The Sport Spot - Comment here on what's happening in the world of Aussie sports!
Oh yes, I remember Jessica!!! It took something like 46 years before the premiership was won in 2009!!
Sad, sad day Michael...;)

"Most exciting playing group of the clubs history" -Niel Craig. Remember when he said that a few weeks ago? I totally agree with him! I love watching them play :D
all of my friends-well, the ones who follow the afl-go for the crows. Its nice after the last few showdowns.
Well, when I was 4, there was a boy I went to kindergarten with. And everyday he would get picked up at home time by his step dad, who was Fabbian Francis, a Port player. He would always bring free merchandise for us (caps, bottles, wristbands etc...) and have a kick of the ball with us.
So yeah, thats why Im a Port fan :)
And my dad is a Port fan too, so that helps.
Two words: Bernard Tomic.
Anybody see him? He just finished playing? 19 year old Aussie through to quarter finals at Wimbleton...Already beat a handful of players in top 20 rankings, including #5!
because my mother is not here i have not been forced to watch the tennis, and can actually watch some league and can i just say the Titains are sucking! dear god that was the worst game ever!
Also pretty happy with lockyer getting a bronze statue with the king, sad he is retiring

I love tennis :) But only when I care about the result...
Can't say the same for NRL though. AFL is where its at :)
I dont understand AFL its all to messy for my liking players are just every where! But i do respect how hard it is to play...Always loved league..I think its from playing touch
Thats what I think of NRL....too messy with players just crowding in on the ball. But it does look extremely tough to play. Haha,we both think the same thing... funny in a way :)
also Karmichael hunt should have never let league for AFL he is shockingly bad at it!
I I want Israel Falel to come back from AFL too!

Karmichael Hunt :) haha, how was he at NRL?
He actually kicked a really good goal though, from over 50 meters out :D Pretty sure it made everyone in the AFL world smile :)

I Loved him in NRL one of the better full backs
Me? Ha! Never! Was good to watch. I saw the half time score, decided the game was over and went to watch a DVD. Came back 5 minutes into the last quarter. Was enjoyable to watch.
LOL at the titains and Broncos game!
30- 10 to the broncos and scott prince tried to pass the ball to the touch judge...funniest thing I have ever seen..and people wonder why he doesnt make origin or aus teams lol

Just wanted to mention that Cadel Evans, my favourite Aussie in the Tour de France was impressive today. Of course Andy Schleck of Luxembourg rode the stage of his life, but Cadel did what he had to do to limit the damage. There's one other mountain stage tomorrow (hope he gets through without losing too much time), and then there's the time trial on Saturday which he should win. On Sunday I hope to see him on the Champs Elysées in Paris in the yellow jersey. Go Cadel!
Oh Michael, watch out for next week. That game is bad for Port. Crows will be more determined & enraged now, definitely have to prove it. Fingers crossed we get a full team playing well. It'll be Gray/Hartlett/Boak/Cornes vs Vince/Tippett/Dangerfield/Van Berlo. Pretty much no one else matters.
Expect an outpouring of wooden spoons, either way, Michael. My dads going with clients from his work, but I can't attend this time :(
Absolutely Carmel, Go Cadel! He's got every chance to win the Tour now. What a thrilling stage it was! I was sitting on the edge of my seat during the first climb when Alberto Contador jumped away and Cadel had to let him and Andy Schleck go. But he's a survivor and came back in the long descent of the Galibier. In the end Cadel crossed the finish line just before the Schleck brothers. What a tenacity! This is sports at the highest level. Now we'll have to see what happens in the time trial. Btw, can you watch the Tour live in Australia?
I agree!! Go Cadel!! But yes, the crowd is WAY too close! There's already been bad accidents caused by the crowd...they need to be pushed back further!
I agree 100% about the crowd. It's been like that from since I can remember. They used to put barriers only for the last kilometre. The Belgian television commentators said they should put them from the start of the climb, and I agree. On the way to Alpe d'Huez many people put their mobile homes or tents the night before, party all night, and by the time the riders pass they act silly and dangerously. I think Contador was right when he punched that man running beside him in the face. Luckily there weren't any other mishaps.
Oh boy, what a race! I knew Cadel would finish before Andy Schleck, but I'm so impressed by the way he did it! He has had more bad luck than good luck in his life and he really deserves to win this Tour. Can't wait for tomorrow!
Im not watching any of this...Its okay, Michael & I shall reclaim this thread for the showdown next weekend.

Wow!!! How absolutely amazing!! Good on Cadel! He's awesome!!

He did it!!! Congratulations to Cadel and his team mates, and all the Aussies too! It's more than deserved. I have to admit I do feel a little bit Australian myself now...

That's a shame Carmel...must be cos I put a few photos in the 'chat about anything' thread! At least you'll be able to see it when you get home....

In other news, this mainly being for Michael, Crows coach Neil Craig has stepped down today. This probably means Port'll be thrashed in the coming showdown :( http://www.smh.com.au/afl/afl-news/cr...
...Or make them even more hungry. I just hope Chad plays! It'll be his last Showdown ever, and he could probably match their passion. I hope he is not dropped for Westhoff. Westhoff has to be included, yes. But not at Chad's expense.
Also, Paul Roos' name has been thrown up. I seriously hope he doesnt get the job. That would be a disaster (for us)
Oh Michael, Jess....Yoo hoo!!!! The Crows seem to be winning....;D lol
And what about the Cats score yesterday? OMG how amazing was the result!!! I felt sorry for Melbourne!

It sure is possible....it's such an up and down game isn't it!!!!! But I will sure be keeping everything crossed for the Cats:)

Well, I think its nice that crows fans now know what it feels like to actually win a showdown. It was kind of getting boring, all this winning over the Crows.

I was thrilled by Souths win this weekend against St George...what a come back! I have been a Souths supporter since I was a child to see them win a game like that is great...mind you I don't watch football I just check the scores. I prefer to watch AFL...especially the Sydney Swans.
It's great to have a big win from your team isn't it:)
I agree about the AFL too...definitely better than league;D
*waiting for the comments from the league followers*
