Series and number vanished !

Sometime in the last few days, all the series names and numbers vanished from all editions of one of my books (NEBADOR #1, but not #2). I noticed it on book lists on various pages, and laboriously put them back. Any idea why this happened, and how it can be avoided in the future?

If you look at the Librarian change log on an edition, you will see what happened. I suspect with the new series function, someone has created a Series link for your works. This means that the series information no longer needs to appear in the title of a book and it is appended by the software

Okay, so why is Cody Miller changing my titles when this is "still under debate" and the new feature obviously doesn't work very well? The series and number did show on the book detail page, but not on many (all?) book lists, as it used to, and certainly should.

Presumably because while some are against changing the title field, others are assuming that with the new series field the information need not be in the title field.

The series field is still being spiffed up, it's true.

Now, if you wanted to message the librarian making the changes, you are of course welcome to do so, and direct them to this thread. But I would suggest doing so gently; some librarians are under the impression that this decision HAS already been made.

Would be hugely redundant to not remove them (IMHO).

Except that, as was already pointed out, in this thread and others, the series info doesn't show up many places (like lists, search results) unless it's in the title -- or unless/until the series field gets expanded to show up those places.

Also doesn't show in the combine page either, unless it's in the title.
