Congrats Laura, enjoy the work, schools are good to work at until they pull the pin on a program. That is what has happened to me...but there is always something else around the corner...can't say much yet but think another door is about to open.
Thanks guys!@Faye - Thanks! Yep, pulling the pin on a job is always annoying..Happened to me this year as well though I was never perm to start with so I had no safety net. Still don't. But I'll take work when I can get it too :)
I hope that things will turn out well for you too!
Today in Warwickshire it is raining, raining, raining. This is why England is so green. Luckily, we don't have to go out there for anything.

This has now been corrected and the books separated but some of the Down Under reviews are still on Private Sydney.

Really?? That's bad! It's obvious they're not the same - different co-authors!

Lol!
We don't need any rain here...It's been off and on these past few days. Though, I love hearing it while going to sleep at night.

But I thought that's what the latest vaccine was, up to date protection against both strands of flu? I was told to wait till July for that reason. :(
But I thought that's what the latest vaccine was, up to date protection against both strands of flu? I was told to wait till July for that reason. :(Well, Bette, DH and I had the vaccine, but back in May or June, so don't know what that says.
Kristen wrote: "Hope u feel beta soon Dale!!!!! The flu is the worst...eat lots of chicken soup :)"Thanks Kristen but I'll pass on the chicken soup.
There are many different strains of the "flu" and sometimes it is a different virus altogether causing the symptoms. Need mouth and throat swabs to see if it is really the flu you have been immunized against. Husband currently sick and we are going through the same thing but swabs show it wasn't the "flu" he was vaccinated against that are causing him to be so sick.

The shot that I got in March was the very latest vaccine to cover all strains - I understand you can still get flu but the symptoms aren't as bad. Seeing what some of my friends are going through I would hate to see what it would be like without vaccination! I do understand that it can mutate and change so what is affecting you is not what you are actually vaccinated against sometimes.
We are going to Europe at the end of March - the next lot of flu vaccinations are due out in march - hoping I'll have a chance to get my latest shot before we go.

We were told ours was too and that was why we had to wait and couldn't get it in March/April as usual. All I can say is imagine how much worse it would have been without.
I saw a report in the paper saying the strain of flu we have in Sydney at the moment wasn't in the vaccine (they can only guess which strains are going to hit us) but that the immune response to a related strain in the vaccine would help to reduce the severity. So those who had the vaccine are at least getting some protection.Sorry to hear you've been so sick Dale but good to hear you're on the mend :)
I've never gotten the flu shot because most people I've know always end up with something horrible after they've gotten the shot. I usually take herbals daily and rarely catch a thing. I just wish I could stop hay fever and I'd be much happier person..lol
Had the flu shot since 1992 when after 4 weeks I was still walking down the hall supporting myself. Since then only have the symptoms for only a few days before bouncing back. But last year managed to get influenza A and pneumonia even though I had flu shot. I was sick but still managed to do clay target shooting of over 300 targets before succumbing and going to the doctor. Only a week off work and back to self after the pneumonia was treated. Would hate to see what I would have been like without the flu shot.I eat a good diet and try the home remedies as well but working with little people you are exposed to many different bugs.
noelene - certainly true about kids..working in early childhood (kinder to gr1) and so many colds floating around...or just green noses! lol
I work with 3 to 5 year olds and they are all sick with something! Green noses doesn't begin to describe it:)

This is the first time we have still got sick since having the shots.

I distinctly remember being 6 years old and sitting next to a girl in school who seemed to have a permanently crusty green nose (oh tmi!), and I used to practically slide under the desk whenever she sneezed!! True story...oh the memory is still too vivid!! :O
Hahaha lols!!! Sounds like it made quite an impact on ur life hehe
Kristen wrote: "Hahaha lols!!! Sounds like it made quite an impact on ur life hehe"Lol...I won't tell you how many years ago that was but yeah...I guess it has! Huh, little did I know that I would never be the same!

Haha I'm soo glad u followed with that!!! Haha that could have gotten awkward lols...
Oh no green noses are very little in the rhelms of kids..but it sparked a reccent memory...kid i worked with forever had a snotty fessed nose....we were using some teddy bears...i told the kid to go grab a tissue but before he did he wiped the snot with the tip of his fingers then grabbed a teddy and jokingly tossed the teddy towards me...my reaction was to catch the bear then i suddenly realized my hand was covered in snot...lol Yay for hand sanitizer!
I started getting flu shot three years ago after having a flu which laid me low for six weeks. I've only had one minor cold since then.

You want a really bad one. What about a cashier sneezes into their hand, then hands you your change?
Can I make a shout out to anyone who is going to be reading this weekend (Fri, Saturday, Sunday) and who hasn't registered for the read-a-thon to please go to the thread (in the challenge folder) and do so? We need many more numbers :)
Thank you! x
Thank you! x
Too many (green) mental images after catching up on this thread!Hope you're all feeling better soon, people! I have a vague memory of reading somewhere that if if you're travelling to the northern hemisphere this (our) summer, that it's possibly worth getting the flu shot again, as they're expecting another nasty variety. Maybe chat to your GP.
I've had influenza twice - it's a flu shot every year for me. I never want to be that sick again!

Good morning!!
Lol...we might try and raise the calibre of conversation today eh!
Raising the calibre eh?Hmmm.
Seems to me that when we all get in one of our silly moods that's like spitting into the wind - just keeps coming back!!!
