Jülie ☼♄  (jlie) | 6581 comments Not long home from a lovely day in the city with my sister where we met Judy Nunn at her book signing in Dymocks.

I had a lovely chat with her about her new book Spirits of the Ghan and also discussed, at some length, her short story The House on Hill Street which I just read last week.
I made comments about it on my review of same at: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

It was lovely talking to her :)

Liam || Books 'n Beards (madbird) This is one of the only times in history I've been able to brag at Sydneysiders about how cool it is in Adelaide.

It's fantastic.

And here everyone is rugged up in winter gear...We've had the heater on at home..lol It's crazy to think how different it is. I even switched on the car heater this morning instead of winding down the window like I usually do.

I was watching a thing on climate change on ABC news but had to turn it off as the thought of a summer getting any hotter than we have usually, is a scary thought for me.

message 24086: by [deleted user] (new)

As you guys talk about how hot it is in Australia; it is currently - 4 in my neck of the woods.

B the BookAddict (bthebookaddict) Brrr, that's chilly, Melissa. At the moment, it's 9C here on south-west coast Victoria heading for a top of 16C. But two days ago, we had 30C; so true of Spring weather to ping-pong up and down the scale. Although, where I am, it's usually about 2 degrees cooler than Melbourne temps. Plus, I'm on the water so I get a lovely sea breeze.

5.30am this morning - 19 here; 5 Melbourne; 3 Canberra; 9 Adelaide - didn't look any further! lol

To be fair, in Vancouver we get rainy Christmases generally lol.

Tia | 27 comments Rainy? Oh, my delusions of white Canadian Christmases have been dashed! Is there at least some snow involved?

Tia wrote: "Rainy? Oh, my delusions of white Canadian Christmases have been dashed! Is there at least some snow involved?"

It depends what part of Canada. Vancouver tends to be a milder climate; we get one or two dumps of snow and tons of rain. However, cities like Calgary and Winnipeg are covered in snow by snow; as are the three Territories.

I grew up in England and it was very rare to have snow at Christmas. Mostly it falls in January or February.
