Amber (elfkingdom) | 366 comments Hi everyone, I've just started my own blog - it's very boring and basic right now, because it's new and I'm still trying to figure out what I'm doing lol but the address if you want to check it out is: http://amberaveray.blogspot.com/2011/... I apologise for its very amateur appearance, but it's been created by an amateur so in that respect it makes sense lol. Thanks :-)

That's funny, that is exactly how I feel about the book I am reading right now, The Dervish House. Except I don't have a big bowl of mothers home made soup.

Hope you feel better soon Jess.

@Carmel- I find Vegemite helps with a hangover plus a bath (if possible). Got talking about hangovers with workmates a few years ago after a work party and it was so funny to hear ppl agreeing with vegemite!

message 3580: by [deleted user] (new)

not at all lol not on my small small alcohol budget....beers it is lol

message 3581: by Neko (new)

Neko Oh..Then don't buy the beer that will cost you over $150 for a normal side beer but in terms of % it's very, very high!

Beer can start to get very expensive when you look into micro breweries! I bought a 6 pack of Four Pines Stout and it cost close to $30 :s

message 3583: by Brenda, Aussie Authors Queen (new)

Brenda | 80169 comments Mod
Well, that's a start I guess! At least you were seen, and have been given something to help at this stage. I hope they can find something definitive on the 17th...it's a bit of a worry for you:( Take care..

message 3584: by [deleted user] (new)

that is expensive no no just cornonas or harnes or twoeeys for me

message 3585: by Neko (new)

Neko Oh well it's a good start like Brenda says :) And atleast they saw you right away as well which is great. Hopefully that eeg will show something and put your mind at ease.

When I read eeg at first I thought you wrote EGG and I was kinda like, 'How does an egg help you out?' lol XD

-

Did some winter cleaning! Well, I just went through my TBR pile on GR and tidied it up. Cut it down from over 150+ to 144..Not bad..Wish it was smaller..lol

Neko Melanie wrote: "that is expensive no no just cornonas or harnes or twoeeys for me"

XXXX Summer Light Larger is pretty reasonable value between $40 to $47 a carton. And it's so easy to drink which can be a good and bad thing..lol It has a sweet flavour that I enjoy but it's not fruity..eew.

message 3587: by [deleted user] (new)

I have not tried those yet!

message 3588: by Lee (new)

Lee (kiwifirst) After spending 5 years living in the states, I really like American Pale Ales, with a big cascade hop flavor. I used to be able to buy a micro brewery 6 pack for $8. Returning to Aus. I find only Little Creatures is ypthe only one similar to an APA, and it is $18 a 6 pack. So I now make my own, from grain and lots of hops. Have a keg system and have it on tap. I can make 18l for less than $45.
I also have a stout on tap at the moment.

message 3589: by Neko (new)

Neko USA and their beer prices are amazing..Soooo much cheaper when you compare it with our prices. Little Creatures make some nice beers. Making your own beer would be lots of fun I think.

message 3590: by Lee (new)

Lee (kiwifirst) I am really enjoying making it from scratch with just grain. It feels more like a science experiment. I have to say, made properly from grain, it tastes far nicer than almost all commercial beer, which I now find pretty insipid. With some exceptions.

Laura, have you heard of a beer called White Rabbit? It's made in Healesville, Vic. I had my first taste on Sunday, it was quite different, mild but nice.

I left a comment on your blogsite, Amber. All the best with your book. I'll see if I can find it on Amazon and tag it. Laurel

Yeppp!! I certainly have had it. It's a bit expensive for a 6 pack so I only tried it once. There is two styles I believe..Which one did you have?

Yeah, getting to craft your own beer from scratch would be an interesting process and one that you can keep learning from.

I do have plans to make my own one day but I just fear I might end up with it going bad. So I've stuck with making Ginger Beer instead.

So my first of three –

I was invited to join Past Time Books http://www.pasttimesbooks.com/, which is a site for lovers of historical fiction. I was invited to join after some of the members had read my book – unbeknown to me. Past Time Books offer quality historical fiction from their authors (currently 20 authors with 30 books in the market place), check the link to see if there is anything that may be of interest.

my second of three
To celebrate joining Past Time Books, and to encourage potential readers to view the site, I have dropped the price of ‘Ice King’, for a short promotional time, to USD $0.99 for the e-book version via Amazon or Smashwords. As you know, on Smashwords it is available in all major formats.

finally, my third of three
To take advantage of the strength of the Australian dollar to the US dollar I bought a wi fi, 3G, Kindle. It was delivered an hour ago, and is currently ‘on charge’. It weighs around 220 grams so it will be lighter than many books that I carry. With the low cost of e-books I’ll never be short of a ‘Good Read’ please excuse the pun :-o)

You're right, I had forgotten that! It was the dark ale. Son bought a slab, he loves it. His Dad and I tried it on the weekend, and he said then there's 2..dark ale and pale ale? (I think!)
