Thanks to everyone who responded to my Outlander dvd query. Our only dvd store is Sanity and as I'm much too impatient to wait for eBay delivery, I'll be heading to Sanity on Sat or Sun.

Still, Bette, that's a pretty good price, $30. I've seen up to $70 listed, and apart fron eBay, $30 is the cheapest. Enjoy!
Good morning all, I'm sitting here in the quiet of the early morning enjoying the best cuppa of the day! :D

Good to know Marianne :) so there are nine books in the Outlander series, can we assume there will be nine series? Or nine DVD's in the whole series.

Good morning Kathryn, I know what you mean. I woke at 4.56 and thought about those numbers for a moment before deciding it was too early to get up so I rolled over and woke again at 5.46! So here I am :) ...still wondering about those numbers...

That's funny! Have you ever woken up, looked at the clock and thought the time said it was just about time to get up and proceeded to get ready for the day only to find out (about 10 min later, once you're a bit more fully awake) that it's actually only about 2.30? I've done that once or twice - it's a bizarre feeling!
Good morning.... here a little bit after you guys, been up for half an hour, 650am now and it is not quiet light yet. Feels like it is much earlier.

Don't tell anyone Kathryn, but I actually got ready and rushed to work like that once. So convinced that I was running late that I didn't stop to check the time until I got to work and it was all locked up!! It still took me several moments to realize how stupid I was..I was three hours early!! Shift work can do that to you :(

I've gone to work when it was completely closed because of a public holiday LOL
Sharon wrote: "Good morning.... here a little bit after you guys, been up for half an hour, 650am now and it is not quiet light yet. Feels like it is much earlier."Good morning, Sharon! It looks like it's going to be cloudy here today. Would love it if it's going to be cooler today - I am just over the heat - I swear it's been summer for about 5 months, since I know I was complaining about the heat throughout November...!
Morning all! I woke up at 6.30 thinking is was Friday and I was going to be late for work if I didn't get moving. Such a nice feeling to realise it's Saturday and I can go back to bed with a cup of tea and a book :)

It has been a terribly humid summer here, but today, so far it is a little cooler this morning. I never thought I wish for cooler weather. This is the first year.

Marianne wrote: "Now can anyone tell me how much the first series covers of the book?"Season 1 part 1 (which is what you can get on DVD)is 8 episodes & covers roughly about the first half of the first book. Season 1 part 2 which starts on Foxtel April 5th is another 8 episodes & covers the rest of the first book. Season 2 (which they havent started filming yet)will cover the 2nd book. :)
Thanks Zoey. Good to know exactly what I am getting:) I love this whole series of books and was not going to watch the TV shows but everyone is raving about them so I will give them a try:)
Phrynne wrote: "Thanks Zoey. I'm a huge book fan & love the TV series. Compared to most book to screen adaptions they have really stuck close to the books.
A warning for all new watchers though, when you get to episode 7 (The Wedding) Whoa *fans oneself to cool down* you might need a cold shower afterwards ;)

Jools you have to move the the books up to the top of your tbr. You'll really enjoy them!

Oooh yeah!!! ...and he is soooo easy to look at Marianne ;)
After getting the groceries this morning, I popped in at the library for my two reserves Eden and Landline, then popped around the corner to vote. I was early enough that I didn't have to wait at all (although I had a book with me in case there was a long line). On my walk, I picked up Checker and the Derailleurs: A Novel for $2 at Mission Australia. Now I'm going to the kitchen to create: a Peanut Butter Cream Pie for Easter dessert, sinful but delicious.
Marianne wrote: "After getting the groceries this morning, I popped in at the library for my two reserves Eden and Landline, then popped around the corner to vote. I was early enough..."Marianne it doesn't count unless you give the recipe! :P
I can do that, but I can't put it in the Australian recipes thread, because I got it from the restaurant in Canada where I first ate it, The Laughing Loon Pub in Williams Lake, BC.
Marianne wrote: "After getting the groceries this morning, I popped in at the library for my two reserves Eden and Landline, then popped around the corner to vote. We left and went back after lunch, no-one around. Know what to do in future.
I voted just now. The place was nearly empty. I will remember that for next time because I hate queuing.
Marianne wrote: "I can do that, but I can't put it in the Australian recipes thread, because I got it from the restaurant in Canada where I first ate it, The Laughing Loon Pub in Williams Lake, BC."Oh yes you can put it there - because we'd be using Australian hands to make it :)

I've put off watching it in case Jamie on-screen doesn't equate with the Jamie in my imagination. By the way, my 'imagination Jamie' is pretty hot to look at. But, I think I'll give in and buy the dvd. Just hoping that it's not all fighting and Battle of Culloden scenes.
About the weather here... we've had a pretty tame summer down here, only a couple of really hot days sprinkled here and there. Not that I mind since I dislike the heat but it does make me feel like we've skipped a season.
@Bette, if the screen Jamie doesn't match or even better your imagined Jamie I don't know who else could, even his voice is music! ;) I think all of the actors are well suited to their roles. There are a couple of distressing scenes... that some people didn't like in the book...but they are true to the story and can't be ignored just because they are too upsetting. It certainly pushes your buttons though.Btw, the soundtrack is gorgeous too!! :)
I'm like Bette, still not sure whether to watch it or not. I remember being forever ruined for Sookie Stackhouse by the dreadful TV series. That pushed buttons too but in the worst ways for me.
Phrynne wrote: "I'm like Bette, still not sure whether to watch it or not. I remember being forever ruined for Sookie Stackhouse by the dreadful TV series. I know I haven't read the books but if the DVD is anything to go by I would read them tomorrow if my tbr wasn't so big already! The quality of the filming is very, very good.
All this talk of the Outlander DVD makes me want to rush out and buy it but one of boys asked if I'd like it for my b'day in a few weeks so I have to be patient!
Kiera wrote: "I hope you all got a sausage or a cake when you were out voting! That's always the best part! Lol."The lovely little primary school where we vote had both a scrumptious cake stall and a sausage sizzle but I'd stupidly left my purse at home.
We did go to a neighbourhood verge party later where a few people had bought cakes from the stall so didn't entirely miss out!
Phrynne wrote: "I'm like Bette, still not sure whether to watch it or not. I remember being forever ruined for Sookie Stackhouse by the dreadful TV series. But then I thought, they cant ruin the book, they're not touching them, they will still be exactly the same word for word as they always have been. The TV series is just another version of my favourtie story & if it sucks then I stop watching & go back to the books :)
and as for Jamie, I think Sam Heughan is brilliant. No he isnt exactly like the Jamie in my head, but hey now I've got 2 Jamies (my very own book one & a TV one I have to share with everyone else) 2 JAMIES!!! what more could a girl ask for ;) LOL!!!
I watched a few bits on YouTube. It looked okay. I can see what you all mean about Jamie. I have already ordered the first DVD from Sanity so I will start it and see how I go:)
Do you know what I'm going to be honest and say I don't know what the Outlander series is, but I'm going to look it up!I wanted to ask whoever is around, I have 3 library books. Way too many. Anyway.. Any suggestions which to chose first. I'm not ready but will he in a few days. Thanks all :)
