Lee (kiwifirst) Great work J, glad to see you were happy with your results.

get well Melanie, suck up that orange juice.

message 3253: by Lee (new)

Lee (kiwifirst) So since this is really a place to chat about what you like, I thought I would say, that one of the reasons I joined goodreads was to try and force myself to write book reviews. Well, I also joined to meet all you crazy people and talk about books.
I digress, anyway, reason for this post, is that inhave now done that first review. Must admit found it hard to try and articulate thoughts in a short review, that people would read (although that is presumptious).
So, tried to find a format that I could use each review, would love to hear
your thoughts on the review

Sorry to be pimping my review, but hey, you know what its like with your first.

message 3257: by [deleted user] (new)

I ended up getting the night off purely because my night manager didnt wanna get sick lol
but my bosses excuse was "I come to work pregnant, so you can come sick" didnt realize being pregnant could contaminate food, or was contagious but hey you learn new things every day

message 3258: by [deleted user] (new)

she is a little bit crazy lol. but it is a fun place to work most of the time.
but now that i have 3 days of I'm going to get into the sleeping reading and orange juice to get rid of this cold!
its a pity I cant take any cold and flu tablets or anything my body just does not like drugs at all...so its all fruit and water for me...takes so long to get rid of colds once i get them *sigh*

message 3259: by [deleted user] (new)

it really does...sadly I have given up rum in a poor attempt to be healthy lol but I'm sure a bottle of wine would make me feel better right?

message 3265: by [deleted user] (new)

haha I wish I could drink red wine, but it always reminds me of church so I made it a bit of a no go zone, so not to feel guilty lol

message 3266: by Michael (new)

Michael (knowledgelost) Sinning too much

message 3267: by [deleted user] (new)

LOL

message 3268: by Lee (new)

Lee (kiwifirst) As i put the empty Shiraz bottle in the recycling bin, and wonder if a small finger of Bundaburgs royal coffee chocolate rum would go well with my bowl of french vanilla ice cream, I quickly give a confessional to Carmel, who blithely accepts my Saturday night demons and informs me to read 3 novels as penance.

message 3269: by Michael (last edited Jul 09, 2011 05:16AM) (new)

Michael (knowledgelost) Bless me Carmel for I have sinned (a lot) it's been over 10,000 days since my last confession

Carmel, Its after 10pm so the penance is double. So you'll need to either translate the Lord of the Rings into Latin or Add me as a friend. In this new age, we give choice.

Lee (kiwifirst) Have I set a new level on GR in my efforts to illicit friends?

message 3278: by Lee (new)

Lee (kiwifirst) Carmel, then tonight is the 'right' time to ask those questions as the God of Streets Dairy Milk has allowed me to be loquacious.

using the word loquacious does not infer in any way that I have a good command of the english language. The word was used in the last chapter of the book I recently finished and remained in thought, until I was able to use it impressively

Your reviews are great, Lee. They are bright and don't say too many harsh things 'cause it's strange that what you hate someone else will love. My only thought is the 2 lines, 4 pages - should it be two lines, four pages - 100 pages sounds okay for a review. I haven't taken much notice in reviews but in fiction it's recommended to use words instead of figures, especially one to ten. Just a thought.

Maybe not a bottle, but a glass or two? Sure, go ahead. Especially red wine (shiraz) - it is recommended by cardiologists for heart health.

Maggie Carmel wrote: "ha ha Knowledge that brings back a flood of memories of going to the confessional when I was younger and telling so many lies, shame on me!!! My god when you think of it, it is so archaic, the walk..."

So funny this should come up as a 'discussion' (for want of a better description!).

My daughter and I were discussing religion vs spirituality last night, the power of the church/priests over the people especially in days gone by when the population were illiterate and kept that way by those in power (rich landowners, church, local kings etc). We then moved on to paganism, wicca, goddess lore and so on.

She decided that spirituality had it all over religion (except for the Salvation Army who seem to do a jolly good job of looking after people).

ps not meant to offend, each to their own

Have an awesome holiday in Q'ld Meb, and of course you'll have a wonderful time at HP!! Are you dressing up like Jessica is? Make sure you take some good books with you to Q'ld for some relaxing down time;D

Didn't really get much reading done that night. More perusing the Goodread forums. Probably wise, since Stephen Erikson requires a lot of attention, and unlike the ice cream and shiraz, I was a little short on that.
