I'm recording it but won't watch it tonight. Will leave it to watch on my days off. Enjoy Kathryn and Rita.

Meeeeee! I'm all set up with a hot chocolate and a blankie ready to go!"
That sounds cosy. Might join you with that hot chocolate.

Yup, watching it now Kathryn!

Tui, I love that picture!

Makes sense now Carolyn! What a good idea...,

Nice photo Tui. Your Mum looks like she's enjoying herself!

Probably a good idea Jools and Elaine. I thought the first episode was a bit slow to get going but there should be plenty happening in the second half.

I enjoyed it, but was expecting more interaction with the Aboriginal people, based on what I remember from the book (which I did read over a year ago, so might have forgotten details), but it looks like that side of it gets going next week.
I thought it portrayed very well the strangeness of the environment that was Australia at that time - both in the penal colony and when the Thornhills moved to the Hawkesbury. It also showed well the fear and misunderstanding between the white settlers and the Aboriginal people in the few interactions that there were.
And for those who missed it and forgot to record it, I see it's being replayed Saturday at 9.05pm.

I think it needs to be remembered that the Thornhills thought the land was void of other human inhabitants.

The scenery was gorgeous, made the Hawkesbury look pristine. When I said the first half was slow, I meant it was setting up the scene for what is to come. Showing the isolation and beauty of the setting with just a hint that the Thornhills were upsetting the normal balance. I didn't want to have to wait a week for the next episode.

But they knew that there were Aboriginals in the area, but I don't think William realised that although the Aboriginals hadn't "staked a claim" in the traditional European sense, that they were living off that land just as much as he wanted to. There was definitely a lot of misunderstanding - and Thomas Blackwood tried to advise him, but so far he hasn't paid a lot of heed to him.

I know what that is like Liam, fortunately my years of rotating shift work are behind me now, and I am glad I did them because now my retirement is that much more comfortable because of all the saving ;) I hope you are saving yours and putting a good bit into your Superannuation...its one of the best favours you can do yourself! ;))

Lol...patience is a virtue :)

Oh Liam you do make me laugh! Smile nicely it confuses them.

I'm dying good lord."

Hahaha saving that's a good joke! I'm trying :P I should actually look into what my super contribution is, I'm not entirely sure.
But yeah getting my car back from the automatics mechanic sometime this week, $1700 later - seems all my money goes into the old girl :(
Tossing up on whether or not to just get a $20k loan and buy a new Lancer or Mazda 3 - loan repayments will be annoying but at least I won't have to worry about mechanical issues for a good few years.

Haha! That'll teach you Liam;)

Yes, I meant to say too, what a delightful photo!

DH has gone off to see the cardiac guy who will do the ablation: fingers crossed he gets in soon!
Yes it's rainy and chilly - darkly overcast here too....
I hope everything goes alright with hubby Marianne and agree, sooner rather than later would be good!

Hope it all gets sorted for your husband soon Marianne. Cloudy and cold here, but got a walk in before a light sprinkle of rain. Now inside and warm with heating on.

We forgot it. So thanks Kathryn, for letting me know about the replay. It is now set up to tape on Saturday night.

his first!
I think after I got my tablet, he decided he wanted something for overseas too, but he's a Mac man, so it had to be an iPad, smaller than mine.

I hope it cheers him up at this scary time Marianne. My bloke WON an i-pad as a spot prize in a bike race recently. He is loving it. It's a mini-I-pad.
