Stella Coulson | 15 comments Listened to a lot of 'The Cure' while writing Whitby After Dark - Volume 1, partially 'Just Like Heaven', also; David Bowie's albums 'Low', 'Hunky Dory, 'Reality','The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and The Spidars from Mars'. A eclectic mix Velvet Underground, The Doors, Beethoven, Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash, Jeff Buckley, Final Fantasy (game soundtracks), Deathwish, Nina Simone and Billie Holiday.

Francis Franklin (francisjamesfranklin) | 542 comments I love the Beethoven sonata in Byzantium, and Man Hunt in Vampire Girl vs Frankenstein Girl. My biggest inspiration though is The Hunger:

Oddly enough, I wrote Suzie & the Monsters while listening to Dire Straits and Columbian dance music.

Music opens up the create parts of a writers's minds. Dire Straits are quite easy to listen to, so imagine that helps relax the mind while writing. I loved 'the Hunger' film and soundtrack as I love Bauhaus' 'Bela Legosi's Dead'. For me Beethoven Moonlight Sonata helped set the mood to dramatic scenes, because it holds such intensity.

Taylor (reachingforwhimsy) | 1 comments Absolutely anything by Bauhaus. Dave Vanian of The Damned also has a very vampy aesthetic.

message 8: by Theresa (new)

Theresa (theresa99) | 69 comments I listen to the soundtracks of Inuyasha and the Legend of Zelda games a lot when I write. There's also a speckling of others mixed in, occasionally Metallica, or the soundtrack of the Phantom of the Opera for example.

Shawn Bright (skbright) | 2 comments +1 for Bauhaus, and a lot of other Peter Murphy music... very moody.
