Those things travel around so quickly.
I believe the vomiting bug is wandering around our town. We've had quite a lot of cancellations at our physio practice as a result. (We always appreciate people who don't bring tummy bugs into see us.)Hope the kids are feeling better soon, Suzanne.

Yesterday morning, we got down to a chilly 0C and had a heavy frost - most unusual to have frost this close to the ocean. This morning, BOM says it's 5C here and feels like 1.6C, brrrr!

Thinking of you too Brenda after the death of little budge. Pets do become such a part of the family.

Thanks Dale:) We buried him yesterday and I've been rearranging the furniture this morning so the gap where he was isn't so noticeable! But it'll take us awhile to stop doing the little things that have been done with him for a lot of years!

First day of normal for a while. Things are good now, thanks all! New routine in a way for you Brenda. Pets do become family, like the others mentioned. Hope everyone else is doing pretty well at the moment :)

That's great Suzanne! You would be breathing a huge sigh of relief!

One fun thing I've just started with a girlfriend is our own little book club. She lives on the Central coast so we'll text each other. She first suggested Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail, which I had, then she borrowed a book from her library, which again I had on my shelf. Lola's Secret. I've never been in a book club, nor participated in a buddy read so I'm looking forward to it! And if I get too far ahead, I've got lots of nf books to read in between.

I also would feel stressed if I did not read a book in time.
One of my librarians gave me a phone number for a local book club but I didn't follow through for those reasons.. Often I don't have a lot of reading time, then that time will be wasted reading something I don't want to read! We have similar tastes and available reading time so it should be good.

Just doing last minute packing and so on to be ready to leave for our next holiday tomorrow morning:) We've got a week in Surfers Paradise, a week in Coff's Harbour and a final week in Port Macquarie! Can't wait:) But it goes without saying that'll I'll still be present on here - just not so much;)
Brenda wrote: "Just doing last minute packing and so on to be ready to leave for our next holiday tomorrow morning:) We've got a week in Surfers Paradise, a week in Coff's Harbour and a final week in Port Macquar..."Have a great time Brenda.
Ashleigh wrote: "Me too, Faye. I once tried to set one up with friends in the proviso we all agreed on what we read. It failed because one person vetoed nearly every option"There is a book group here in Darwin - that is not taking on new people - that pick a subject each month. So the theme/subject might be say WWII. So all the members go away and read a book that is connected to WWII - be it non-fiction, romance, mystery whatever. Then at their next meeting they discuss how their books meet the criteria. I would love to join that rather than be forced to read a particular book

Happy holidays Brenda!! Have you got something to read? ;pYou take care, enjoy yourselves, oh...and stay away from dogs!! ;)

Although I think the weeks in Coffs and Port Macquarie will be nicer (although possibly a little colder!) than Surfers - they'll probably be quieter, anyway!
Drive safely!

great format Sally! Are you in the group? Must be popular if they're saying no to Newcomers.
Brenda wrote: "Alex Hammond just "liked" my review of The Unbroken Line :D"I love hearing stores like this. Good job :) AND happy holidays Brenda, tell us your funny stories along the way. I'd forgotten about your adventures, but I guess it's been a while. Any AR meetings? Enjoy!
Suzanne wrote: "How many books altogether do you think you'll read/take? Do you take any hard copy?"
Only one hard copy (an ARC from Text) and my kindle Suzanne. I have organised 18 kindle ones as well...we will see!

Actually there are 5 more that I'd forgotten...challenge books! So it'd be a fair assumption that I won't get them all read!

I joined one at my local library and whilst I have not enjoyed all the books chosen, I've also read some gems I may not have touched otherwise. I really enjoy the round table discussion; sometimes everyone dislikes a book (and most don't finish it) at other times we all love the book for different reasons, or there is a split between "Loved it" and "Oh, dear". To each their own.

My stumbling block is a toddler that I can't even take to story time at the library, so I don't get a chance to participate in a group setting. But I'd like to when he's at school. But but then I will be back at work. One day, who knows!

I reckon they can go in the free kindle thread.
They're an alternative medium of book and they're free!
I've updated the thread title to include audio :)

Good that you are safely tucked in for the night now...safe and happy travelling for tomorrow :)
My sister in law use to live in Grafton. Had a dairy farm there. Best thing about driving on wet days is arriving at the hotel and snuggling in for the night.
Yes we most certainly are:) I can't wait to get back to my book...having withdrawals!!!
Lots of dairy farms around here Sally...heaps of cattle in the paddocks on the way:)
