Laurel Lamperd I was pleased to have this nice review from Edith Parzefall www.edith-parzefall.de about my new book, Journey from Walara.

Review by: EdithParzefall on Jan. 08, 2012 :
Riveting and touching story that contrasts the horrors of war with the illusions of young men.
(reviewed the day of purchase)

T'was the month after Christmas and all through the house,
nothing would fit me, not even a blouse.
The stuffing I'd nibbled, the turkey I'd taste,
the yummies I'd eaten had gone straight to my waist.
The wine, the mince pies, the bread and the cheese.....
I should have just said, "no thank you, please."
So as I dressed myself in my husbands old clothes,
I stood on the scales and wailed as they rose!
I said to myself, as only I can,
"you can't spend the year disguised as a man!"
So away with the last of that sour-cream dip,
get rid of the chocolates, every cracker and crisp.
Every last morsel of tasty food must be banished
'til all those additional ounces have vanished.
I won't have a cookie, not even a lick,
instead I'll chew on a long celery stick.
I won't have that danish, or chocolates, or pie
I'll munch on a carrot and quietly cry:
"I'm hungry, I'm lonesome, and life is a bore -
but isn't that what January's for?"
Unable to giggle, no longer a riot,
Happy New Year to all and to all a good diet!

At first I thought this was funny……

Then I realized the awful truth of it.

Tax his land,
Tax his bed,
Tax the table
At which he’s fed.

Tax his work,
Tax his pay,
He works for peanuts
Anyway!

Tax his cow,
Tax his goat,
Tax his pants,
Tax his coat.

Tax his tobacco,
Tax his drink,
Tax him if he
Tries to think..

Tax his car,
Tax his gas,
Find other ways
To tax his ass.

Tax all he has
Then let him know
That you won’t be done
Till he has no dough.

When he screams and hollers;

Then tax him some more,
Tax him till
He’s good and sore.

Then tax his coffin,
Tax his grave,
Tax the sod in
Which he’s laid.

When he’s gone,
Do not relax,
It’s time to apply

The inheritance tax!

Accounts Receivable Tax
Airline surcharge tax
Airline Fuel Tax
Airport Maintenance Tax
Building Permit Tax
Cigarette Tax
Corporate Income Tax
Goods and Services Tax
(GST)
Death Tax
Dog License Tax
Driving Permit Tax
Environmental Tax
(Fee)
Excise Taxes
Federal Income Tax
Fishing License Tax
Petrol Tax (too much per
litre)
Health Tax
Hunting License Tax
InterestTax
Liquor Tax
Luxury Taxes
Marriage License Tax
Medicare Tax
Mortgage Tax
Personal Income Tax
Property Tax
Poverty Tax
Prescription Drug Tax
Real Estate Tax
Vehicle Tax
Retail Sales Tax
Service Charge Tax
School Tax
Vehicle License Registration Tax
Vehicle Sales Tax
Water Tax
Watercraft Registration Tax
Well Permit Tax
Workers Compensation Tax
Queensland Flood Tax
Aged Care Tax
And
Now Julia (ranga) Gillard and Wayne (the Penguin) Swan wants a Carbon Tax !
a tax to breath,
a tax to build,
a tax to grow,
a tax to farm,
a tax to be industrious.

STILL
THINK THIS IS FUNNY?

Not one of these taxes existed 100 years ago, & Australia was one of the most prosperous in the world.. We had absolutely no national debt, had a large middle class, and Mum stayed home to raise the kids.

Neko Hope you both enjoyed your last nights away Jess and Melanie :)

Urrgghh...The house just above us is having work done to it, yesterday it was all day jackhammering and today it's some very high pitched squealing noise which is constant.

Then if it's not them you can here down the road abit another house having a TON of work done to it.

AND then if it's not them it's the mother crow with it's baby crow (they are so loud and constant it's driving everyone mental).

OR if it's neither of the above it's a black bird who teases my youngest cat, the bird loves to fly around the house and look in the windows and if our cat is anywhere close the bird goes off!

So sick of noise polution :|

message 4745: by Neko (new)

Neko Oh yes..I need some I think too. Put on some very loud music bit earlier on but I think my eldest cat got scared when the music let out a loud boom because he quickly ran away from his water bowl like he was scared..lol :s It's sorta close to the music but far enough away as well.

Had a lovely couple of days away at a little B&B called Goldie's Place ( http://www.goldiesplace.com.au/ ) It's extremely relaxing, a tranquil setting up in the Copeland Rainforest next to the Barrington Tops, about 10 minutes from Gloucester. We had breakfast with the king parrots each morning, and met Slippery the python (which I could have done without!) I would highly recommend it for anyone who'd love a relaxing break away.
