I believe there is one on eBay now for $149. Just be sure to check the Android version. It should be at least 4.1. Make sure it isn't one of the old ones with Android 2.3. That could become obsolete soon.
I read all of my books on my iphone. My daisy books, (from bookshare.org) my talking books, (from NLS.gov) I use the ibook app to read pdfs, and I use my kindle app. I use it a lot....I have never had the same issue with it slowing down my phone. I never had space issues either, though I don't keep a lot of books on my device and have only like 250+ books. My talking books take up the most space and that is 1gb because they are mp3s.
Received my new Arc 7 today. Finally!Only drawback for me is there is no way to use a keyboard (not sure about the models with Bluetooth, but this 64 GB model definitely cannot).
The storage is heaven. Kindle reader works again!
So now I can resume downloading tons of free books at one hundred free books.com!
What is an Arc 7??I've been going crazy with my headaches lately. I don't really have anything to do on my days off except wander around the house being miserable. Merp.
Bright side: I'm so excited because I'm going to see a Yankees vs. Red Sox game (go Yankees!) and then on Saturday I'm going to a Fall Out Boy concert!!!

My brother had a similar experience to Lannister on his bike about 2-3 weeks ago but with a car coming round a blind corner on a track. Ended up in hospital with various broken parts. A&E sent him home with some band aid too.
@Joscelin, yeh the European history/museum thing is pretty cool I went to a meeting in London on Friday - you could see the Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey from the conference centre over lunch! But the US landscape is awesome too.
Ouch! Hope your bro is OK Anna. I started watching the Tour de France for the first time this year, since I've been cycling so much. I can't decide if those guys are supermen or completely nuts! They push themselves until they've literally got nothing left and are about to pass out, and there are so many accidents and injuries (going down mountains at 90kph in the rain is not for the faint-hearted.) And then you get the tears and such raw emotion when someone crashes out. I'm completely obsessed LOL!

Well, I moved to Orlando, Florida for the summer and I have to say USA swallowed me up. I have barely any time to read anymore, or keep up with you guys here! Randomly, I am having breakfast outside in my backyard, wishing for time to read a good book. Recomendations for a good UF series welcomed.
I would kill to go to the beach. If I was in Florida I would refuse to leave the beach. I went the Vegas earlier this summer and it was so hot that we sat by the pool a lot and the only thing that would have made it better was if it was by the ocean and not in the middle of the desert. Have you gone to Disney world? I could use new books also. A friend told me to read the October Daye books but I've held off. Has anyone read them?
I went to the beach last Saturday and while it was a lot of fun, we got a storm in the afternoon, which happens daily around here. Also, it is very humid and hot, you step outside and it sticks to you. I have not been to Disney yet, because I work in Universal Studios which is a lot of fun, but it takes up most of my time, especially since I do not have a car, I have to take the bus everywhere, and Orlando is very big without a car.
But going to Disney is on my to-do list and I hope I will go there in the two months I have left here.
I have heard of October Daye, but I cannot even remember what they were about. I would reccomend the Alex Craft series, and the novels by Jess Battis(cannot remember the name of the series) but they were really cool, a sort of supernatural CSI.

Where did you move from, Scarlet?And I'm in North Carolina at the beach for vacation. I'm torn between being thrilled because I'm on vacation and stressed because I'm so close to going back to school. Normally I wouldn't be so worried about it, but of course this is my senior year and grad school is looming. Eeeeep!

Claire, I moved Macedonia(Europe) and I am stressing about going back to school tok! But thats in three months for me. I get to come back later than usual because my school is leinient towards students that go away for the summer.
One of the good things about being home for the summer is having my parents around. My mom is one of the few people who can talk some sense into me, and I think I have a plan now. :)
So much has happened with me it is stupidand I will attempt not to construct a dissertation or novel about the events.I had to put my dog Boomer to sleep, his arthritis suddenly took a turn for the worse and the meds I had him on that helped started giving him the side effects. It was a tough decision, but if anyone has had to put down a sick animal they might understand. So I lost my constant companion in my big boy--I talk to my dogs a lot because people give me hives sometimes and talk back.
It took a couple of weeks and a lot of patient waiting for me to adopt another dog. It might seem callous to some people, but focusing on getting that done helped me not think about Boomer too much.
I didn't want to get a dog as big as he was, but I didn't want to get a little dog either. So, I adopted a chow/irish setter(we think)/maybe shepard medium size dog. He is only a little over a year old and seems to fit all around. Though I think I might put a bell on him--not even finally getting his tag on his collar helped--he is a freaking ninja dog.

@Llaph I am so sorry about Boomer. I have had to have two pets euthanized, and even though they were dying and we were just shortening their period of suffering by hours, or at most a few days, it was heart wrenching. I hope your new guy becomes just as close a friend in his own way.
Oh Llaph, I'm so sorry about your dog. It's heart-breaking to lose a beloved pet. I'm glad you were able to get another one and I don't think it's callous in the least. Everyone deals with grief in their own way, and if a new dog helps you to move on, then it's a good thing (and good for the new dog to go to a nice home too!)What did you call him?
@Kathleen:It had gotten so bad that he was to the point where the vet was offering the shot, which is basically a last ditch effort and is only good for giving the animal a few more weeks. I did a lot of research and when my sister mentioned that ... well I couldn't do that to him. Not to mention the shot would be $350 initially with $50 a month after that. Plus, the new meds he wanted him on were $5 a tablet and he would have to take 1.5 a day because of his size.

My sister is a crier and well I'm not. I hate crying--long story there. So I focused on finding another dog to adopt. At first I looked @ the rescue sites for rhodesians because I love their temperaments, but I couldn't find one in TX that would fit the reqs of liking other dogs and children. My sister first found a dog that was part rhodesian and seemed all around perfect, but when we contacted the shelter he had already been adopted ... and shipped to Washington state. Apparently they do not have a lot of strays up there. It was okay because he had a dumb name imo. Let's call a red dog Rusty why don't we?
I didn't name him, but he came with the name Cooper and I like it. Though it leaves it open for my dad to call him pooper and other stuff. That's my dad though, I hear him playing fetch with him in the living room atm hah.My dad says he doesn't like male dogs or little boys and cooper will refer to him as Mr. Marney instead of dad like the other two dogs. But, cooper is so sweet you can't help but love on him. He says that my sister, who is pregnant with twins, better have daughters because if she has boys they will have to call him Mr. Marney too. I hope to have a pic of him soon, the lady I adopted him from took a bunch of pics of us for some reason and promised to send some to me.
@Llaph Your dad sounds like a character. I can just imagine two tiny boys trying to say Mr. Marney. I think it would basically come out sounding like Mawmaw. That'll teach him!
And, yeah, vet bills have gotten **outrageously** high.
@ Kathleen:Haha, that isn't even the half of it. I could tell some stories.... A friend of our's 3 year old calls him pee-paw (don't ask wtf he got that) and my mom prefers to be called mamaw (like we used to call her mom)and says she doesn't want to be grandma because that was my dad's mom's name.
My Boomer was 125 lbs and in the interimbetween vet visits and trying what to figure out I had to give him tramadol. You know how much? 5 in the morning and 5 in the evening, same dose as my mom. I think it funny that the joint medicine he took was the same as what my mom took too. That ontop of the mega expensive glucosamene/joint supplement thing I gave him everymorning. We had just bought a bottle before we had to put him to sleep too so that was $115 that went bibi. I had to bug her for an extra few tramadol for Boomer one day. What sucks was that tramadol didn't work on the inflammation of joints that he had so he still limped, it just blocked the pain receptors for him. I hated hearing him limp behind me, he went everywhere with me which meant he got up sometimes to follow me to the gbathroom right next to my room.
@Llaph Well, sure. Mamaw and Peepaw just go together.
@Llaph So is the glucosamine supplement in the form of doggy treats? It would be nice if it was something that could help your mom...
@kathleen:It is because that is the dog stuff. they're treat flavored chewables Boomer loved them. haha They are the super good stuff apparently, you can only buy them @ the vet or with an RX. I think a friend of ours gives her dogs the same thingg. The container is only missing like 8 tablets. My sister keeps forgetting to ask though ... she bought them last time so it is her money~
My mom takes tramadol and meloxacam and Boomer took those
mamaw goes with papaw meemaw goes with peepaw weird ass southerners. It depends on where in the country you are. My ex boyfriend's nephews called his mom and dad meemaw and peepaw, they live in Louisiana. I have heard mamaw and papaw here in Texas though, so wtf knows.
@Llaph My dad's family came to Texas before it was TeX's, as illegal aliens sneaking into Mexico (now upper East Texas) in 1832.My grandparents were Nana and Pampa (pronounced pawmph) on Daddy's side and Nana D and Grandad on Mama's side (Irish and Arkansas Scottish)
My parents called themselves Mimi and Papa. And my sisters call themselves Nana.
One of Nana"s sisters was called Gay by her grand kids, Thete was apparently a lot of "Grandma" phobia on both sides of the family. And their father and grandfather we're both English...
I never knew there were regional patterns in that (my family being so mied up), but it makes sense. Texas has/had a sort of patchwork of little microregional accents, because people would settle in groups from different countries and Southern states and retain their accents.
So I took my cat to the vet a few days ago because I could tell that she wasn't feeling well. They took blood but at first just said she fine. Well, they called back yesterday morning and as it turns out she has kidney failure. It could be that she just has a urinary tract infection and they can fix it...or not. She's 14 which is pretty old for a cat but I've had her for all of those 14 years and it's so hard to think she's dying.
Awww, Claire. so sorry to hear that. Fingers crossed that it is something treatable.
@Claire:I hope for you it is treatable too. It might just be a diet change she needs because she is getting old. It is never easy to have to think about that, but you have to think about what is best for the animal and you.

Sorry about Boomer Llaph and I hope your cat rallies Claire; wet food helps with kidney problems - cats tend not to drink enough.Been on holiday, came home, back to work, caught a bug and spent 2 days off.

You can also mix wet cat food with water (about half and half) to get the cat to take in more water.Also, buy only the pate style canned food, not the morsels with gravy (which is high carb and not good for them).
I even had to give my cat subcutaneous fluids for many months. Not fun, but he was worth it.

Thank you for the nice words.I got a new dog--though he is nothing like Boomer.... His name is Cooper, he is a chow/setter mix, is so freaking cuddly, likes to lick you (I think that is a chow thing because a chow we had years ago was a licker too) he is also tigger dog. I am serious when I say that he hops a lot ... people have said that when they come into the house he will jump up and backwards like a llama. I also hear him hop near me--never on me. His head comes up to about mid thigh and he is only a little over a year old, has big paws and long legs to grow into so who knows right?
I researched ways to get water to pets and one of the big things is that they don't drink enough water. A lot of suggestions were for pet fountains--who wants to drink water out of a cup that has sat there for a while? I understand that and was looking stuff up because Cooper is afraid of the water dispenser. I guess it bubbled before he figured out it had water in it and he refuses to go near it and drinks out of a bowl near instead. Pet fountains--small ones anyway--can go for $25 and up on amazon I saw. I would need a big one because we have three dogs. Though, if we get one it will have streams and we already have issues with She-Ra playing in the water bowl as it is--imagine if she had up to 5 streams to play in?
Wow, lots of pet related craziness going on lately. We had a weird experience with our dog. He's a miniature Jack Russell, so quite tiny but thinks he's enormous. He got attacked by a bigger dog, who fortunately didn't injure him very seriously but did puncture his trachea - something that will heal in its own time but has the very weird side effect of air from his wind pipe seeping under his skin :O he's swollen up like a balloon and looks horribly fat, the poor dog, but fortunately it doesn't seem to bother him too much. He has temporarily been renamed Puffy. It's a little funny really, because he's a very fit, muscular dog, who goes on a lot of runs and walks and now he looks like a little doggy sumo wrestler. Ridiculous! @Llaph, good luck with your new dog, I hope he's settling in well and @Claire, sorry to hear about your kitty :( I hope she's doing okay.
Aww. Poor little animals! Best of luck to you all. My kitty had a thorn a couple weeks ago. So sad! But I'm glad it was something so easy to fix. Our last paw problem cost me over $800. He either got stuck in a trap or a dogs mouth.
Oh man, tomorrow Scotland goes to the polls to decide on Independence. I've been completely obsessed with the referendum for weeks and I'm both terrified and exhilarated at what might happen. I can hardly believe the big day is almost on us.Interesting times! :D
