Ours is sunny at the moment but since family is coming down, it is sure to rain. We're thinking we should hire them out in drought areas. LOL

Usually start earlier but it's been too wet and cold. Always nice when it's done!
I have to tell Phrynne that I saw an ad for a new Mitford book released this week, Come Rain or Come Shine by Jan Karon.I've only read the first in the series but am already a fan and glad to hear there are new books still coming out.

Trying to fit it all in between the showers:) We are "babysitting" their little old dog:) And we've just had our grandson staying for two days/nights. It was great...we had a lovely game of scrabble yesterday:) He didn't want to go home to his noisy sisters;)

Glad I made you laugh Laura. Shame, but at least it helps Brenda's daughter if it stays fine today.
Brenda we must of posted at the same time..I wondered what Dale was going on about. Yes, i hope the weather stays grand for you guys..most important time for clear skys!!
Just need to share that I did a spin class this morning (my daughter Personal Trainer took the class) ouch my tail is sore. Feel free to laugh because I am or else I may cry.
Yes, still "alright" so hopefully they have almost got the main bulk done now. Her partner started work at 4pm but they have tomorrow and a little while longer to clear out the old place:)
When we were in Stratford-upon-Avon, I saw a shop that I recognised from a book I read (didn't realise it was a real shop until then), so I included a piccy in my review....https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Looks good Michael. My hubby makes our calendar each year - through some online place. Picking 12 pictures from the current year - and then sometimes favourite pictures from previous years. He uploads the pictures - arranges them into the months - adds family birthdays and then organises it to be printed. Is my Christmas present every year.

There is a massive case in Cereal Alberta, Canada (yes that is an actual place) where a mother and daughter are being charged with neglect and cruelty to their 11 horses, 25 dogs and 17 birds

People are awful; a few months back outside of Vancouver there was a husky found wandering and starving. When he got to the vet they found rocks and gravel in his stomach because that is what it was eating to keep itself alive.
Fortunately he was rehabilitated and is now with a proper family. poor thing :(

I couldn't ever work at a shelter; I would want to bring all the animals home and love them.

Thank goodness the husky is having a better life now Melissa. And I agree with you - I couldn't either!
In cuter animal news. This dog in Italy reminds me of my pups whenever the know that they did something wrong https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0YOCt...
I use to assist the animal welfare officer here in Darwin - is heartbreaking all the cases. Only the big ones make it to the papers - but it is overwhelming work. Use to be one officer - then she got an assistant - now there are 4 of them being run off their feet.

That is awful Brenda. That poor dog must have been starving for weeks to get into that state.

It keeps giving me childrens picture books!

Is it the child in us that makes us run our hand along a row of things? Like a railing fence, or in this case the top of a drystone wall. Only once I'd done it did I realise there was a xylophone effect because some stones are different heights & thicknesses to others.
And when I did it on the way past a second time, the guy behind me said he does it every time he goes past. Looking at the stone carefully, I could see he's not the only one!
Brenda, there goes the mood for my day:( I say starve this guy for the length of his prison sentence. I worked part-time at RSPCA for a long time when I was much younger. I always say "the things the public see is nothing to what the inspectors and animal ambulance drivers see". I brought home a spaniel, rescued from a cat cage, he had meat skewers in his abdomen. Was due for the 'big sleep' till I saw him. Another was our first boxer, 12kg, less than half normal weight. She was as ditzy as the day is long but had a great life with us.
The Pyramid Hill puppy farm owners who plead guilty to 240 charges of animal abuse was sentenced on 24/9/15 to $200,000 fine and banned from owning dogs for the next ten years. link: https://www.facebook.com/AnimalsAustr...
@Marianne I think it's the child. I remember doing it as a kid and still do it on the many sandstone walls we have around our town.
This makes me so angry, I have saved a few dogs including my current dog, who was in very bad condition and traumatised by her previous owner. She is now so happy and healthy (and currently sitting next to me waiting for her walk), the thing that gets me is you have a choice weather to own a dog or not so why go to the trouble if you are not committed to it life you don't have to own a dog so why have a dog and or any animal and not look after it.

Honestly, if a person can look into the loving and accepting eyes of a dog/pet; while being okay with abusing and neglecting the animal. I am not sure that I would be ok with them in society; because there is obviously a screw loose somewhere.
