I know what you mean. You manage to get a real relationship going and then they disappear for another couple of years by which time you have to start all over again. But Skype does help keep you fresh in their minds.

Skype is wonderful in the case of littlies especially. They grow so quickly and when you see them again, they're shy all over again!

Family is important I'll give it that but sometimes it's a blessing when you have little contact with some.

Anyway, my video card killed itself yesterday. Means no real use of my pc until i look into it a bit more..what a pest at an expensive time of the year as well.

Ty Michael! Yeah, they can get very expensive indeed. Mine is actually really old now so it's served me very well..I'd say older than 5 years easily. Now comes the headache of what to put my money into..Considering I do game...Tricky in some respect atm without looking into it at all.

My little ones live only four hours away and I find that tough. We lived six years in NSW and I found that really hard. I couldn't imagine living countries away.

Here's a funny Christmas story about my family. Mum always made her own Christmas puddings and they were wonderful. One year, a gay friend who was joining us for Christmas dinner showed up with one in a can. So, Mum followed the instructions and stuck it in a boiler to heat up. Towards the end of dinner, there was this banging and bumping noise coming from the stove so Mum, our friend and my eldest sister got up to see what was going on. Just then, there was this huge bang, the lid flew off the boiler, the can exploded and most of the pudding went up the chimney. When Mum, our friend and my sister turned back to the table they were absolutely covered with little bits of exploded christmas cake; on the clothes, in their hair, on their faces. It was so funny, we still talk about the 'exploding' christmas cake and I for one are always a bit nervous around them now, lol

Love all the Christmassy Avis!
We're back in Honolulu now, staying in a condo just near Waikiki. Enjoyed our stay in Waikaloa on Big Island very much. The place we stayed was amazing, beautiful grounds and very relaxed. We hired a car for the last two days to see some of the island and drive up one of the volcanoes. You can see several different climates in one day from miles and miles of arid black volcanic rock to grasslands to lush tropical vegetation in the North.
DH has gone off to his conference for the day so I will walk over to the beach later and check it out. Need to start doing some Christmas shopping as well!
