Yes, the people over in "Visual Design Changes" thread are revolting! (so to speak)...there is even a thread now calling for Librarians to revolt! The update alert bar on my ipad is going round like a poker machine screen....think I'll come back later when, hopefully, it's all sorted :[
Here the proper thread re New Design Look bugs: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...Have your say!
I've had to resort to using Ctrl + to increase the size so I can read it and I pretty much do not have huge eyesight problems! And I hate having to link the author manually each time. Find it hard as my laptop keyboard has no 'I' key. I can't use the capital i as I did just then.
Agree about the font but they have also changed how you view the books you read this year. The site used to sort them into ratings on a graph. Now the icons appear from highest to lowest but you don't know when it changes from one level to another. I found this out when I was working out my top 5 reads for this year.
I now feel like we've all been made to read 'large font' books... the size of the text in the forums is ridiculous!

It's so busy busy this morning isn't it. I'm kind of enjoying it because I woke at 4am today.
The fonts are bigger now in the threads.
today I'm going to make some sweet things to take along to Christmas gatherings: Date and Almond Fudge, and Licquorice Allsorts Slice.

Wow what a happening since I last looked! Thanks for the link Bette. Good they're fixing the author link part...

Big thunderstorm here, power off to 6000 homes in our area. 65% on my tablet so I will be sparing. Luckily we have a gas stove so I have been able to heat the milk to make a batch of yoghurt, we can boil an old fashioned kettle for tea or coffee, and I can stand in the semi darkness crushing biscuits and chopping dates and licquorice allsorts.
Of course that load of washing in the machine (destined for the line in the garage) has stopped mid cycle.
Power off to all the shops but DH was home so he could open the garage door manually for me. He says he can't write Christmas cards in the dark.
Also a bit dark for reading, and of course no walking on my treadmill....

Oh dear Marianne! We have a storm about to start here too, and it's very dark! Good luck getting your power back on very quickly...

Get a backup battery pack for your tablet etc. at least you can still read then ;)
I am LOVING the new font - It is so easy to read and even doing edits are easier now.I think it is larger - I have problems with small fonts. But a few people are saying it is smaller - isn't that odd.
Still my vote (not that we'd get a say) is keep it

It was small earlier but after many complaints they made it larger. Now some people are saying it is too large:) I don't care for the bluey green colour they have introduced to parts of the text. It doesn't show up really well.

It must be hard - they have to appeal to everyone - those whose sight is not as good and the young trendy mob who think yellow on an orange background is really cool - large font, small font whatever - odds are not everyone is going to be happy :)Also different PCs and Smart doovees that people are looking at the site with makes a difference

Lol, I thought something was wrong with my laptop. It is good to know that the font has actually changed.

You have noticed of course that we now have two fonts - one in the forums and another every where else:)

That would have been the sensible option IMHO!!!

I agree
I think they are just testing many options and the only way to do that is to try it everywhere and get feedback, otherwise how would they know what works. They said in the other forum that they weren't able to do a test run on a small group, so that's why everyone is feeling the same pain...which makes sense as they can get a majority feedback across boards. Now and again they have to change things as technology changes screens and visual appearances, and font styles go out of use or become unavailable.
At the moment I feel like I am at the optometrist reading the eye test chart! And failing, I might add :(
Actually, I like this font but not the italics one.

Thunderstorm here changed our plans for the day too. No loss of power though, thankfully. Went on for hours which is why I have not been near the computer either.
Ok folks I'm testing my photo adding prowess..
Storm cell moving across Sydney. Looking east from my upstairs bedroom.

Great photo Julie.
Excellent photo Jools - hope you don't have/haven't had any of the terrible damage that Sydney has suffered. It's heading our way now apparently!
Not much here Brenda, a lot of noise and some rain as well as some very windy bits, but mostly bluff! ....so far anyway :[ Very ominous looking clouds though and dark!
Brenda wrote: "Excellent photo Jools - hope you don't have/haven't had any of the terrible damage that Sydney has suffered. It's heading our way now apparently!"Our only damage morning from the storm was a huge basket filled with a purple flowering plant that I don't know the name of, came crashing down as the force of the water broke the hanger. Landed upside down a mess. Fortunately it is easily grown. This one came from a little slip from a friend so DH took a couple pieces off the plant ad we'll just grow a new one.
Yay!!!Ok here's some more, taken a couple of hours ago...
These were all taken in succession on my phone :)
I feel like I am in a different Sydney where it is raining a bit and there is thunder but nothing serious. Well not yet anyway

Wow Jools - awesome pics... the thunder is rumbling much louder here and it's very dark...
Hope it stays that way for you Phrynne:)

Now I'm on a roll ;)I was in Hurstville (Sydney) yesterday and thought to photograph this for the group as I often pass it and forget to take a pic. How many people out there thought that Miles Franklin was a man??
This is the plaque below...sorry about the angle, my knees wouldn't let me crouch!
She stands in a paved area off the street.
I knew she was female Jools, but only since challenges;) Great pics! And fancy having her there - I haven't seen it before...
Storm and site re-design trauma! I'll be hiding under the covers of my bed until things change back to normal. :-P

Great pics, Jools, I was too busy fighting with my umbrella and trying to keep my book dry to take any. Looked OK when I left home but soon changed...
Lolololol!!!! I shouldn't laugh buuuut, my DH just came out of the bathroom with a HUGE void of hair around one ear where he scalped himself whilst trimming. He forgot to put the attachment on and had done a sizable crescent shape before realizing!!(((\(@v@)/)))
Hahaha! Oh deaaar Jools! He'll need to go to a hairdresser - just like the little kids who cut their own hair;)
