I hate the heat and think I would have just perished in the olden days.
Ryan wrote: "It's going to be hot in Melbourne tomorrow. I'm staying indoors until the football starts. Go Australia."When I read this Ryan.I thought, you're staying inside till April? Then the last comment made me realise you obviously weren't talking about AFL.
Not a hope, Ryan. Will leave that to people like you and instead watch my replays of AFL till the season starts
We just arrived home from a lovely day out. Went to Gloucester to see my sister and her husband; had lunch and yakked for ages. Then got tangled up in the peak hour/school holiday traffic:( But we weren't in a hurry:)
I've been in Western Sydney today at the State Records office. Looking at probates etc (I love it). Best find for the day was a juicy divorce record (obviously not juicy for long ago relatives of mine, but juicy for me!)

They had been living as man and wife all that time - had mum, had my aunty - then snuck off to the next county to get married while mum and my aunty were at school!!
HUGE family scandal! Mum mortified, aunt refused to speak to me for years, Nan and Pop had died by then. I thought it was great and wish they were still alive so I could ask how they met and fell in love.
It is fun doing the family tree. I wanted to trace my Pop's first marriage to see if there were any half siblings for mum - but my aunt refused to let me as she said if Nan and Pop had wanted us to know they would have told us. So I am respecting her wishes - but mum really wants to know.
Good morning, everyone. I've been up since 2.30am but didn't come here because I didn't want to wake anyone:D
Very thoughtful of you Bette. I was lazy and didn't get up till 6.15 but have been otherwise occupied till now.
popping in for my pre-work nosy around - alarm goes off at 5:45 and am at work by 7 - but don't start until 8Put a bottle of wine in the fridge for Friday afternoon drinkies in the pool - so all ready for the day to end.
Sorry to hear Laura! When are you due home? You must be terribly homesick by now - hopefully things will improve for you:)

Sally906 wrote: "It is fun doing the family tree. I have also included my childhood and adventures as a foreign correspondent. Still working on it but it has been very rewarding to have children and grandchildren say they have enjoyed reading it so far.
Brenda wrote: "Do you know if your job is there still? Good luck with that too:)"No idea about that either..will know hopefully when i get back. Yup, stressful times lay ahead.
I love that family tree story, Sally!!!And Laura, I'm sorry to hear that. I hope you feel better soon.

And I love the story tree family. All kinds of gems come out.

(I'm in the Hunter Valley so takes more than 2 hours to get there)
It is a surreal experience. Handling some really old documents inspires a sense of awe. Yes a lot of my friends get a giggle out of what excites me!

I get my kicks out of visiting cemeteries and most people think that's totally weird! All in the name of research...though I must admit to feeling a certain kind of relaxed when doing so, its like a meditation to me ;)

Aussie, Aussie, Aussie!!! :D
Long weekend, huh! Doesn't register with me until everyone goes on about it and I see the double demerit points signs, as I never work Mondays. Although, for some bizarre reason that I don't argue with, I get half a day's pay when Monday is a public holiday. So yeah, Happy Aussie Day, everyone! Chuck a few prawns on the barbie etc?
And belatedly, Laura, safe trip home: you'll be glad to be back.
