An ongoing tragedy which will continue until the morons over there realize getting rid of the guns is the beginning of making it better!

I was saddened to hear of another college shooting; so tragic for the innocent victims and their parents. However, I can't help feeling they will continue while gun ownership is so easy in the US. Obama has an unwinnable battle with the gun lobby.

It is sad, there is a show here called border security. It is shocking how many Americans that are genuinely shocked to discover that we do not share their love of the weapon. Therefore getting denied access to the country. Sometimes, I would rather be neighbours with Australia (which is an awful thing to say as my mom is american .. sorry mom)

I hear it more and more every time he gives the speech; Obama is exasperated with the situation. Their hands are tied.

We have Border Security here too Melissa...it's a good show (though probably different to yours) it's good to know the Canadians don't follow the US's stance on guns! I feel sorry for Obama as he's as frustrated as the rest of us...

Yes, we watch the Australian version too. Some of the travelers just make me want to say, "really? you thought that was a good idea?"

Sorry this is a bit late Bette, but did you take an antihistamine? It might help relieve the hives...you must have a plant that you are allergic to, or something bit you without you realising?

message 22864: by Carolyn (last edited Oct 02, 2015 01:03AM) (new)

Carolyn | 9868 comments If it gets really itchy at night Bette you can also get a calamine with lignocaine to dull the itch and help you get some sleep. Magic stuff! Hope it clears up soon.

Ended up at Emergency Doctor yesterday as my temp went up and up. They did a blood test, suspect Measles which I was immunised against as a child but some cases still do occur apparently. Feeling really lousy, covered in red spots, itchy like the devil, headache, sore eyes. Will know results Monday. I hope they're wrong.

Carolyn | 9868 comments Oh dear Bette. That does sound more like a virus than hives. Hope it's not measles and doesn't last too long. Make sure you get lots of rest, fluids and sympathy while you wait for the results.

Vivian Waring (vivianwaring) | 77 comments My footy team isn't in the Grand Final today, but still enjoy the atmosphere of it all. The backyard barbie's all fired up, and for those who want a more traditional feel, meat pies, hot dogs, tomato sauce all on hand to be washed down with a can or two of VB. And Melbourne has turned on perfect weather for our interstate guests.

And the sad part is that it appears it'll be a complete whitewash! I hate it when that happens, especially in the situation with heaps of people travelling from the West:(

Not normally celebrated however, I work with two American/Canadian people and they always celebrate and in someway include their workmates it is really cool.
