Agree, Ace. I love the smell of that downy hair on their heads:)
Happy birthday, Suzanne! Looks like you had a great party over the weekend! And congratulations on your impending grandparenthood (again), Brenda. I bet your daughter and partner are excited. Now to go out and buy some things for baby!
Suzanne wrote: "A couple of pics from the weekend, I never do parties so it was great. Felt spoilt and happy! How do I miss all this stuff??? Happy belated 40th Birthday Suzanne. Looks like you had a great time. Congrats on this very special milestone. Here's to a great decade ahead.

Happy days!!!"That's wonderful news Brenda. How exciting. And May next year...maybe like you say you might get to share a birthday!!! Is this the daughter in Melbourne? Sorry if I should know that....I forget.
Thanks! No, our daughter here in Newcastle Elaine. It's their first - the Melbourne daughter has 2 boys already:)
Brenda wrote: "Thanks! No, our daughter here in Newcastle Elaine. It's their first - the Melbourne daughter has 2 boys already:)"That's great Brenda....and yes I think I recall now. At least you won't have to travel too far for this one....although we would love you to come back to Melbourne of course!!! :)
I usually find I've only read one or two of the books in one or two categories so my voting is extremely limited!
Just home from an author event with Barry Maitland on the release of the second in the Harry Belltree trilogy, Ash Island: The Belltree Trilogy, Book Two. Book one is Crucifixion Creek which was released Sept 2014 and the final is to be released Sept 2016. I asked him if he has a title yet and he said his working title is Slaughter Park! I said "I like it"!!! He has had varying responses to that he says:) He's a lovely guy, very humble. I met his wife as well...

Haha!!!
Haha!!!
Okay for a laugh I'll share my day - I locked myself out of home, and tried to let myself in through the bathroom window, which turned out to be too small for my ample bosom, and I twisted myself to the point of falling out the window, and hanging from my knee, then my ankle. I'm on the second floor, and was seriously scared at some point, but I can see the funny side now, and I'll laugh now as I imagine I'll be quite saw tomorrow. Long story short, I ended up hurting my knee, and was still locked outside, but I keep smiling at the image of me hanging from the bathroom window, upside down.Hope your day went better than mine, as that was just the beginning.
@Michael, I read that post today as I've just read Spider Bones which covers the same Chimera aspect. Find it freaky that you could be the parent yet fail the test.

It's certainly freaky Michael!

Mikana wrote: "Okay for a laugh I'll share my day - I locked myself out of home, and tried to let myself in through the bathroom window, which turned out to be too small for my ample bosom, and I twisted myself t..."Oh Mikana, you did make me laugh, sorry:) It was the 'hanging from your knee' part that really got me laughing. I honestly thought that type of thing happened only to me. I hope you're not in much pain today.

Michael, I'd never hear of that before, a little gobsmacked here:)
I did know, only by tiny degrees, of a family where the woman married a man, had six kids, divorced him, married his eldest son from a previous relationship and had five kids to him. That lead to all sorts of strange familial relations like nephews who were older than their uncles, brother and sister who were cousin. A bit too inbred for my liking and I stayed well away.
RitaSkeeter wrote: "It must be nearly time for the GR Choice Awards again isn't it? I remember the first round starting around the time of the November long w/e last year, and that's this weekend coming."I do like voting - but always think it is strange that the year hasn't ended in November and there are still 8 weeks of potentially terrific reads to come that will miss out
It's probably done in Nov to increase book sales for Christmas. I agree with Sally, it seems wrong to vote for the best book of the year before the year is over!

Thanks Kathryn! Back to the real world for me ;)

Ah ha Elaine.. I miss stuff all the time too.. Many thanks for your lovely wishes xxx
Oh Rita, that sounds like something I'ld do, and have done once but in a larger patio that was 3m x 1.5m so at least I had a little room, and for some reason, my book - but I was stuck out there for 4 hours. I'm sore and battered and a little ashamed that I even thought I could fit through the window in the first place. I ended up getting a young fit neighbour to go through the window for me - and then went and got a spare key cut so this won't happen again.
Mikana wrote: "Okay for a laugh I'll share my day - I locked myself out of home, and tried to let myself in through the bathroom window, which turned out to be too small for my ample bosom, and I twisted myself t..."Oh no Mikana, I'd do something like that, if that makes you feel any better..! You won't forget your keys in a hurry again ;))
Just back from a Dymock's lunch where the speaker was Mark Tedeschi. He talked about his new book Kidnapped. It sounded very interesting even to me (and I don't like true crime).
He's coming here to Newcastle shortly Phrynne...I wasn't going to go as I haven't heard of him before.

I'll be there, as will Jools and Phrynne Andrea:) The full list is in the thread - there'll be 10 of us!!! Did you check the lists of books by everyone to see if you'd like something? And it doesn't matter if you don't have anything to bring...

Yes Marianne already found big little lies for me, she really is the book whisperer :-) I am bringing 8 signed copies with me, was hoping for 10, I'm embarrassed to say, but hopefully two people will supply me with their details so I can post them when I get back to Melbourne. I've ordered more stock but they won't get here until after I leave :-(
Plus that way I can bring GC book 2, and extra copies of book 1 to the next swap meet :-) Sounds like fun
