B the BookAddict (bthebookaddict) People keep them as 'pets', lord know why? Can you imagine training that thing to 'sit' or 'heel'?

Thanks! I'm always a little skeptical of their massive sales after a few years ago and the crud that happened along with it. Amazing deals but it was a little too good to be true kind of thing and turned out most of the hot ticketed items got bagged by the staff.

B the BookAddict (bthebookaddict) Have a smallish Dick Smith here with only three staff. The town is already filling up with holiday makers. I can imagine the crush in Dick Smith so am not going.

B the BookAddict (bthebookaddict) Back from two hours of supposed Christmas shopping in which time I bought myself a new pair of shoes, two new shirts, some make-up and my favourite Lang calendar for next year. I've come home because it started to get busy and I hate crowds, especially holiday ones who just seem to dawdle. Will attempt the Christmas shopping tomorrow:)

A bit of both Marianne, DH couldn't sleep and fidgeted with his ipad until I was fully awakened at 2am...then he fell asleep and has been knocking out capital Zzzzz's ever since! So I made myself a cuppa and moved to my library :)

message 24231: by Tui (new)

Tui Allen (tuibird) | 143 comments Going crazy with wild turkeys here again. They leave horrible messes everywhere on the lawns and decks. So easy to kill them. They sit on the back fence overnight and go into a stupor. I could just walk up and grab them and somehow do the evil deed, but as an animal lover I just could not do that.

Being Christmas, you'd think someone would want to eat them. (Not me - I'm vege) but I think you don't eat the ones who were killed when there's an 'r' in the month, because they taste funny, or so I'm told. Took a photo of one of ours trying to eat the moon, while sitting on my back fence at night.

B the BookAddict (bthebookaddict) I've whizzed thru the shops like a dervish this morning. Have three sets of my sibling's offspring to buy for; one big set, one middle size set and one little one, kinda like my own family of three little bears! Just walked in laden with toys, books and clothes. Back tomorrow for vouchers for the big set. Then I am done!

My hand is almost automatically holding out my savings account card, lol!

message 24235: by B the BookAddict (new)

B the BookAddict (bthebookaddict) Hoping we don't get that here tomorrow, Michael. Make sure you stay well hydrated and cool.

message 24237: by B the BookAddict (new)

B the BookAddict (bthebookaddict) Hi, Ace:) 8am during December for Christmas shopping but I was nearly the lone shopper there this morning!

Jülie ☼♄  (jlie) | 6581 comments Wow, lots of EB's today...must be nearly Christmas! Or all trying to maximise their reading time for the readathon eh??? ;)

@ Brenda, nice and relaxing in my library and went back to bed for a couple of hours later on.

@Tui, we have a similar rule where you don't do certain things on days that end with a 'y'. Funny turkey trying to eat the moon, maybe he thought it was cheese ;)

@ Suz, I've had house guests for four days and couldn't get anything of my 'planned jobs' done, so not much rest time today...lots to do before the Christmas crowd arrive in the days before :/

And yesterday my outdoor fishpond sprung a big leak! I came out to find them all doing breast stroke in six inches of water! Poor little things, lucky I was home. No casualties thank goodness, and DH has been performing emergency repairs...so far so good...fingers crossed :[

message 24239: by Leonie (new)

Leonie (leonierogers) | 3569 comments Morning all! The only good side to spending the weekend with a bug is having to lie down and read. Hopefully my contribution to this weekend's readathon will be a good one :)

And your poor little fishes, Julie!

Wow look at all these posts while I finished my book for the readathon!

Jools glad you managed some rest and good luck with the breast stroking fish ;)

Bette wonderful you could go so early..best time..in and out quickly!

Stay cool Michael..glad we don't live in Adelaide ATM!

Have a great day everyone :)

message 24241: by B the BookAddict (new)

B the BookAddict (bthebookaddict) Yep, me too. I'm going to put clean bed linen on the bed and then devote myself to reading:)

message 24242: by Ace (new)

Ace (aceonroam) Ohh I put on fresh sheets and the 'big' doona on last night and read till midnight, it was so cosy. Might have the heater on tonight for the first time. The water in the tap is cold too. After months of humidity I forget how cold it can actually get here!

Back to the readathon for me...and the doona :) Happy Sunday all.

Neko Braved the wild terrains this morning (aka a shopping complex)..I walked around in a sleepy daze..lol..So busy!! Left as quick as possible. I've gotten all my xmas shopping now done EXCEPT for one more thing! That might mean a trip into town..noooo :(

message 24247: by B the BookAddict (new)

B the BookAddict (bthebookaddict) @Julie Glad you didn't have to give your fishies 'mouth to mouth;.

My neighbours have a puppy, it's a Groodle, cross between a Golden Retriever and a Poodle. A gorgeous happy little thing but already an 'only outside' dog, so it whines from about 6am onwards waiting for the owners to get up:( I'm not fussed on these 'pedigreed cross-breeds' - that's how puppy farms come about.

Carolyn | 9865 comments You've had a very stressful weekend between the inconsiderate party givers and the fishpond leak. Glad to hear the gushes are doing Ok. Hope the leak is fixed and you caught up on your beauty sleep.

I've had a nasty virus over the weekend. Was too sick to make it in for my last day at work before holidays on Friday and spent the weekend doing very little. Missed my work group's Christmas lunch and Christmas drinks after work and had to cancel weekend outings. Rest of the family have either had or or are going down with it now so it hasn't berm much fun at our place this week!

Oh Carolyn, that's no good! You poor thing...when do you leave for holidays? I hope you have a few days to recover before you leave. And missing all those fab Christmas things...too sad:( I hope you're on the mend now...

message 24250: by Carolyn (new)

Carolyn | 9865 comments Thanks Brenda, feeling much better today. We leave on Wednesday so I still have a couple of days to recover and shouldn't be infectious to the other passengers at that stage. I haven't been sick all year so it's really unfortunate to catch a virus now when I have such a long list if things to do!
