So this just came to mind but what type of books do you think each character would read? I think Pritkin would be an Alan Moore graphic novel type...what do you gals think?
I reckon Mircea reads Machievelli's "The Prince." And possibly the classics: Charles Dickens anyone? I think Cassie would be a chicklit girl when she ever gets time to read. Didn't KC say that Pritkin loved books in Shadowland? I don't really know what he reads. I'd say lots of factual books. Probably chemistry books.
I think he's read some fiction/legend, too - didn't he say something about how wrong the King Arthur stories are?Maeve, hope your date was awesome...
Happy St. Patrick's Day everybody! (I'm a bit late, but it's the thought that counts) Did anyone go to any cool parades or do anything fun? Like painting themselves green? I saw a lot of green people yesterday. Maybe it's just an Irish thing.
No green paint, but lots of cider was had as we were hit on by two yahoos from Kerry. My friend could only understand about half of everything they said. Heh heh.
Oh, that's definitely gotta happen! I'm not gonna have much time though. We should probably start soon actually.
I only did one group reread before so I'm no reference. It was for the Black Dagger Brotherhood prep for Lover Unleashed release. It went like this: 1 week per book and novella (if it applied in the time reference). Each day with a theme or character to discuss and day 6 was favorite scenes and day 7 favorite quotes. Granted it was PNR so there is more characters and room for speculation. The girl who directed it was amazing and I don't know how she found the time each and every day to log in, very time consuming for like 8 weeks in a row. She even made us hunt all the songs references in the books for a playlist.
Wow, that does sound exhaustive! I probably won't really be that intensive. In fact, I definitely won't be. I get enough book analysis in school. We're currently ploughing through The Kite Runner. I know it's supposed to be some sort of master piece but I maintain that a)a bestseller and a masterpiece are not necessarily and are in fact rarely, synonymous and b) there's enough reality in the world without reading about it as well! Bring on the dancing dragons!
Too true.4 books would mean 4 weeks (excepting Dory books and novellas but again it could be useful).
May 10th - 16th: Touch the dark
May 17 - 23th: Claimed by shadow/Day of the dead
May 24- 30th:Embrace the night
May 31 - 6th: Curse the dawn
We could discuss characters, events that affects them and how it relate to Hunt the moon. Speculations on where the story is headed...
day 1 could be Cassie, day 2 Pritkin (not partial at all here), day 3 Mircea, day 4 secondary characters (senate, silver circle, ghosts...), day 5 ???, day 6 favorite scene, day 7 fav quotes?
Perfect! Valerie, I nominate you to be debate leader/inspirer for the group reads! *sigh of relief* (good leadership is all about delegation)
Crap. Me and my big mouth, maybe some help because I can't make it work for 4 weeks...I'm forgetful like that.Should Lia side story and queen's witch novellas be included? And if so when in the timeline? I guess we will see more of the Circle politics and Lia could give some clues but not essential.
don't include the side novellas, that would be too much. I would be willing to help Valerie. Whatcha need me to do?
I was only joking really, it can be a group effort. But that does sound like a good scheme, Valerie and I'll help too :) Maybe we should take a book each.
Ok, we have at least 4 peoples (myself included) interested in doing it. I would be game for book 1 or 2, hunt interesting tidbits and facts for discussion.

Hmmm, they've just posted the winner for ChKB and, although I adore Conan Doyle and read a lot at the time, I can't quite place the association between Pritkin's locker number and the writer. Some thoughts? ;-) The flat was after all 221B.. close enough? I mean... how did someone come up with such random idea? ;-]
Yeah I have to say, it's the first time I won a contest. In fact I had no real idea, so I just posted whatever was associated with '221'. Here's part of the e-mail:Warning: some spoilerish HtM info
"I don't know its meaning, but let me entertain you with my wild guesses:
*In -221 China is united under the emperor Qin Shi Huangdi (dunno what it has to do with Pritkin)
*Pritkin is a fan of Arthur Conan Doyle and likes the address 221 Baker Street
*.221 Remington Fireball were his favorite firearm at one point
* His birthday is february 22 th/ or it's the day Ruth died/ the day he was banished from Hell
* He actually killed 22 100 demons, but the locker had only 3 ciphers
*... (and no, I do not believe in anything written above)"
Upon reflection I find the idea of Pritkin being a Conan Doyle fan rather cute. He did live in Victorian England after all.^^

First of all, CONGRATS! ;-D
Second of all, I love the 22100 kills idea...so... sentimental ;-P
But the CD fan is quite cute. Suits Pritkin as most of the stories are rooted in folk stories, of which Pritkin is quite fond of. Let me just say one name... Johny Cash ;-D
Way to go girl!
hehe he... thanks! ((HUGS))I shall listen to Johnny Cash's complete discography on Youtube while reading CKB. (it's only fair ^^)

I Walk the Line would suit Pritkin... ;-D

I hope you've eaten by now or are in the process of cooking something!
