Thanks Carolyn, I feel a lot more comfortable! ;))
Not sure where best to post this - maybe the mods can advise. The Sydney Writers Festival has a number of podcasts from this years writers available for free download via itunes. They are adding to them gradually so there may be more to come. At the moment you can listen to Norman Doidge, Julia Gillard, Atul Gawande, Helen Macdonald, Val MacDermid and John Darnielle as well as writers from the 2013 and 2014 Festivals.
To see the list and links go to: https://itunes.apple.com/au/podcast/s...
Possibly the best would be to make a new thread Carolyn...in the Festivals folder. There really is nowhere else that would be a fit:) Thanks for bringing it to everyone's attention..
Just telling DH about a book which after a short investigation I was not going to read. ' I know it's chick lit. But I didn't expect it to be that chickie' I said.'You mean it was all chick and no lit,' says he. Exactly!

Canberra's day time weather was always delightful..I remember the air would start to chill around 4.30 to be particularly freezing overnight and into the morning. Beautiful blue sky pretty much always :)

I've been trying to sort out my 700+ to-read list starting by moving them into an owned tbr shelf or a wish list shelf and then I plan to go through the rest and try to cull as many as I can. So apologies to anyone getting a lot of notifications from me!

Sounds like it's nicer weather where everyone else is today. The sun here (Waikato of NZ) is coming and going but its chilly and blowing a gale. The local farmer has growled because we have a bad weed growing in our one acre paddock and he's worrying it might spread through the fence to his farm. So I'm about to go outside and spend the rest of the day in the cold wind removing weeds. He tells me its called Bristle weed. Anyone here ever heard of it? Do you have it in Oz?
Good luck Tui! Sounds like it won't be a very fun day for you...I haven't heard of it but others who are rural inhabitants might have:)
Thanks Brenda. Now the rain is worsening so it may prevent me getting out altogether. That will be annoying as I want to get it sorted quickly.

I often look at the weather down your way and shudder during the winter months! I hope the rain eases so you can get the dreaded job over and done with:)

Marianne wrote: "Morning Dale, looks like another lovely day in paradise!"Has been beautiful all day in paradise Marianne. Still is.
Such a beautiful day today! I took Mum some lunch (she had Leek & Potato Soup with a Hot Cross Bun for dessert), did some chores for her, played rummikub (she won 2 out of three and I WAS trying). Came away with Elianne to go to the next swap/meet see this thread: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/.... Then came home, put a load of Mum’s washing on while I whipped up a quick batch of (what I call) Cheat’s Minestrone, so that’s a few meals in the freezer. And created the Swap/Meet thread so I will know what to bring next time…..

Faye, do you care for an elderly mother? I have one who is 91. She lives in a retirement home to be near her beloved sister but I see her when I can though she's half an hour's drive away. On Wednesday I bought her some lovely new warm winter woollies and then yesterday I took her out in a wheelchair in a cold winter wind, to try out her new kit. She looked great and so snuggly. She takes a much bigger interest in nature now than ever she did in her younger years when she was just too busy. She loves to get out into the great outdoors occasionally. Here she is flirting with my bloke (and he has pinched her sunhat!):
