I love lists like this, I may not agree with all the choices, but a list like this and 1001 books to read before you die are great to have. When I first started become a obsessive reader I set out to read all the books in the 1001 books before you die list; while I'm not going to read the entire list (I don't think), these lists are just a great way to discover new and different authors that the literary critics think we should know and a great why to try new genres.
Another bonus is the fact that it can help you on you're journey to become a literary elitist (but maybe that's just my goal) :P
PS. I've only read 17 of those books, but I remember enjoying them all, in different ways
I got my subject selection forms for year 11 the other day. Its all getting serious now. So many choices! I'll be sitting down with mum & dad and filling it out tomorrow night.
I think it'll be:
2 semesters of advanced english
2 semesters of math applications
2 semesters of legal studies
2 semesters of IB theatre
1 semester of biology, 1 semester of buisness & enterprise
1 semester of history, 1 semester of psychology.
Ugh, so many choices! So many lessons to choose from :/
That is the long term goal; thats why there is no french on that list, because that makes me stressed. So does regular maths, hence 'maths applications' AKA 'maths for the mathematically challenged persons'. Im also doing the SACE program instead of IB, since IB is marked 70% on exams, 30% assignments, where as SACE is vise-versa.

I hate choices, I'd want to do them all :P
Is it strange Im doing homework at 1:07AM on a Yes. I think it definitely is.
Its a 4,000 word report due on September 5. Planning on having a draft edited later this week. Anyway, back to work.
Aaaaand I should stop commenting in the group now, because I say silly & stupid stuff when Im tired.

Have an awesome time Jess:)
Ah yes; Im back. Its was pretty cool. It was at Belair National Park, which was really nice. Four of us went of 'exploring' for a couple of hours, and we got really far, and at one stage heaps of kangaroos jumped past us. That was probably the highlight of the day

Nope, it was incredibly nice weather. And heaps of fun, especially when it was just the four of us exploring, as opposed to in the crowded clearing we were supposed to be in. But I was wearing really nice skinny jeans and now their all muddy :(

Well, it was raining in the early morning, since there was a lot of mud. It was just nice when I was there :D

Spent the whole day trimming trees & bushes, pulling out overgrown ferns along our rock wall, getting 'spiked' buy bloody date palm needles, ran a huge load to the trip, checked on our baby honey eaters (should be leaving the nest soon) had a shower then a couple of beers while helping cook dinner, now a couple more watching Pirates 'worlds end'

I wish you luck with the Maths. I failed that subject every year, from Reception through to Year 12. And in Yr 12 I signed up for the easiest Maths class there was, only to be called to school in the holidays and told it would be too hard for me lol It got around the school that I'd been kicked out of the Dummies Maths class :D
Big day for you to eh! next time you have to 'not' use a catcher, wear long socks with some cardboard stuffed down the front, sore! yes! the only way to remove the ferns was by hand, finger joints are sore to type (-:

I had a giggle about your 'helper' - it's a shame that the sneakiness didn't pay off! At least she was good enough to try - my father is great at Maths, and when I was at school he would 'help' me with my homework. He figured that, the louder he spoke, the easier I would pick up what he was trying to tell me. I got him back though. Every time he 'helped' me with my Maths, i would spend the week correcting his spelling...you could really feel the love in our house at those times :D
Carmel wrote: "Ha ha Amber, my pleasure!!! Credit where credits due:)Your story cracked me up, you correcting your dad's spelling, that's amusing:) Now my dad was good at all subjects, chemistry, engish, maths ..."
lol Carmel, there are a few in my family who are like your dad - good at every subject. I'm thinking in my case it skipped a generation, which doesn't seem fair - but it gives me something to complain about, which, strangely, keeps me happy lol (and you're still awesome!!)

Hey Jess,
my daughter is doing the same thing at the moment! Let me know if you decide on legal studies - I work on resources for students, so can share a few tips!!

Really Michael, that definitely is odd!!! Shame they all have to come out though...I'm really not sure why we get them in the first place, as about 95% of people have most, if not all of them out! Do you know when you have to have them removed?

Really, really, REALLY cheesed - made enquiries with my publisher to have my book turned into an ebook. They tell me it's going to cost me $499 to do just that. I don't even make that much money in a fortnight :( Unless my book takes off suddenly in paperback, I can't see myself being able to afford to do it anytime in the near future. And apparently I can't do it myself on Smashwords or Lulu as it will be in violation of my contract. Very angry. Very disappointed. Very much resenting rich people... Rant over. For now...

OK Amber, at the top of this little comment box, you will see 'add book/author'..click on that, and type in the name of the book. It will drop down a box of various books, choose the one you want, and click on 'add'. It will then appear in your comment box:) Then just post as normal:)
Cool! Thank you Brenda :) Thank you Carmel :) I appreciate all your help (and promotional assistance!)
Has anyone tried the goodreads iPad app yet? I'm glad it's here but haven't downloaded it yet, since I'm in Spain

It cost nothing and is easy to publish a book as a Kindle and more effort with Smashwords. I don't know about Lulu. But if you have a contract with the publisher you might have to wait until your contract runs out or see if you can pay them out. I feel for you. Laurel

SPAIN! sounds nice lol
SPAIN! sounds nice lol
Thanks Carmel, Brenda.Laurel, I'd prefer to do it myself, but apparently that's not feasible. And my contract runs for another six years... Unfortunately, the publisher pretty much leaves promotion and marketing to me unless/until I manage to sell 1000 copies of my book. Then they start helping. Apparently I have to show that I'm willing to put in the hard yards first. Then they back me up...
And one more whinge!! (Sorry in advance!) I was pulled over by the police today - I need all new tyres. Ugh...
Oh dear Amber:( That's another big expense! But I guess it's better for safety for you and the family:)
@ Brenda - so very, very true. And the police officer was really friendly, very nice. I was lucky, I guess :)@ Carmel - I think you're right!! You and Brenda are both very wise women :D
And Amber and Carmel, I'll reward myself with an almost red...my favourite rose`!!!! Hahaha!!
Amber, so glad the policeman was nice...makes you feel better when he's just trying to help you:)

lol enjoy, Brenda! And yeah, I think the fact that the officer was nice sort of made it a bit easier to hear. He was quite kind when he said I have to get my tyres replaced as these ones appear quite old and dangerous... I sort of sagged with relief and squeaked out a very breathless 'thank you' lol
