty. It's not actually called 'Gwyneth Paltrow Chicken', but that's how I'll refer to it in my head from now on.

All recipes should written like this one was! I don't even like Gwyneth Paltrow, but the article made me want to try the dish anyway.
I noticed people were missing, I just didn't say it because it would look like I was stalking. :PPfft I had the greatest birthday ever Tuesday, my dad got fired. He's 59 so no social security yet and his work (where he has been since they moved to Texas in 06) left my dad hanging for like a week. Knowing he was going to be fired, but they wouldn't come out and say it for certain until they got the police accident report. Oh, because he totaled another car. :D It wasn't a company car it was his personal car. My dad is the opposite of the rainman he is not a very good driver, I think I would be a better driver.
extra ugh because the fax/copy machine is in my room and my dad just had to make copies early this morning. Not cool dude to wake up to beep boop beep beep as you press the buttons!
Our dogs are gonna get fat now that he will be home more. After I did all of the work getting them better/healthier food/treats....
Thanks, we are pretty sure it they just grabbed at a reason to get rid of my dad. The new VP hates the fact that they had to make accomidations to someways of doing stuff because my dad is very hard of hearing. Can't proove it though ... the mixed blessing of having it in writing which can either be a blessing or a curse.
Yeah, if you notice people are missing, and nobody else says anything, it is best not to mention it. Because, you know, what if they were taken by aliens? That is embarrassing, and then the aliens might know that you knew.
Yep, best to just keep quiet about it all.
Anyone else have Book Release Fatigue? I feel like I've been waiting for RtW for so long that I hardly care anymore. Apathy is setting in.
Nah, I don't really feel like that exactly. My problem is wishing we had a firm release date so that I know how long I have to wait, and can mentally adjust for it. It's the not knowing that's the worst part for me. Even if it was announced it was going to be six months away, I could deal with that (grudgingly!) because at least I'd know.
I agree with Lanniser!Though it is definitely tiring Kathleen.
At least if they'd give us a date, I wouldn't constantly be having to search around like a madwoman to see if there were any updates. *sighs*
LOL, I know how you feel Jax. Every time I look at Amazon and Book Depository (and I have to check both in case only one has changed) I want to scream at the monitor because they both *still* show 4th November! It's so annoying!I think we're all feeling the general frustration of a delayed release, but it's manifesting in different ways. :/
Sorry to you know... butt in.. in the middle of the conversation about the release date.... but god I have missed you guys!
I feel like I have been missing for forever. I wasn't even lurking around :( been completely out of the loop - so actually I did not even know RtW was delayed...
Anywho.. just came by to say Hi :)
My wedding is in less than 2 months (2nd December) and things are... hectic. Its a big, fat, Rajasthani wedding and... yeah. I am glad I wanted one :)
Arushi, you have been missed. Sounds like you are super busy.Is you wedding *in* Rajasthan? Is that where you are?
A friend of a friend is from India but Ives in Houston. She married a man from a different part of India and perhaps as different flavor of Hinduism, and they had traditional ceremonies from both Indian states in full splendor in one day in Houston, with completely different gorgeous outfits for each ceremony.
My friend Kate said the two ceremonies and the preparations in between took all day, but it was magnificent! And, of course, the food was superb. She had a wonderful time.
But the planning and organization involved must have been staggering!
Hi Kathleen, mostly yep to everything :) I am in Rajasthan. In Jaipur to be precise.
Indian weddings are long. Even when you shorten them.. they tend to easily last a day in India. Even the actual wedding ceremony takes like 2 to 3 hrs.
We're not bothering to shorten my wedding... so it's officially starting in the morning of the 30th of Nov. and will officially end on the afternoon of the 3rd of Dec.
With lots of clothes, lots of food, lots of family, friends and lots of well.. everything.
I haven't seen Monsoon wedding - but from what I've heard - its pretty much true :D
About pictures... they'll be up on facebook quite quickly.. everywhere else.. I am sure I will figure out a way so you guys can see them :) it'll just be a while before I do that tho.
EDIT: If you google Mubarak Mahal, City Palace, jaipur - you will see my wedding venue :)
And if you google Kalwar Castle, Rajasthan - you will see the venue for the sangeet (a pre-wedding dance party of sorts - happening on the night of the 30th).
Arushi! Welcome back. :DI was thinking about you the other day, and thinking about how your wedding was getting close. I googled those venues and, wow, they look fantastic!! I know you've talked about family weddings before and how they can last a week. Man, we like a piss up in Scotland, but that's pushing it even by our standards LOL!
I don't know how much you'll be around in the next couple of months, but I can't wait to see pics either, cos I think it's going to be amazing for you!! I love that Indian weddings are so bright and colourful compared to the (mostly) boring old suits and white meringue dresses you get in the west. Are you willing to share any info on your outfit? (I totally understand if you want to keep it secret!)
Thinking of you. *sends hugs*
