@Claire Very.@Llaph That's another reason I don't have a dog. I live in a condo and there's decent room in here, just not space enough for a dog, at least, nothing older than a puppy. Plus, we're on the 4th floor, so taking a dog for walks would be a pain in the ass.
Great Danes are actually considered great apartment dogs because they don't need a lot of exercise, they don't really make noise, and don't need to be taken out as often as a smaller dog. Just so you knpw ;pThey're my favorite type of dog. I think the world would be better off if everyone had one.
I actually think I wouldn't mind having a Great Dane despite how big they get. They're still cute. Great Dane puppies are really cute.
I adore them. They're so cute and cuddly. Mine thought she was a lapdog. She was absolutely terrified of pugs; it was so funny!
I've heard that Great Danes like to think they are lapdogs. I think they just don't grow out of that puppy stage no matter how big they get.
I had rescued a puppy and she was my first dog that was my own ... I took this dog to work with me and she went everywhere with me too. She was like black lab and bull mastiff, she was so veryvery smart too. The bad thing was I was in an apartment on the 2nd floor and it was a pain to have to go up and down the stairs. (no elevator) I was glad when I moved back down to so cal and there was a doggie door. so verrrrrry glad. I miss chica. :(I had a cat named lizzie ... but she was named after lizzie borden.
Great danes are awesome dogs I will agree with that. I had a friends dog put his paws on my shoulders while I was standing against the truck eating a muffin and he reached out and took it outta my hands ... not a very well behaved dog. Glad it was a poppy seed muffin and not a chocolate chocolate chip one that morning.
My dog she-ra has a big napoleon complex, that is coupled with the fact she is a giant wuss and will bark at anything too. She is very vocal period, we had one dog before that talked this much also. She just did not bark like a moron at everything.
I love dogs. Cats are okay but I'm a dog person.
I have a bull terrier amstaff mix named Charly. He was one of my shelter dogs.
For those who don't know, I'm doing volunteer work there and walk, train etc. dogs. It has its negative sides because you see what ignorant, heartless idiots many people are. But it's also a lot of fun because you learn a lot and get so much in return. You also make their lives in the shelter a bit more bearable until they hopefully get adopted.
My fave breeds of dogs are definitely bull terrier, staffordshire terrier and pitbulls. <3

That's awesome, Sarah. I originally wanted to work somewhere that did dogs and cats, but the Petco I'll be at is the closest place to where I live, so I decided to go there. Since they have in-store cat adoption, it's pretty cool. Plus, the cats are rescues, too. The rescue is actually run by an organization, but the Petco lets them house cats there for adoption.I bet that is a really good learning experience, though.
I adore pets ... they are so cute and furry ..We personally have one dog and five cats, four females and one male, and I love them ...
One thing that really makes me laugh is when they think that everything in the house is theirs and they can sleep on it (Things like my PC,journal or even my Cell Phone)...
But of all my cats only the male is playful (he is the youngest,so maybe it's explains it)
Cats think that they can sleep anywhere ... my cat cat thought it was okay to sleep on my chest when I was sleeping. That was okay even if I have a rather large chest ... what was not okay was her habit of kneading what she was laying on a lot of the times.Hi ... that hurts damnit....

Too cute!
@Alina One of my friends has cats that like to sleep on her face, too.
Ya, but did they knead your face?!My cat fasa liked to sleep on my head, he was a big freaking cat too. Think heathcliff on steroids.
btw ... just an fyi:
Dogs do not appreciate being febreezed ... shoulda gotten out of my way.
Febreeze is a god send if there is something you smell and have nfi what it is, much less where. Or have a dog that has discharge issues with her eyes that no one but you can smell and it drives you nuts. Even if you chased her down and washed herface with warm water. I don't really want to wash my comforter every other day ... my dad would have a fit at the water bill. What is this painting? What is it for? What medium are you using? It is a hobby or what?
See, I'm allergic to Febreeze and to me it just smells like chemicals. And my painting is for my final art project in a painting class I'm taking. It's acrylic on fabric. I haven't gotten the fabric in yet though so I'm experimenting with the design I want in my sketch book. I can't seem to get the effect I want.
My stroke took the majority of my sense of smell so things smell weird to me a lot of the times. I can't stand the smell of onions cooking on their own, in stuff is okay. I also can't stand pork in almost any form other than bacon or ribs. It literally makes me sick to my stomach. blehThat sounds interesting. I always loved art classes. So the canvas is fabric ... so the texture can play into what you choose to paint? So many possibilities ... do you have a genral idea of what you want to do? Flowers, landscapes, abstract, people, animals, or a bunch of different things?
The only restrictions are the mediums?
Sorry if I babble this sort of thing still excites me even if I can't see it.
Actually the only restriction is the subject matter. It's got to be non-objective abstract art. The assignment is supposed to be a "painting as object." So I decided to get cotton fabric (not canvas) paint it, and sew it into a pillow. I want the colors to be very bright and clear, and allow the white of the fabric to show through. But I'm having trouble getting the effect I want.
Ooo that sounds cool. I know when I painted with watercolors I would use wax to cover what I did not want to paint, or use it to add texture to the picture. I am not certain how you could use it for a pillow though and remove it later. Maybe try duct tape? (I seriously love and use that stuff for a lot of things all the time ... it is so useful!)Or painter's tape, I think that that works better to keep out moisture than duct tape.
Maybe you could use that to put a pattern on the pillow, paint it, wait for it to dry, and then take it off.
Oh yeah, and painter's tape is easier to cut up into designs. Duct tape is too sticky to attempt precision.
At least you have art to show Lannister... I suck too much to ever attempt anything. I do like Llaph's idea about painter's tape though.
I hope your project turns out awesome Claire :) Best of Luck and do show us a pic once its complete.
I like the idea of going to art classes, but I'd never feel confident enough to actually go to them cos I can't draw to save my life. It's dumb, really, cos classes could probably help me master the basics and I do believe that with practice you can become reasonably proficient (though maybe not brilliant) at anything.I'll stick to goofing about on my PC and possibly in about ten years I won't feel the need to apologise in advance every time I post a pic LOL!
@ lannister:It takes practice ... when I first started sketching I sucked and would totally not draw things right. One of those things is drawing people's feet right, sounds dumb, but I could not get the perspective right until I learned it while in art class. (granted my friend showed me, but it was still in art class.) Even if you don't like it, or whatever medium you learn in, it will teach you something.
In high school for my AP/IB art class final semester I chose to use sculpting as my focus for that semester and I did not know much of anything. I learned how to prepare the clay before working it, how important it was to not get air bubbles in what you are doing (else it can blow up in the kiln ... no really fun noice), the ways to decorate clay with slips or oxides ... at the end of the year I had actually one 1st place in an art show for my medium/class level. (I did not submit myself though pushy teacher).
If you don't get better you learn better discipline and sometimes just going through the motions can help you think clearer and put what you are thinking about in order. Well that is what would happen for me, even when I would screw around with photoshop.
Whoa ... I wonder wtf I was channeling for that....
Oh, and wtf it is a class ... you LEARN stuff at a class. No one really starts in a class knowing everything....
LOL, I imagined going to an art class and there'd be all these smug Da Vinci wannabes and little ole me drawing like a five year old LMAO!I understand completely what you're saying about discipline and I think the skill comes from basic stuff like being able to draw perspective (something I'm shit at!) I imagine drawing simple things repeatedly until you can do them really well gives you a really good foundation for the more complicated things.
I have little confidence when it comes to drawing by hand though and I don't think I could make myself show my 'efforts' to anyone, cos they're pretty bad. But, having said that, I hardly ever try to sketch or even doodle so I've only myself to blame!
I will admit to being really rather bad at lots of forms of art before I started looking it up and practising it.I still have all of my sketch books and you can see from the first one the progress I made throughout to the last one. :x
I rarely if ever wanted to show what I had done/made. I don't even really show the things that I write. I mean there are a few things I have posted to the whinefest that is my blog to which I stopped doing because I wanted to smack myself, but I haven't shown anyone the story I have been working on for forever. That includes the first like 15k words I had written, the plot summary, the character details, world notes, and the other random notes that I jotted down for it. I admit to not having messed with it since I seperated from my husband, but I can be easily distracted I guess now.
Post it notes on your monitor don't work if you never use a monitor....
I have messed with the idea of deleting all of my posts that had come from my journal that irritate me, but there are posts within those days which I rather like. It would just be a matter of going through and dleting stuff that I don't like and I am too lazy for that I am thinking.
I rather like the posts that I made for single things ... I do a wtf a lot at the popularity of some of my titles and want to wonder what the hell people were searching for when they found my articles. I think that in order to preserve my sanity I should not think on it.
I think you suffer from the same issue as me, in that we are our own worst critics. I do some web design for shits and giggles and I think I'm OK at it. But then I look at some professionally produced sites and I could cry cos I know I'll never be that good. But, then, I look at some other sites and know that my stuff is waaay better than theirs. I guess, no matter what you do, there will ALWAYS be someone who's better at it, and you just have to persevere and stick with it. And you DO get better. I cringe at some early design stuff I've done now and I can see how far I've come. I also see how far I'd like to go, and I probably won't ever get there. But c'est la vie. Whatcha gonna do? :)
La la la I have so much work and not that much time to do it in. I'm going to go crazy before this week is over, mark my words. My physics hw finally started to make sense around 1am last night
I stopped caring about my blog, mainly because I don’t know what it looks like so who cares? I hate the new dashboard/formatting for it also. I had to add paragraph html tags to break up the paragraphs since just hitting enter did not work.Title

So … yeah.
before the big change blogger did I had written this entry, I am sure if I dig around with the stats I could update the keywords. The two entries I mention are still the most viewed articles….

You could always try drawing with your eyes shut Lannister. Mine kind of looked like a Picasso sketch rather than just a bad drawing of a cat. :D

And the comments about art continue ...I laughed hard at this:

She-ra just sits and waits on me like it is an imposition for her to wait on my slow ass. I put up the baby gate to keep her and sprite out of my room, it lasted for a few hours till she-ra started talking at me and trying to bust the gate down with her chest. When I gave in and took it down she gave me a stern talking to. Seriously she talks to you ... its cute most of the time.
Back when I was still in high school I rescued a cat (her name was cat ... it just happened) and she lived with my family till I moved out after graduation up to wa state ... my parents moved to a house that came with a dog. This dog did not like cats and well ... just well.
I will say one of the best inventions is the doggie door and that it is pretty easy to teach a dog to use one. Having a dog while living in an apartment is a pain in the damn ass. Especially if you lived above the first floor.
