Sally906 | 89 comments Never been there - but have always wanted to ever since I read a story about a boy who saved Holland by putting his hand in a leaking hole in a dyke. The book I read had the young lad with baggy trousers and big wooden clogs - I fell in love :)

Got thwarted in 2013 when the floods hit Europe and our holiday cancelled - so hoping my dreams come through this time around :)

message 23002: by Neko (new)

Neko Welcome back Marianne! :) Well, put it this way you had a great holiday and i think that's the main part! With the weather getting warmer you can set out for walks to get rid of that weight with determination :)

Try and sell it Laura and then you can buy a new one.

message 23005: by Neko (new)

Neko Ah, no this laptop is brand new...It's my PC that needs an upgrade (which can still wait). Might have to look into the warranty n see if there is anything.

message 23006: by Neko (new)

Neko oh i left off while the keyboard is dead the tablet part still functions without issue. So I'm currently just using it like that. A replacement of the keyboard i saw for $300ish but that's if i was looking at the correct model.

message 23007: by Veronica ⭐️ (new)

Veronica ⭐️ | 2387 comments Today I was wearing a nice new pair of long pants. The summery black and white ones you see everywhere. They are very comfortable and I was out and about all day. I just said to my daughter I like these pants but they don't have any pockets. She looked at me and said " that's because they are pyjamas mum". I was mortified, I think I need someone to dress me in the mornings. :/

That's good then. You can still use it and you only need to buy half a laptop. :)

Hahaha!!! Sorry Veronica! I see so many young girls out and about (and sometimes not so young) and can't believe it when I see they are in pyjama bottoms!!!

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9987 comments Went to the Magda Szubanski Literary Lunch at the Wentworth today, despite my jetlag, I didn't fall asleep (although I almost did during the questions, and certainly did a few times in the train on the way home: luckily my companions would not have let me sleep through my station!)
It was very good.
Here she is chatting with the lady from The Guardian

Neko Veronica - Lol!! But when you bought them wouldn't they have been in the PJ area?

I dunno the pants you're talking about though..However it makes me wonder what i saw yesterday were PJ pants due to what you described...lol

message 23012: by Marianne (new)

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9987 comments It's always a thrill to have an author like your review, but when they like your review and you have only marked their book "to read", haven't read the book or rated it, it's really quite meaningless, isn't it!

I quite often see authors liking a string of reviews of their book and none of the reviews actually have any ratings or text to them. What's the point of that?

Happened to me today.....

I agree, it's totally pointless! But I guess they're saying they like that you are going to read it!!!

message 23014: by Marianne (new)

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9987 comments I wondered if it was to generate internet activity, ie mentions of their book.....

I was really chuffed to get an email from an Aussie author asking me to review her new book because she liked the quality and depth of my reviews of her previous books.

Next on my TBR, but I still need to add it to GR.

Lolol..Roflmao Veronica!! You've made my day! :D It reminds me of a time years ago when I went in to work, and while I was walking through the carpark I thought "gee I feel particularly comfortable today" and skipped into work not realizing until it was pointed out to me that..I still had my slippers on! I worked the full shift like that before I fessed up to the boss...we were required to wear safety shoes on the job! No wonder I felf comfy...those safety shoes were a dreaded horror to wear. ;)

They probably were Laura but they were hanging in my wardrobe with the tag still on. I then went back to look at the tag I'd pulled off and sure enough it said pyjamas.

Lol Julie glad I'm not the only one.

B the BookAddict (bthebookaddict) Moses (dog) and I got charged at the park yesterday by a big, unleashed dog who was not looking like he wanted to be friends. Poor Mo nearly wet himself and I wasn't far behind! The owner was chatting to a group of people and not watching what her dog was doing. Was quite scary; we might avoid the park for a couple of weeks.

Thanks Carolyn, should have loads of photo's....DH just cleared the camera memory of all of my last holiday pics of aerial shots of various cloud formations through the plane window over various international time zones....lol, there were rather a lot of them hehee :) as he pointed out, it's hard to tell the difference between international clouds and local ones! That happened to me when I took my then two year old to the park. He was still strapped in his stroller when a big German Shepard charged straight at him. I scared it off with a lot of screaming and arm waving and we high-tailed it out of the park. Took my son about 10y to get over phobia of big dogs.Very scary Bette, I know how you feel, images of your pup being attacked flashing before your eyes!
