Real paper and cardboard books, yes. I get so much read that way. But today it will all be on the treadmill, no shoes off in the sand on Austinmer Beach.

Lol...I think I would fall over or trip and break something if I tried that, it's hard enough on the treadmill trying to focus while moving...I guess on a beach it would be different, I'd certainly love to try it! How wonderful to be able to walk on the beach every morning :)) much more relaxing than these dodgy suburban streets. Think I need a Tree/Sea change! ;)
well, I walk to the beach through the suburban streets, take off my shoes, walk the firm sand (as recommended by my chiro) then back home via the shops, the PO box and hopefully a book....
I know I would trip over if I tried to read and walk. Our dog didn't understand this morning why we weren't going for a walk. She may like to walk in the rain, DH and I don't. Guess who gets the casting vote!

I listen to an audiobook which is just as dangerous as walking with your nose in a paper book because I don't hear anything. Like cars coming when I cross driveways etc.
I know what you mean Phrynne. I had to buy noise cancelling earphones because there are dump trucks driving by and jets taking off by where I walk. But it kind of leaves you vulnerable.
Phrynne wrote: "I listen to an audiobook which is just as dangerous as walking with your nose in a paper book because I don't hear anything. Like cars coming when I cross driveways etc."I do jigsaw puzzles when I listen to audiobooks...very therapeutic and doesn't distract attention from either.

This cooler weather is divine! It poured all day yesterday; heavy flooding rains but was still humid. And it rained pretty solidly almost all night and this morning, though it's not raining at the moment. Wonderful!!!
Sarah wrote: "Huh. That's a really good idea. I never know what to do when I'm listening to an audiobook."
Ironing is good. I put my Ipod in its dock and turn up the volume!

Usually with the un-fun stuff I crank up some music and dance around and sing. It does take longer to get things done. Maybe I should try your idea :)

Goodreads has been down for the past hour! I've just managed to not get the "error" page so I wonder if it will last!
Phrynne wrote: "I listen to an audiobook which is just as dangerous as walking with your nose in a paper book because I don't hear anything. I sat outside the house for nearly an hour one night because I couldn't stop listening and I knew the minute I went inside I wouldn't be able to listen to it in peace - crazy!
Brenda wrote: "Goodreads has been down for the past hour! I've just managed to not get the "error" page so I wonder if it will last!"Annoying isnt it. How is a girl supposed to do her regular afternoon "sneak a look at Goodreads at work while nobody is watching" if she keeps getting the blasted error page :P

I'm with you there Zoey!! Was a calamity!
Hard at work - I don't smoke so I call it my smoke break. 3 girls go out at the same to have a ciggie- which is their right - and they disappear for 10-15 mins. So I figure I can do a quick 10 min surf on the Internet for MY smoke break :) LOL!
On desk at work, lady comes up.Lady: "Hey I need to send this fax ($3.10 worth) but I don't have any money on me can I like owe you the money and pay you back later?"
Me: "Uhhhhhhh hang on a second" I go and ask my team leader, he says to check if she has a library card with printing credit on it, and deduct that. As I'm checking this she's ranting at me.
Lady: "It's my payslip, I NEED to fax this, don't you have ANY compassion?"
Me: "Well I mean it isn't really about compassion, we're a government organisation"
Lady: "NO compassion!!"
Me: "I mean if you went into a store and asked 'Hey can I buy this, I don't have the money but I'm good for it' then they wou-"
Lady: "ACTUALLY there ARE people with compassion in the world you know, yesterday a boy asked me for a dollar for the bus so I gave it to him, my last dollar!! HAVE some COMPASSION"
Me: "That's very good of you, but like I'm saying you're a private individual whereas we're a government entit-"
Lady: "No you're VERY young and you have NO compassion can you please just SHUT UP RIGHT NOW."

I wouldn't have any compassion at all for someone that rude. But that's just me.

Nah she was just asking if she could fix us up next time she came into the library (which going by her record isn't often). And yeah Phrynne I was feeling a bit like that by the end :P

I have had a great few hours:) Bronwyn Parry was at our library for an author talk 5-6pm then some of us went across the road for dinner. There were 10 of us, including Bron...we had a fantastic time, chatting about books (among other things)...I've just got home..

We did thanks Sally; Bron is a very natural, down to earth person. She's doing her book tour (for Storm Clouds) and came from Mudgee to us today, then tomorrow Morrisset then Taree etc...
Good morning, Earlies:) 3.14am and think I might be the first one up this morning. I'll just trot up to NSW and wake Marianne!
Oh, hey, you are early this morning, Bette! You can stop trotting now, I'm awake. How's the weather there? Still rainy here.....

Still no rain:(:( Everything is really dry, we're heading for 30C, I think. I'm giving the garden a good soak as we speak, my water bill will be humongous!
Would you like me to send you down some of our rain Bette? It poured last night here and still showery today. Did at least get the dog and us out for a quick walk late yesterday arvo before the rain returned.Lawn grows while you watch it.
Oh wow still all this rain in places? When i last talked to my parents they mentioned how tassie got its worst rainfall in 90 years all in one night (something to that affect).Spent the weekend in Florence...It's pretty but the place we stayed at had horrible bedding (like cement) and a window that would let all the noise in!! Wasn't a window that could be easily fixed either! I was sleep deprived by the end of the 3 nights. We also had some cruddy rainy weather but thankfully not freezing...Day we left it was warm and sunny...lol
Our rain has gone - the monsoon bands come down stay a week or so then move off. It then take 6 to 8 weeks to come back. The next band is not due until next month sometime. So back to hot and sticky weather checking the radar hourly to see if a storm is coming through. Even the storms have been conspicuous by their absence this year :(Thank goodness for air conditioning and our pool and the employment to pay for them!!!
(with a bit of pay left over for books)
(and wine)
(and food - LOL!!!)
LOL!OK enough lolly gabbing - I had better get back to (aka actually start) work :)
Catch you all later!

Here's a couple of (delayed - sorry!) photos from the launch in Armidale last weekend:)

I've just been watching The Doctors on television. They say that "reading Romance novels not only improves your mood but helps you feel more sexy and helps put you in 'the mood'." So Romance genre readers, we know what you've been keeping secret to yourselves:)
Oh gosh, couldn't get on here yesterday as we had no power. The electricity company is doing changes and updates and stuff, so we had all day with no power...41C, no fan, too hot to open the windows and doors. Sat inside, sweltered, and used an old fashioned hand fan (the kinds the ladies used in the 1800s)...made me respect those ladies more for working in long skirts, long sleeves, boots and stockings with NO fan and the wood fire going!
It's amazing how a few hours in this heat with no power makes you appreciate it a whole lot more. We had a spate of power outages a few summers ago. Our pool was a life saver.
