While I am not rural - many of the books I have ordered have travelled all the way from Mississauga Ontario all the way to Vancouver BC very quickly [This is quite a lot of land to cover haha]

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9989 comments still reading my pharmacy journals this morning when I come across a review of One Life: My Mother's Story written by..... me!!
Because Nance Gee (the subject of the book) was a pharmacist, I sent my review to a few pharmacy journals saying they should let readers know about the book. They did get back to me to ask who I was, where I worked, how long I'd been a pharmacist. And then I saw nothing more, so thought it had ended up on the cutting room floor, so to speak. Nice surprise when I turned the page. :))

B the BookAddict (bthebookaddict) @Marianne What a great surprise to receive. Congrats:)

@Rita I've been puzzling, what does 'DP' stand for? Darling Partner?

That's excellent Marianne! You should send them your review of Silent Shock: The Men Behind the Thalidomide Scandal and an Australian Family's Long Road to Justice as well. A lot of pharmacists would be interested in that.

Jülie ☼♄  (jlie) | 6581 comments Good for you Marianne! ...and what Caroline said, maybe they could make book reviews a regular feature with you as their reviewer :)

message 20463: by Marianne (new)

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9989 comments I think they do have a regular book review section, but you're right, I should send them Silent Shock too.

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9989 comments One good thing about Monday Public Holidays for me:
even though I NEVER work Mondays, when it's a public holiday, I bizarrely get half a day's pay. So between 8 and 12, I say to DH, I'm being paid right now, for being at home!!!

Public Hol on a Friday, even better, I get a full day's pay!

message 20472: by Marianne (new)

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9989 comments Very windy here today.
After I have braved the wind on my walk (which sadly will not net any books as the PO is closed) I am going to make some Pumpkin soup in the Slow Cooker and Spaghetti, Bacon & Oysters sauce in a (non-slow-cooking) pan. That should fill up the freezers a bit...

Vicki - I went with the Kindle Paperwhite. The backlight is a feature I need in an ereader.

That depends on your excess. Also, the cost to replace a screen varies widely:
